Chapter 2 - 2. Subconscious Space

As Damon dived deeper into his subconscious he appeared in a dim lit room around twenty feet wide and long.

There were no windows, just four walls and one double door. This wasn't Damon's first time visiting this subconscious space inside his head.

He had no clue how he was able to connect with his subconscious mind this way, he only knew he was able to achieve it, a year after learning something called ki that was told to be a type of life energy.

The door was black with blood red trimmings, over eight feet tall and oddly twelve feet wide.

An engraved symbol could be seen in the middle of each side of the double door. one symbol was a red cloud and the other was red drops of water which Damon believed to be red rain.

Damon couldn't tell what the door was made out of, only that it was very strong. at first glance it could be mistaken for some type of steel, but Damon had never seen such steel before.

Although he understood he was in his subconscious. The space he was in felt incredibly real.

In fact he believed it to be real after having to go there every time he made it rain. he could touch, smell, see and even taste everything as well.

In the past he tested all his senses while in the room. he tested his sense of taste by licking the door which tasted like iron and something unfamiliar that he couldn't really describe.

The door was completely sealed, not a single ray of light could be seen under it. The reason the room was dimly lit and not completely dark was the dimly lit letters that constantly floated in the air.

These letters were around the size of his palms, coated in a satin white energy that would very slowly pulsate to a brighter white that was somewhat milky.

Damon grabbed one of the letters and placed it away from the rest of them. he just simply moved them one by one in an area that wasn't filled with floating letters.

These letters were jumbled up while floating, but once he moved them, they would remain wherever he moved them to.

In seconds he organized the letters spelling the word (SERENE) and the door that was sealed shut, opened.

psshhhhhh!

Two vapores of steam were released upon the double doors opening.

This was the condition he had to accomplish within his subconscious space.

unscrambling the floating letters to spell one word that had a definition dealing with calmness.

Each time was different. and the number of letters that floated were different.

He assumed it was this way to keep him from repeating the same synonyms of calm too many times.

Over time he had gotten pretty good with unscrambling the letters.

His first time entering the space he was trapped there for so long before he figured it out, that when he finally came back it had rained for so long in a certain area he was in. The inches of rain almost climbed to 5 feet.

When Damon would lose control of his emotions, the radius of the rain and how heavy it was, were determined by how much control he lost.

At the current moment it was only raining lightly and at a 30 meter radius around him.

The room behind the door was nothing like the first. The entire walls were like an under water cavern just above sea level.

The ground was wet and rocky. huge black rocks were scattered throughout the cavern with large and small Stalactites which were spikes on the ceiling, Stalagmites were the spikes on the cavern floor. They were also scattered throughout.

ploop....ploop.....ploop...drip....splash

The water dripping from the ceiling could be heard throughout the cavern splashing on the ground.

The cavern was long, wide, dark and had a musky strong smell, like something had died inside it.

"Hate this place "Damon said internally

walking forward.

Even though it was dark, whenever Damon entered this area his eyesight would be enhanced in some strange way for him to see.

He had no clue how, but over time realized it was the place itself temporarily giving him the power to see as his ki couldn't help in the space.

The cavern looked like it went on for miles. Damon was scared shitless his first time entering the cavern, unlike like the room before which was a totally different place.

Once he entered the cavern he couldn't just simply disconnect from his subconscious.

He tried in the past and nothing would work. It was like his actual body was in some type of mental sleep paralysis keeping him from disconnecting once he went through and inside the space.

He tested this theory out countless times after finally figuring out what needed to be done before he could leave.

He continued to walk deeper into the cavern around 50 meters. He hated everything about this subconscious space, but the eerie part of his little walk was the worst.

There were no turns at all, none he could see anyway, just a straight forward cavern tunnel that seemed endless.

The air became more and more still and humid the further he went.

"Come on where is it. he exclaimed. I should be around the one hundred meter mark"

He soon smiled, as he saw a huge rock on the right side of the tunnel with an arrow he had carved into it pointing straight ahead.

"Almost there"

After walking another fifty meters Damon became very tense.

"Ok let's do this and leave" He talks to himself trying to ignore the ominous feeling while taking in a deep breath.

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he walked a little closer.

Back when Damon found this space years ago, he eventually came across something he knew and felt was connected to him within the cavern.

It was one hundred and sixty five meters exactly from the double doors.

Finally reaching that distance, he could see it clearly. A large glass boulder perfectly round, that more so resembled a big ass snow globe fixture.

The snow globe like boulder itself wasn't giving off this evil form of energy and pressure that he felt once reaching that point.

The omnius pressure came from whatever was deeper in the cavern.

Beyond the boulder it was complete darkness, the strange eye sight enhancement he would receive at the beginning of the cavern didn't allow him to see more than five feet past the boulder.

Not only that but, the little noise of water dripping from the cavern walls and ceilings would stop at that point as well.

The air was even more still and worst of all, there was a blood lusty pressure that encased the area.

Inside the snow globe looking rock, there were dark clouds and a light rain projection.

All Damon had to do was touch the boulder and say the calming word he unscrambled earlier.

Which seemed like an easy task, but the uneasy feeling of something beyond that point watching and waiting for him would make shivers run down his spine.

So much, that goose bumps would appear all over his upper torso while the hair on his neck and arms would stand up.

He had accomplished this feat more times than he could count ,but one thing never changed.

The fear of this particular spot of the cavern pushed upon him. "Serene." Damon immediately said while touching the crystal like boulder.

The clouds thinned into black fog dispersing the rain.

Just like that, he was opening his eyes while still standing at the wood line of beast free forest.

The clouds were gone and the rain had stopped. all of this only took a few mins at the most. time practically stopped when entering his subconscious space.

Rays of sunshine penetrated his orange ember colored eyes as he opened them making them cast a slight shine like a sun that was rising.

"I don't think I'll ever get over that damn place".

"hmmm, still early enough for me to make it to the academy on time. I guess I'll find out what's going on here when I return."

"whatever it is, it sure gave me a good workout dodging all those limbs." he thought while cracking a smile and rolling his broad and slight muscular shoulders, as he began to walk.

He crossed the same grassy field he laid down in earlier catching his breath, going south east and eventually came to a brick road in which he followed.

As he walked he decided to move his ki throughout his body. He pushes different percentages in different areas.

Damon had been harnessing and improving his ki since he was 13 years of age, now that he's 17 and stayed disciplined with his ki routine his energy was very strong.

In comparison to an awakened soul which was a person that either has a tamed beast called soul beasts or an ability user, someone who powers didn't rely on a beast.

He was always at a disadvantage but none of that stopped his progression.

There are two forms of ki,one is internal and the second is external. Damon only knew how to harness his internal ki.

His father taught him ki after realizing he might not awaken a soul beast because his rain was thought to be a ability, but a very weak one that did nothing.

He was told to only focus on internal ki and when his father felt he was ready,he would teach him about external ki.

Besides just mentioning to Damon about the external ki, He knew nothing else about it.

within the first year of Damon learning internal ki his father went missing after a mission was given to him.

Therefore he never got the teachings on external ki, and so for the last four years internal ki was all Damon focused on.

Internal ki was a type of energy that would strengthen the entire body, making you stronger, faster, more agile and it was all based on his ki control.

Damon soon came to a small city which was small enough to actually be a village as well.

It was called village city, the founders of the area couldn't decide to call it a city or village because of its size and therefore settled with a split decision naming it village city.

He walked up to the city gate which was guarded by six men, three standing on each side.

Even though village city wasn't big by any means, the city wall and gate itself was pretty massive, reaching a height over three hundred meters.

If you weren't from village city you would immediately believe that a huge city would be encased within the giant walls and gates that surrounded the city.

Damon learned from his father and in school that the walls of the city were already there upon their ancestors arrival in the past.

The founding people just took advantage of the walls and over time built a small city within the walls.

"oh look, it's the cursed kid" one of the guards pointed out to the other guards.

Damon just ignored them and continued to walk forward until one of them moved into his path.

A young looking man with low cut and yellow dusty hair. Wearing white leather shielding with brass colored armour plates.

"hey Damon, if you can tell me what's the chances of us getting some rain I'll let you pass" he said with a cracked smile.

"Is that the best joke you could come up with, or are you jus dumb" Damon responded while looking down at the man with a uninterested stone like face expression.

Damon was only 17 but he was pretty tall. he had Dark brown skin standing six foot four with a wingspan of seven foot, broad shoulders with a body of a professional athlete.

Jet black locs stopping at the bottom of his shoulder blades with sunset colored eyes Weighing only 190 pounds.

Slim for his height but with his broad shoulders and slightly buffed chiseled chest he could pass for someone weighing at least 205 pounds.

He wore brown leather low top boots with a dingy white blouse stitch shirt and brown leather pants. His thick brown worn out leather belt, on his side was so fragile, it look as of it could break any second.

He kept twin daggers, nothing special about them, they were very plain with black and brown hilts, with a five inch blade.

The young man scoffed at Damon's comeback.

" you may be taller than me kid, but everyone knows your cursed ass has no real strength."

"I advise you not to look down upon me like you're a bad ass or I'll knock you down to my l goevel and teach you a lesson about respecting those stronger than you " the man shouts while grabbing on to Damon's shirt pulling him down closer to his eye level a little.

"Get your damn hands off me"

"or what, you'll get us all wet with rain,it's a good thing you're punk ass won't be here for much longer."

"we dealt with your fucking curse for seventeen years, only because of your father and the city head."

"now that you're father is dead and you're of age, village city won't be sheltering such trash anymore." The man said smugly

All of the other guards just snickered at the comments of the dirty blonde hair guard.

"My father isn't dead " he shouted back grinding his teeth and clinching his jaws together.

" oh yea, I forgot. he's not dead, he just decided to leave his trash, cursed son. I guess no matter how powerful and influential he was, having a kid like you was just too shameful, even for him." The man said in a calm but yet smart way while gripping tighter on Damon shirt and side eyeing him with a grin.

Damon became very agitated hearing those words, his left eye started to twitch uncontrollably, he knew what they were trying to do.

It was almost an everyday occurrence. They wanted to see him lose his cool. For some odd reason many people would annoy him on purpose, just to see if they could piss him off enough to lose control of his emotions.

Going through this type of treatment for years had actually aided him in controlling his emotions.

Almost becoming numb to the actions and crazy stunts people would pull against him. He hadn't made it rain in over a year up until earlier in beast free forest.
