"System, what are you and what is your purpose?" Isaac asked in a serious tone, he couldn't help but stare fiercely at the air or more like the game like interface in front of him.
[My sole purpose for existing is only to be useful to master.]
"... Sigh..." Once again, Isaac didn't feel any slight of doubt from Wis's answer. He could only sigh in relief.
He didn't have any proof that what Wis said could be a lie in order to fulfill her other role. Isaac just have this feeling and that there was not an ounce of lie from Wis's words. And as a man who trusts his feelings, he decided to wholeheartedly trust Wis.
'Guess I'll just trust her.' Isaac thought.
(A/N : Wis is a female and in this story I am treating her as a person and not an object so the 'her' is used.)
[Thank you for trusting me, master.]
"... You can read my thoughts?" Isaac surprisingly said as his eyes became a little wider.
[Of course, after all master and I are one.] Wis proudly said seemingly bragging the relationship she had with his master.
It was like another person or soul was living inside Isaac and it created a weird feeling for him.
"..." Isaac went silent, little by little small liquids started to form on his face. He was sweating, he was sweating a lot. Having the thought of someone knowing his darkest secret that was hidden deep inside his mind, made him almost lost it.
[Don't worry master! Master's secrets are safe with me!] Just by how she said this, Isaac could imagine Wis puffing out her chest while having a smug smile on her face.
Wis's affirmation to his horrors made him weak even more. Isaac now just wanted to hide under a rock forever. This was now the most embarrassing moment of Isaac's life.
"Le-let's go back to the 'status window' thingy." Isaac nervously changed the topic.
As soon as Isaac said those words, the status window floated in front of him once again.
[ STATUS WINDOW ]
Name : Isaac Jaeger
Gender : Male
Race : Vampire
Ability : Dark, Blood, Ice
Strength : 180 Agility : 180
Dexterity : 238 Stamina : 247
Magic : 203
"Oooh. This definitely feels like a game." said Isaac as he tried to tap the interface in front of him.
"And why do I have so many abilities?" Isaac said.
[To explain it in a simple way master, my creator has the abilities of Ice & Future Sight and master inherited them both. And because master is a Progenitor, master also have the ability of Blood. Although extremely rare, it is possible that some humans or vampires to gain abilities that perfectly suits them.] Wis explained in a professional manner.
"Okay, okay, I understand now. But it doesn't show here that I have the future sight ability." Isaac as he stared at the interface in front to make sure that he was seeing right. And right he was, there wasn't a future sight ability there.
[Maybe master will acquire it overtime. Although faint, I can sense the ability inside master. So I am sure that master have the future sight ability. I can also sense more abilities within master, at the moment, I just don't know what it is.]
"Since Wis says so, I'll just leave it at that and focus at the things at hand." Isaac said.
"Do I level up too? Do I assign stat point if I level up? Where's the exp bar?" A barrage of question were thrown by Isaac towards Wis. Somehow an exciting started to fill Isaac, he was similarly acting like a kid who just found an interesting stuff.
[Master, please calm down. To answer master's first question, you don't. Second question, you can't. Third question, you don't have one.] Wis replied in a organized manner.
Suddenly, all of Isaac's excitement left his body. He asked once again:
"Then how do I get stronger?"
[Through training or by consuming blood or through battle. Master's stats would naturally rise as a result by doing these things. The stats shown are indication on which area master is more proficient with.]
'Hmm.' Once again, Isaac started to organize his thoughts. 'Training, consuming blood, and especially through battle, huh... I see...' a big smile floated upon Isaac's face as he said the word battle.
Although Isaac didn't confirmed it, he was having the traits of a battle maniac.
"So in conclusion... The best way to get stronger is to become a hunter. And since I already am a hunter, I can just go and find a raid party that is currently recruiting for a member. But as Wis said, I am already as strong as a S-rank hunter, and if I do it in game rules, the higher the dungeon I go to the much stronger I get." Isaac mumbled.
[Yes, master is correct. But what I would suggest is that master should try out his abilities before re-evaluation and before going through portals. Because you never know what's inside the dungeon.] recommended Wis.
"... You're right. So what do I need to do? Do I... need to chant or something?" Isaac hesitatingly said the last part.
Isaac once saw this on T.V, a hunter was chanting in the middle of a raid making him the spotlight of the show. This made Isaac's hair stood up from the amount of embarrassment he was having. Even though he wasn't the one that was chanting, it affected Isaac greatly.
Chanting a spell in order to cast a skill is a big NO for Isaac. He thought that chanting things like 'Oh water grant me thy power to bla bla my enemy' bullshit like that was on another level. He would rather bury himself than chant some cringey stuff like that.
If some people could hear Isaac's thoughts then they would probably murdered him right here, right now. But, hey, every person have different opinions about almost like, everything.
Right now, Isaac prayed to all the saints he knew of that Wis will say 'You don't need to do any of that'.
Not betraying his expectations, Wis replied:
[Master, does not need any chanting. Master just need to think of a name that represents the skill as a foundation of what you are going to do, and the rest just let your imagination do the work.]
"So no complicated things like chanting..."
[Well if master prefers it that way—]
"NO!" Isaac unknowingly stood up while denying what Wis was going to say.
[That was a joke, master.]
"..." Isaac's face brightened light red due to his embarrassment.
Isaac quickly picked himself up and calmed down. He didn't waste time anymore. As a person who was at the bottom, he wanted to try things he haven't done before, like magic.
Suddenly, he remembered the things he had done hours earlier. He did do things like magic, like gathering the blood in front of him, dashing at an inhumane speed.
Isaac shook his head several times after remembering the gruesome situation. He still insisted the fact that, that was not entirely 'him'.
"Foundation and Imagination are the key points, huh." Isaac said.
'First let's try my own ability, dark.' Isaac thought and started to close his eyes. He began to imagine what he wanted to produce with his ability.
Opening his eyes, Isaac's gaze glued to an object that was a distance in front of him, the object was a vase.
Because of the lighting of his room, a shadow could be seen by the vase.
Like an undisturbed calm water, he focuses on the object or more like the object's shadow, he imagined the vase being pierced by its own shadow.
Soon he uttered the words which indicated the name of the skill that he was going to be using:
"[Shadow Spike]" then suddenly, something was happening with the vase's shadow. Its shadow started to wiggle like crazy, slowly the shadow rose upwards, it started to change form until it resemble the pointy end of a needle.
And in an instant, faster than the moment a person could blink, the pointed shadow plunged at the vase at a monstrous speed.
CRACK
The vase cracked, it couldn't hold the damage it received and broke into hundreds of pieces.
"I guess anything that falls into the category of the ability 'dark' works, huh." Isaac satisfyingly said.
TING
As if awarding Isaac's effort, a message came into his ears.
[Skill - 'Shadow Spike' Created!]
[By successfully creating or acquiring a new skill, it will be registered within me master. Resulting in, just by saying the name of the skill and specifying the target of the skill, I, Wis, can help you cast the skill without needing the need to imagine the skill in order to cast it.] Wis started to explain without having Isaac questioning her.
"Heeh~, isn't that very convenient? [Shadow Spike]." Isaac lightly said.
The target now was a book that was much further than the vase he targeted earlier. Then the same thing happened, but the activation of the skill now was much, much faster.
The book's shadow wiggles for a millisecond, then it launched itself through the book, piercing it. And after a second, the shadow went back to its rightful place.
"Oooh! Let's try the others next." Isaac excitedly said.
Moments after, Isaac successfully created another skills, which he activated over and over again in order to improve it more.
"Wis, it feels like I've been using magic nonstop but why don't I feel something like getting exhausted or something?" Isaac asked.
[The skills master practiced, doesn't consume a significant amount of magic. Especially since master's stamina is unusually high.]
"Umu!" Isaac nodded.
"Okay let's continue—"
KNOCK KNOCK
Isaac could hear a knocking from his door. He narrowed his eyes at the source of the sound.
Without realizing it, his eyes were glowing blood red. And a notification ping came into his ears.
[Prominence Eyes - Activated]
Suddenly, his vision became clear, he could only see the world in black, however objects and living matters had this white colored outline. And from the door, he could see a white colored outline in a human figure, and within that figure is a red colored aura.
Isaac instinctively knew that the red colored aura was being emitted by a human. After all, he could smell a faint sweet smell coming from the door.
But one thing is different, unlike earlier, he didn't had the urge to drink this person's blood. Isaac only concluded that he was still 'full'. The only thing he doesn't know of, is when, when would he get hungry again?
'But then who would come knocking at this hour— Oh it's already time for school.' Isaac said as he looked at the clock. He didn't got to sleep yesterday night, but strangely he wasn't sleepy at all. Maybe because he is a vampire now.
8:34 AM was indicated at the clock, meaning he only had 24 minutes to go to his classes.
"Coming!" Isaac said.
Isaac stood up and started walking towards the door. He reached for the doorknob, but when he was about to tilt it to the side to open it, his eyes fixated on one thing.
His eyes fixated on the mirror or more like the reflection of himself inside the mirror.
Blood could be seen on his shirt and short, he looked like a killer who just killed his first person, which in a way, was true. But what really caught his eyes was him, himself. He now had a perfectly toned body, like he have been doing gym workouts for months, his eyes got sharper. And the most noticeable thing he could see is his change in height, before his height was 182CM, now his height grew a whooping 190CM.
"Wait a second!" Isaac exclaimed.
'Crap. Crap. Crap... How am I going to explain this?' Isaac thought and quickly run towards his closet and changed into new clothes.
Finishing his changing of clothes, Isaac throws his bloodied shirt and short into the thrash. He walked towards the door once again while he reached for the doorknob, he sighed and couldn't help but mutter:
"How can I explain these... changes."
