Arriving at his destination Damon took a few deep breaths and knocked on a door.
"come in please." a female voice resounded.
"Damon! I figured you would pay me a visit after you recovered" said miss grey.
" before you act out again let me explain.,"
As soon as Damon walked in the classroom he noticed the room looked perfect. there wasn't any sign that a fight occurred.
He wasn't surprised by this at all, restoring rooms and certain things like a few chairs and tables were nothing.
He glanced around and fractions of the fight flashed in his mind and this time no pain in his head was felt. After gaining his sense back from the flashbacks he then gave his attention to miss grey.
Miss grey waved her left hand over the back side of her right hand and held up the backside of her right hand showing a tattoo of a bear head.
The bear was swallowing what looked like a human heart, the design was actually a little unnerving. showing the bears jaws stretched open with half a heart in it's mouth.
The arteries were still attached to the heart dangling from the jaws of the bear.
Damon's eyes widened as he whispered to himself, but still loud enough for miss grey to hear..."the Heartless Bears"
Miss grey smiled. "yes I am a member of your father's awakened soul unit, and to answer what I'm sure you're probably thinking, yes I am a ki user as well."
Damon had mixed emotions at the moment. he was happy, sad and yet angry all at once. So many things came to mind like, if what she says is true then why hasn't she helped him throughout the years or why didn't she take him under her wing to teach him about ki.
He was sure she knew he was struggling with it and if she was apart of his dad's team and a ki user, he knew she could have helped years ago.
It wasn't a secret that he was the only child their relying on a not so well known power called ki, his father made it known to village city hoping to teach his people another form of power,but something went wrong.
"I know your father Leon told you about us and what this tattoo means" she said breaking Damon's current thoughts.
"yes he did, he told me that I could trust anyone with the same tattoo that he has and that it's only given to his most trustworthy friends."
"He would tell me stories about a group called the heartless bears all the time when I was small. The many battles they all had been in and personal journeys of growth each member went through along with many other things. "
"It wasn't until I learned ki that he told me he was the leader of the heartless bears while showing me his tattoo marking and that the stories were all his own experiences before I was born" Damon said with a thoughtful gaze.
Miss grey smiled gently and her eyes became glossy as if she, herself thought about a few memories of the past dealing with Damon's father and the heartless bears.
"Damon let's cut to the chase, I apologize for the way I treated you earlier,but like I said I was just putting on a show for Mr. Clayton's spoiled brat. "
"The truth is I'm undercover here keeping a close eye on you and Mr. Clayton. I was given this task by your father the same day he left"
"I've gotten pretty close to Mr. Clayton and his family and in doing so I have to play a role I'm not proud of for dire information."
"unfortunately that role has put me in many difficult positions and one of them is having his youngest son back even if he's in the wrong."
" I've been gathering information little by little over the years and I know for a fact that Mr. Clayton is a terrible man with dark wicked intentions. That man scares me to my core. he's the sole reason your father left."
" Mr. Clayton forced him to partake in a mission not only using his new elected power of being the new city head, but the power of our Kingdom as a whole."
"Do you understand what I'm saying Damon.? "
"uhhhh yes, you're referring to the king of Ashwafala I'm guessing."
"correct, but think about it for a minute. There is no way he should have been able to get the king to do such a thing. This small city is nothing compared to other bigger cities let alone the actual kingdom."
"Village city is at the very bottom of all cities in our Kingdom so how could a lowly commoner like Mr. Clayton that lives in this rundown of a city have the authority to even whisper in the king's ear."
"There are hundreds of powerful people that have proved their worth in our Kingdom a thousand times over and they are not able to ask for such a thing from the king, let alone hold an audience with him, so for Mr. Clayton to be able to have the king's backing doesn't make a lick of sense. "
"your father denied the mission, but when Clayton provided paper work with the king's seal and signature on it, basically ordering Leon to accept the mission your father became beyond concerned and suspicious."
"He then gave me the task of keeping an eye out for you and Mr. Clayton and for me to do whatever is needed to find Mr. Clayton's ploy. However he made me promise to not help you with life decisions."
Damon stood there digesting every word miss grey said and to him it sounded like Mr. Clayton was simply trying to get his dad out of the way for whatever reason.
" Do you know what the mission was and what happened with other members of the heartless bears."
"No, I do not know, but I know one thing." she said with a serious facial expression.
" It was a trap of some kind. Three of the members of the heartless bears went with him."
"what scares me is whatever trap was set had to be one that's unimaginably strong and impeccable. because those 3 we're the most powerful of all of us, not including your father's strength."
"In fact those three I'm speaking about have faced so many powerful opponents and had grown so much back then, nobody in the whole kingdom besides the king's personal guards and the king himself could match their power. Well maybe a few others as well, but it's hard for me to believe all four to be ambushed and beaten in any type of battle."
" I'm making assumptions about the ambushing part, but it's all that I can think of that could have happened."
Damon continued to listen while making his own assumptions. Miss grey stopped there waiting for a response from Damon.
As much as Damon wanted to know more of what miss grey knew about his father and the situation.
He felt he needed to be selfish at the moment, because no matter what he knew if he couldn't get a hold of his delma dealing with his ki his world would end anyway, so he came to a decision.
"ki ! I can't feel my ki miss grey" was his response.
She was a little taken back by his random response about a totally different matter, but understood his concerns.
"if I can't figure this out no matter what information you give me about my father, the goldshears or anyone else, it will not matter if my number one issue isn't handled first." Damon also says with a determined look.
Miss grey smiled and reassured Damon that all was well.
"you won't be able to use your ki until your mind and body are realigned and become one again."
"what was the first ki lesson your father gave you."
"meditation."
" okay and what was the one thing your meditation led you to everyday, we both meditate and the mind is never fully clear but there is always one definite thing that comes to us all within our thoughts, of course different things for each and every one of us, but what was yours."
" you becoming berserk for that short period of time has blocked something important, that something is what will help you feel your ki."
"From how your father bragged about his 12 year old kid being able to obtain ki faster than all of the members of the heartless bears when we were your age speaks volume."
" it took most of us two years before harnessing our ki but we all did before we turned seventeen and we still awakened."
"you've had yours since the age of twelve, I'm sure a bump in the right direction and you'll be fine."
"so what age did you all learn ki"
"Your Dad learned it at fourteen while the rest of us didn't learn until we were sixteen."
"How did my dad learn about ki"
"That's a question you would have to ask him,he wouldn't tell us no matter how much we asked or how many years passed. I honestly think it was more like he couldn't tell us rather than wouldn't"
"so will I awaken a soul core or a ability core."
Miss grey look turned hesitant and a little gloomy.
" with that look you're giving me, I'll take it as a no."
" I'm sorry Damon, if you haven't awakened a soul beast or developed a ability core before you turn seventeen then it's hopeless."
" Also you can only learn ki before you awaken, if you awaken and haven't learned ki, what your father calls ki pores will close and for good."
" that was one of the reasons your father was unsuccessful at teaching others ki. by the time he figured that you have to learn it before you awaken something changed in his line of thought and decided against sharing the power of ki."
"You already have an ability. You just don't have a ability core like an awakened soul.
"so a person who has already awakened can't learn ki."
" that's correct"
"from now on tell no one you are a ki user, just pass it off as an ability instead of another form of power. "
Damon had so many more questions, but he felt he didn't have time to ask. even though he was asking questions and answering them, the main thing he concentrated on was becoming one with his ki again and finding that one thing that could help him link it all back together.
Passing his ki off as an ability was easy he also thought,but the people in village city knew he claimed the little power he had as something known as ki and miss grey knew this as well and so he wondered why she told him that when he didn't have a ability core.
Ability cores were cores within a person that developed over time and exactly the same time as soul cores. The difference was soul cores came with a soul beast and with that soul beast that person would be able to use an ability.
People who had ability cores did not need a beast for power. Both were considered awakened souls.
Damon simply couldn't be labeled as an awakened soul because everyone knew he had no soul core or ability core as a kid at fourteen through seventeen.
They did know of his strange power to make it rain but it was believed to be a anomaly and curse.
"perhaps she was referring to new people and other cities I will be venturing into in the future." He inwardly believed thinking about passing it off as an ability."
"one more question miss grey, do you pass your ki off as an ability with a soul beast and how sure are you about the city head not knowing you are a part of my dad's team."
Damon asked this question because every soul beast a person has were also linked with their mana or ability, so it was unusual for an awakened soul to have a different type of ability or mana from their soul beast.
For example, when a person becomes an awakened soul and their mana is fire then their soul beast will also be a fire type soul beast.
"good question"
"you see in all their are only seven ki user's that I know of including you. Your father realized after all of our awakenings that our soul beasts power were very different and yet very similar to our ki powers in which he believed gaining ki changed our souls."
" Remember a soul beasts chooses it's master depending on your soul."
Damon became completely lost at that moment and miss grey could see it on his face.
"ok I guess it's better if I show you, so pay close attention."
she then cast a dome shield of light.
"this is my ki, that most people believe to be an ability from my soul beast, but watch. suddenly the dome vanished and so did miss grey. only to reappear in the back of the classroom.
"woah now that's pretty useful."
"so do you see it."
..uhhhh "see what. "
"my soul beast".
"huh, I don't see a beast anywhere."
As soon as Damon said that a small light flicked in the corner of the room revealing a small bear cub.....it's body was almost transparent similar to the barrier. the features of the bear cub couldn't be really seen, just a small outline.
"now my soul beast and I do not have the same abilities/skills, but they can be mistaken as the same."
"My ki ability is light bending and primarily defensive domes,but with my soul beast I gain offensive attacks and invisibility."
" light bending can give off a slight transparent invisibility effect so they both go hand in hand."
"what we discovered is with ki, the soul beast you obtain will be different, but close enough to your ki element that will actually compliment your power,in hind sight making it look like you only have one ability,but in reality more than one."
"to answer your second question, your dad tasked me with the job of looking into Mr. Clayton because of one thing. " Ghost!
"Ghost," Damon repeated confused.
"My soul beast name is Ghost, I am the sixth member of the heartless bears, only five are known and that's because no matter what I hid my entire presence and remained invisible through all of our battles in the past."
" I was a trump card to your father and so I couldn't be with the team unless I was to remain unseen."
"well couldn't a strong oppent sense you though".
"hahaha, no not at all I'll show you why one day." miss grey responds
"I'm sorry miss grey I understand what you're saying, but I just don't see that tactic working for all those years, surely someone noticed you back then."
" you will understand in time."
Damon shrugged his shoulders and headed towards the door.
" Wait, be careful Damon, The city head has resended his word of protection over you. you are no longer safe here and I'm sure you know why."
"because I haven't awakened right "
"yes, he only allowed you to live this long to see if you would be of value, knowing how strong your father was,im sure he was planning to use you in some way, but all that has changed."
To Damon it made sense,Taylen picking a serious fight with him out the blue like that.
Taylen bothered him and pick on him almost everyday, but the closer it got to him turning seventeen the worse Taylen's treatment towards him became.
Today was the first day Taylen actually tried fighting him. they would usually curse each other out and talk shit, but it had never boiled over to what happened earlier.
"hmmm so that's why that bastard is set on killing me all of a sudden, he must have gotten permission from his ass of a father." He thought.
"wait. Mr. Clayton knew my father used ki right."
"yes he did,but that's a whole other story for some other time. it's almost time for your final class Mr. I have only one more question" miss grey said with a smirk.
"oh yea, sorry bout that. I'll be going now".
