Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: A Complicated Discovery

Lyra

The library was wonderful, magnificent, something that put storybooks to shame. Shelves littered the space in an elegant way. Sliding ladders were placed at each shelf end. Lyra couldn't contain her excitement and she cruised through each isle, soaking in the literature in front of her. She couldn't believe how large of a collection they had, but she also could. This pack has been around for thousands of years. Of course they would have access to this many books. Royalty, Lyra could hardly process it. A royal werewolf family with a twisted past. None of the girls at Mooretown would believe her. They would think Lyra had finally fallen into the deep end. To be fair, Lyra had always been prone to escaping into her own little world.

Eleni called out to her, but Lyra continued to peruse the witches collection she happened on. She eyed one little red one at the end of the line, eye level to her. It was a hardcover, with runes scattered across the front of it with one word. "Αστερισμός" she understood it to be the greek word for constellation, she placed it under her arm, and headed towards Eleni.

"Look what I found," Lyra said, sitting across from Eleni at one of the large tables in the center of the Library. She placed the book on the table and looked at her expectantly. "What is it?" Lyra chuckled a little bit, and ran a hand through her white curls. "It says Constellation in Greek. Maybe it can help us? If not, I think it looks interesting. There are protection runes scattered across it. So I don't think there's anything harmful in here." Lyra was mainly talking to herself when she finished. Eleni gasped, and took the book into her hands. "Of course! How could I miss this!" Eleni spoke as she flipped through some of the pages. "What are you talking about El?" Lyra had gotten up from her seat and positioned herself behind the perky blonde, desperately trying to catch some of the words that were scrawled onto the pages. Suddenly, Eleni stood from her seat and started pacing as she focused on one page. Lyra was growing more and more impatient by the second, pacing in the same direction as Eleni, waiting for her to elaborate. "Constellations, the daughters of Atlas were constellations, and legend has it that a hundred or so years ago, one of his daughters was chucked from the sky and never to be seen again. Witches worshiped the gods of the night in ancient times, and of course they held constellations in high regards. That was also around the same time that the oracle disappeared with that book!" Eleni was nearly shouting by then. "We have to find the daughter of Atlas and Pleione. She's going to be a part of this prophecy, we might need her." Lyra stopped Eleni from exiting the library. "We don't even know if Thyrius is the other part of this though? And weren't we supposed to go over werewolf history? You are a terrible teacher" Lyra huffed. She was trying to mask her anxiety with her joking tone, but she was worried. Not just because they also had to face Caeso amongst this mess, but because she knew that Thyrius was going to constantly be in danger until this was solved. "Even if it isn't him, it's one of his family members, and that only means that Thyrius is going to do whatever it takes to keep them safe." Eleni's words only worried Lyra more. Thyrius was protective of his family, she was sure of it, what she wasn't sure of, was how they were going to find the daughter of a Greek god. That would be next to impossible, and she knew that he would exhaust himself trying.

The worry that had crept into her heart had her mind racing with a thousand what ifs. She felt her mind spiraling and she had to hold on to Eleni to find her balance. "Hey, I know this must be a lot, but we've got something. Let's go find Gus and tell him what we found. Goddess, you're good at finding things. You gotta tell me how you do it one day." Her laugh instantly calmed Lyra's nerves, and she found herself laughing as well. "Maybe someday. Let's go El." The two women were giggling as they exited the library, and they headed towards the training grounds once more to find the intimidating beta.
