Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: A Complicated Purple Towel

By the time the two had gotten tired of wandering the gardens, the sun had completely set, and the night was littered with bright, gleaming stars. Lyra adored the shapes that they made in the sky, and to her, the stars shining in the night was all the light that she needed. She had rambled on to Thyrius about them for a while, and she noticed that he was absorbing everything she was saying.

It made her feel wanted by him and she would soak that up for as long as she possibly could, not knowing when the next time she would be in the presence of this Thy. It seemed like too little time had passed when she heard him slightly clear his throat. "Would you like to go inside now? I think that we should get you to bed. We have a few days left to prepare to meet this coven, and being overtired during meetings will not benefit you." his voice snapped her out of her stargazing, and she turned her head up to look at him. He had a passive expression on his face, but Lyra could tell that he was on edge, that being outside at night brought out a different side to him, and going inside would ease him a little bit. She didn't know what had happened between her rambling about stars, and his sudden shift in mood, but she wasn't going to wait around for it to get worse.

It was quiet as they made their way through the enormous house, and Lyra couldn't help but feel anxiety stirring up inside of her. She was anxious about far too many things at the moment, and she knew that at some point she would have to get a hold on it sooner rather than later. There were far bigger things coming, and she wasn't even sure that she would make it out alive. By the looks of it, there were far scarier things than Caeso and his army. They had to deal with something much darker. Lyra had a sinking feeling that both were tied to each other, but that didn't settle the growing fear pounding in the back of her heart. She let out a long sigh as they made their way into Thyrius' room, and headed over to her bag to grab a pair of sweatpants, and a white t-shirt. She noticed that once she pulled them out of her bag, Thyrius had walked up behind her and gave her a small kiss on the top of her head. She felt the smile creep onto her face and she turned around to see that he had promptly left and wandered into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

Lyra huffed a bit before slipping off her old clothes, and placing the new ones on her body. She didn't feel like a shower tonight, she would take one in the morning. All she wanted now was sleep, but her mind was racing, swelling with anxious thoughts. The lights to the bathroom turned off after a few minutes, and the door opened to a glistening Thyrius, clad in a pale purple towel. She'd never seen purple look so good before. Lyra had to shake her head a few times before the intrusive thoughts that crept into her mind ceased to exist. She watched as he took out a pair of boxers, and a black t-shirt from his elegantly designed dresser, and headed into his walk in closet to change. She noticed he never changed in the bathroom, only in his closet. She wondered why that was, until he came out, and plopped the towel on the floor. She hadn't made it to the bed yet, and still had her feet planted next to it by the time Thyrius wrapped the duvet around him. "Come, Lyra, you need sleep." His voice was firm, and the exhaustion in his voice let Lyra know that he was not going to argue any further. Lyra cautiously stepped into the bed so as not to disturb him, and buried herself into the massive duvet.
