Lucien dipped his chin slightly. "You said it yourself, Your Highness. I'm an elf."
I blinked, struggling to keep up. "B-but I thought you were a Mirage. That skin you just shed off—"
"Ah yes, 'Mirage'—that's what the humans pertain us to be." He threw a hand in the air, impassive. "There's a perfectly good explanation for all this, Princess, and I'll give it to you eventually. But for now, we have to enter Treasure City. We are running late, and my people have been waiting for you."
I turned to my left, seeing an arched structure that was reinforced with silver and gold. It looked like a gate that led to somewhere to me. Treasure City, was it?
Lucien whistled, causing me to jump. There's a sudden whoosh of wind near my cheek, something sharp nearly grazing me. I heard ringing sounds, like tiny bells being rung all around us.
