Chapter 37 - Thirty Six

I stand with my luggage at hand, at the side of the road, waiting for a cab to pull up and escort me home. The sun is already setting behind the tall skyscrapers. I just want to get home and take a rest before facing Namjoon. Tomorrow I'll have to call him and set up a time and place to meet. I have plenty to tell him. Gently I rubbed my thumb over the heart that's dangling from the chain around my neck. Right on queue a yellow Taxi pulled up beside me. The elderly man who climbed out of the cab, have a friendly smile upon his complexion. Effortlessly it reaches his eyes. He picked up my luggage and put it into the car's trunk. I climbed into the backseat, opposite the diver's end after he politely and respectfully open the door for me. He must have been a dream amist the ladies in his younger days. He walked around the vehicle and climbed in behind the wheel. "Where to, Miss?" He asked kindly. I can tell (not by his age) but by his maneuvers that this isn't his first day on the job. I feel safe knowing that he'll be my driver this evening. I gave him the address to my apartment. Occasionally we fall into conversation. Overall it was a smooth ride.

At the junction we slowed down to a stop, as the red light indicates. As the light flashed its safety indication, he put the car into drive and ride forward. Out of the norm I turned my head into the opposing direction. What I see is unfamiliar to my eyes. Another car bullets our way. Life as I know it, past my line of sight in complete slow motion. The other vehicle collided, in an unnatural speed, directly into the driver's side. Quickly filling me up with an uncanny void as I'm being washed with multiple emotions. At impact my head hits the passager seat with force. The tires screeched on the asphalt. Glass splinters takes flight like they've grown wings. It drew deathly quiet as the car came to a sudden halt. Life itself have slowed down, somehow. My heart pumps violently beneath my ribcage. My breathing irregular. I can hear my weak but rapid pulse, drumming in my ears like a drummer at a rock concert. Nausea hits me like a slash hammer. Breatheing hurts. I faint!

I've lost and regained consciousness multiple times. The paramatics must have performed some heavy CPR on me, for my chest is hurting like hell. The ambulance's warning alarm chimes loudly. Its flashing red lights are gleaming in through the back window. Pain is shooting through my entire body and head. I blacked out again. "I've got a faint pulse, Doctor," I could hear but just barely. I'm alive, but why does it feel so weird? Why can't I open my eyes? Am I in some kind of a coma? Trapped within my body! "Let's get her prepped and ready to go? Somebody should go through her personal belongings and contact someone on her behalf," the Doctor, I presume, ordered those around him. That's the last thing that I heard before static took over my hearing.
