Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Prologue

The Dimensional Rifts that connect our world to the other dimension are called "Portals".

And what lies beyond these so called "Portals" are "Dungeons", where horrifying 'evils' lurk within.

These 'evils' that lurk inside the dungeons are called "Monsters".

Along with the appearance of these 'strange' occurrence, most individuals across the world began to develop 'powers'.

For some, these powers affected them a little. They could perhaps carry things they once couldn't carry, make sparks of different attributes. Most of the individuals here are Hunters ranked from F to D.

For some, these powers gave them the ability cast a blessing or curse to specified targets. If an individual can cast a blessing they are called 'White Mage Hunters' while individuals who could cast a curse are called 'Dark Mage Hunters' depending on how much their power works they are ranked from C to S.

For some, these powers came to define their lives. Blessed with extraordinary strength, chant a spell that could change a landscape or change their bodies into something monstrous. While the hunters here are usually S to B-ranked some fell short at C-ranked.

This all happened the same time as when the first Portal appeared. As if to balance the world, where monsters exist inside the dungeon, most of humanity was given power to fend off these monsters.

In due time, humanity manages to invent a device that could properly identify & measure an individual's rank and power.

At first this created a huge confusion worldwide, as to how, why and what is the reason for these events to occur. But soon humanity came to accept these changes and adapted to it as if it was nature's law.

"Dodge!"

A man shouted as he moves his body in order to dodge the hundreds of piercing crimson lights. Unfortunately, he couldn't dodge it all resulting in three or more holes in his body. Of course the same goes for his teammates.

Some couldn't dodge at all while some of them got their heads pierced or chest, it was truly a horrible sight for anyone who is watching.

"GWAAGHR!!" a deafening sound covered the whole area. With its large body, sharp claw and razor like teeth. Its figure was that of a lion with a sunflower like tail.

"D-dammit! This was supposed to be a B-Ranked portal! So why- why is an S-Ranked monster 'Panthera Sunleo' here?!"

"And we aren't at the boss's lair yet!" the man practically yelled.

The man couldn't hide his grimace as he saw the S-Ranked monster coming towards him. It took its time to slowly come towards the man, as if it was enjoying the moment where it successfully hunted all its prey.

Despair and the fear of death was filling up the man's entire being.

'I don't wanna die. I don't wanna die. Is there anyone, anyone still alive? Help.' The man frantically looked at his surroundings in hopes to see if anyone was still alive. But it was all for naught, no one besides him was breathing.

Due to the unacceptable situation he was in.

His fear and despair causes unjustifiable anger.

"You fuckeeerr—!"

CHOMP!

A swift bite from the monster was more than enough to take away half of the man's body. He didn't even have the enough time to react as a blank expression was expressed from his departed body.

"Disappointing, disappointing indeed."

Somewhere deep inside the dungeon, a man with an almost all bones figure sitting upon his lofty throne looked at the crystal ball that showed the massacre with disdain.

COUGH COUGH

Crimson blood was dripping out from the gaps of his fingers.

'Waiting is not an option anymore.' He sighed internally because time was running out for him.

'Before I die... I'll prepare a very 'special' gift for you BASTARDS!' With his eyes glowing blood red that contained great anger and expectations, he softly touched the book that was on top of his lap.

He got on his feet, left his comfortable throne and ventured outside the portal. As he was the 'owner' of the dungeon and an existence that made the monsters inside the dungeon tremble in fear with just his presence. He left the portal without any disturbances.

'... Time is running out and I have to find someone worthy.'

"They failed, huh."

My name's Isaac Jaeger, a F-Rank Hunter. Even amongst the F-Rank Hunters, I am what you consider as 'Failure'. Calling someone like myself a 'hunter' is a disappointment to the word 'hunter' itself.

I am more like a 'prey' than a hunter. I am just above a little compared to normal people. Anyone who is above what is considered as 'normal' are called hunters, that is why I fell in to the category 'Hunter' even if I am a failure.

That is why I am here at my dorm, alone, away from my family because of school.

Why am I attending school you ask? It's because if I can't be a hunter then I have nothing else to accomplish except finishing my studies.

At first it was like a medicine that was tough to swallow, however as time went by I realized that not everything in the world revolves around hunters.

The proof of that were the scientists who greatly helped humanity by providing informations and inventions for the 'new' world. Blacksmiths who provided equipments for the hunters. Machine inventors who made work easier for us. And many more.

"Isn't this Portal nearby? I hope they can clear it before a dungeon break happens."

Dungeon Break is an extreme situation where monsters 'find' a way to 'escape' the dungeon they were caged in.

Of course this doesn't happen frequently, but the chances of a dungeon break occurring isn't really zero. That is why it is better to clear a dungeon than leave it alone with the chance of a dungeon break happening.

Putting down the remote, Isaac walks to the kitchen to cook for his dinner.

"Today's menu will be a little spicy. Hmm hmm~"

Isaac beautifully hums as he enters the kitchen.

Minutes later, a beautiful sizzling sound and a delicious beefy spicy aroma covered the entire kitchen.

Today's menu was Shrimp Butter Tempura and Spicy Beef Curry.

The first time Isaac moved to this dorm, he didn't have the knowledge of knowing what and how to cook. He was practically 'forced' to cook his own food because food expenses especially if not calculated, is expensive.

Of course Isaac has the money to go inside a restaurant everyday because of his parents. Isaac didn't like the thought of lavishly spending money so he chose to learn cooking instead of going to restaurants.

Isaac was always a fast learner so he learned how to cook pretty quickly. His cooking may be even tastier than what you can eat at a restaurant.

"Now for the juice~" Isaac mumbled as he walks to the fridge.

"Eh... ?"

'Crap I forgot to buy the ingredients for juice!' Isaac thought while messing up his black hair.

He hastily put on neat white shirt that matched up his above the knee black short. Paired with his messy black hair and deep brown eyes and a whooping 182CM height, most of the guys would die just to have his looks, height and toned body.

A handsome guy indeed. But! Never in his life he had a GIRLFRIEND. Yes, even with his handsome looks he never had a girlfriend. Why? It was because he didn't want to.

A girlfriend for Isaac was only a waste of time, effort and mostly money. Even if you buy 100 books of 'How to Understand Women' you still can't understand them.

But his mother always told him that 'Treat others how the other treats you' in a way his mom told him it was equal to: an eye for an eye rule.

That is why Isaac's thinking of not having a girlfriend may change in the future if he meets a woman that treats him equally.

Arriving at the nearest store, Isaac went ahead and bought the ingredients he needed to make a homemade juice.

"Thank you for the purchase~" The cashier said with a beautiful smile on her face as she finishes up packing the last item for Isaac.

"Thank you too." Isaac also replied with a small smile on his face as he received the items from the female employee.

'This is the first time I've seen her face. Is she a newly employed?'

BADUMP

The woman's face reddened at the sight of Isaac's smile.

'Oh my gosh he's handsome~' The employee had this thought while looking at Isaac. Maybe this was heaven's way of saying that this was her chance to get a boyfriend.

"..." Isaac didn't know that the woman in front of him was thinking these kind of those while looking at him. Isaac unconsciously gulps at the thought that there was something on his face.

Isaac was not dense if it was a normal day he would normally notice that the woman was captivated by him. But he was in a rush today and forgot to check his appearance and he concluded to himself that he has something on his face.

Yes he has a little bit of narcissistic side to him. And Isaac inherited this trait from his loving mother. After all she was an incredible beauty.

'Yes... This is a chance! I will have his number after all I am not bad myself.' The woman have these unfounded convictions as she prepared her mind to ask Isaac his number.

Suddenly the door opened and closed once again.

It took a second for the woman to realize that Isaac already left the store with a red face from embarrassment which he wasn't sure of.

'... He left... ' An empty feeling enveloped the woman's heart. She felt like she had lost something important.

'Ugh... I hope nothing's on my face.' Isaac wiped his face with his free hand before grabbing the phone inside his pocket and quickly opened the 'Camera' app.

Isaac looked intensely at his phone, he angled his head from left to right in order to not miss a spot.

'... Sigh...' Isaac sighed in relief.

When suddenly, a skinny old man with glowing red eyes entered the view of his camera.

"..." Isaac couldn't utter anything, he just froze on the spot. The glint of life from Isaac's eyes seemed to have left his body. He felt kind of... lost.

And this was not because of shock from the sudden appearance of the old man.

The skinny old man continued to stare at Isaac with glowing red eyes while quickly switching from red to gold. Until it stopped switching colors and his eyes emitted golden hue.

A vision came to the old man.

FUUUSSSHHH

The man who was Isaac, was covered in blood that almost seem to have covered his entire being. The man was sitting on a throne atop of hundreds of thousands of dead bodies.

And with him were five females, one was sitting on top of his lap while she rested her head on his chest. The rest were divided on both sides.

'Th... this is...!' Even if the old man was not there physically he could clearly feel great fear and awe for this being. A strong urge to kneel in front of this being surges within the old man. But he resisted it with every effort he could.

'A Progenitor!' The old man seemed to exclaim but no voice came out from his mouth. He was only a 'spectator' in this vision, something similar to a viewer.

A 'good' looking smile was etched on the man's face as he looked down at all the dead bodies that was beneath his feet. It grew wider and wider until...

"HAHAHAHAHHA!~" a maniacal laughter covered the entire area.

FUUUSSSHHH

Suddenly the old man's vision came to an end. And he returned to the 'present'.

"..." The old man had a shocked look while his body continued to shiver as the vision was still fresh from his mind. Several thoughts came in to his mind.

As if something clicked within his mind, he came to a conclusion:

'This boy... He is more than enough.' The old man concluded.

"Hey old man are you okay?!" Isaac frantically asked.

Isaac didn't notice it but he was set 'free' from the moment the old man's vision ended. Because all the focus of the old man was on his vision he didn't also notice that Isaac regained his senses.

The old man didn't reply and just seemed to look at something else. And this made Isaac worry even more.

Regaining his senses, the old man looked at Isaac once again, and a smile slowly formed on his face, he weakly mumbled:

"... A Monster, huh"

Yes indeed, the 'innocent' boy in front of him would soon become a monster in the near future. The old man was so sure of this because not even once that his vision had gone wrong.

It was truly a broken ability.

'I've decided... I'm gonna bet my all in you boy!' The old man thought.

"H... uh?" That was the last thing Isaac could mutter before his vision was slowly engulfed by darkness.

Isaac tried to resist with all his might but it was all for naught. The urge to close his eyes was simply too strong for him.

Before he was fully engulfed in darkness, with his blurry vision he saw the old man mumbling about something with a strange book in his hands, his eyes glowing in blood red.
