Chapter 12 - epilogue: years later

On a Monday afteroon, the following letter arrived to Anastasia's doorstep. She had exchanged letters with her stepsister ever since she married the prince.

'Ms., would you like for me to read you your mail?' said Gwinever, the housemaid.

'yes please'

Gwinever nodded.

'Dear Anastasia,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are finally back at the palace. It was nice to get to know Europe for a couple of weeks, but we are both exhausted from the travels. To think my husband will have to work tomorrow, and have to deal with some of the pressing issues with the kingdom without having a day of rest to himself. I was wondering if you would like to come to dinner this upcoming Tuesday. You are the only family I have, and I really appreciate your company. You were there with me from the beginning, when I did not have anything. Feel free to bring Drizela along, if you care for her the way you did for me, I don't see why cant I give her a chance. Hope to hear from you soon. Tell me how everything's been going, I want to hear what is new in your life.

Kind regards,

your sister, Cindy'

Anastasia smiled warmly. 'Thank you' she said. 'Please write back the following:

Dear Cinderella,

I would be glad to join you on Tuesday. I will certainly bring Dri along with me. I'm glad you had to hear you had a great time in Europe, and I can't wait for you to tell me all the details. As for your husband, well it is to be expected that he would not really have a day of rest, it comes with the job afterall. You might not know it, but, in your own little way, you were also there for me when I did not have much. You operated with rules different from the ones I was raised upon, and it opened my mind to possibilities I didn't dare consider.

As for my life, I think I have some interesting news. I recently started to see this guy who genuinely laughs at my jokes and enjoys my sarcasm. This is new territory for me. I'll fill you in on all the details later. Thank you for the letter.

Kind regards,

your sister, Anastasia.'

As Anastasia dictated the contents of the letter, Gwinever wrote down in caligraphy on a separate letter paper. 'Please send it' she asked Gwinever, who accepted the request.

As Gwinever exited the door, Anastasia faced into the direction she thought the window should be. It turns out you were not completely off. She thought. Marrying for love is not naive, as it seems it is what I amdoing at the moment. And he dosn't seem to care either. He seems to be happy with a wife that is incredibly talented at playing the fulte, even though she si completely, utterly and impossibly blind.
