Jessica looks at herself in the mirror and can't believe what she is looking at. "Is this me? Or someone else?" Dressed in one of the purple dresses she bought a day before and with a nice haircut and light makeover, she transformed into an angel. "My mom will be so happy to see me like this."
"I want to come with you." Emerens's whispers and moves closer to Jessica's back that she can see herself through the mirror.
"I wish you could come along too but you know how you are." She turns her back to the mirror and faces her friend. "You tear up too easily."
"Did she loose weight the last time you saw her?"
Jessica smiles. "I promise you will cry your eyes out when you see her."
"Is it that bad?" Emerens asks again.
"Very bad." Jessica sighs and taps her friend's shoulders. "Why don't you use the opportunity to see your mom too? You know it's been ages since you saw her."
"I just don't want to see her, I still very terrible when I remember all the things she did."
"Forget about those things and just move on, instead blame it all on Ella and her allies." She faces the mirror. "We are all in this mess because of them."
"If only your mom and grandfather hadn't gone to prison, it wouldn't have become this bad and pitiful for us."
"The people who did this to us are somewhere living so happily and walking about freely not knowing the amount of ruin they cause us."
"I promise to pay them back, they won't go unpunished." Jessica whispers.
"So you think I can face my mom like this?" Emerens asks.
"You look beautiful and determined, just like how every mother would want her daughter to be."
"I just hope I don't regret going there, and I hope we don't get into fight."
"Control your temper my dear." Jessica picks up a hair brush and brushes her hair. "No matter what happens she is still your mom."
*************
Emerens, dressed in a very nice and responsible gown and a pair of very comfortable sandals together with a clutch bag. Her hair, nicely brushed over to a side of her shoulders. She takes a very deep breath before ringing the alarm. It takes about a minute before someone respond, while waiting she stands there very nervous.
Idalina opens the door and takes a peep to see who rang the alarm bell. She frowns immediately she sees her daughter standing by the door. "What do you want?" She asks still wearing the frown on her face.
"I came to see you mom." She replies solemnly.
"To fight or insult me again like you always did?"
Emerens closes her eyes and takes a deep
breath. "Mom, I came to see you because I seriously missed you."
"How do you expect me to believe that when you have spent these last years always criticizing every of my move and decision?"
"I am so sorry about that mom, but I promise to be the good daughter that you have always wanted from now on."
"Have you stopped being friends with Jessica?" Idalina asks again.
"Can we please talk about this inside, at the very least I think I need to be offered a seat and some water."
Idalina frowns at her daughter for a while and later releases the door, allowing her in. "Have your seat." She offers pointing to a couch and sits opposite it.
"Thank you." Emerens takes the offer with smiles. "How is your husband doing?"
"He is doing well thanks."
"The kids?" She asks again.
"We are all doing well, thanks for asking," Idalina replies with a lot of no satisfaction with the question her daughter asked her.
Emerens stares at her mother for a while and notices a bruise on her mother's face. She lowers her gaze to her entire body and realizes that the bruise is actually over entire body. "Is your husband still beating you?"
"No!" Idalina replies bluntly and quickly pick up the long jacket very close to her and put it on.
"Why do you have bruise all over you?" She asks again.
"I fell, when I was trying to move somethings here and there."
"I just can't seem to understand why you choose to stay with a man that has turned you into a punching bag." Emerens spits in anger.
"Do not interfere in my marriage, at least I have a life, don't I?"
She get the message properly, is she trying to say that she doesn't have a life? Emerens controls herself and smiles. "You call this rubbish lifestyle a life?"
"Emerens! Mind what you say to me!" She cautions loudly.
"Have you even ever gone to check on Jessica's mom for once?"
Idalina rests her back on the couch and keeps quiet, seeming backed into the corner. "I don't want to see her."
"Even if she was mean to you then, have you forgotten all she did for you? For us?" Emerens asks and there is no reply, then she continues. "This woman is in the psychiatric hospital for God's sake, she is mentally derailed, and you of all people have decided not to see her, isn't that unfair?"
"Are you here to pay me a visit or fight me?" She asks maintaining eye contact.
"Have you paid off all your debts?" Emerens asks again.
"Can you leave my personal life out of our conversation please?"
"You want us to leave your private life out but you want to talk about mine?"
"I am your mother Emerens!" Idalina says and stands with her eyes burning red as if she is ready to pounce on her daughter and beat her up.
"You are shrinking." Emerens whispers holding tears on her eyes and her voice trembling.
Idalina gently goes back to sit and whispers. "Allow me live my life the way I want to."
"You have my number, call me when you are ready to be happy." She says without looking at her mother and walks out.
