Chapter 39 - Thirty Eight: Namjoon

"Abby what's the matter? You're scaring me, talk to me Abbs. Who was that?" I couldn't stop my questions from piling up. I took her gently by the arm and lead her towards the sofa. Sam's father just as calm and collected as I am, for the time being. Jin-hyung's girlfriend seems to be in shock. "I'm her emergency contact," she mumbled mostly to herself. I'm not liking this. I'm getting an uncanny vibe. I kneeled down on the carpet in front of her. She looks up at me, tears glistening in her eyes. Abby inhaled shakingly. I rubbed my hand upon her arm reassuringly. "That was the hospital. She had been in an accident on her way home," Abby send. Her response enveloped in irregular little sobbs. She? Who are Abby referring to? Her Sister? Samantha!? I'm not going to jump the gun just yet. I need to be absolutely sure. "Who? Who are you talking about, Abby? Your sister?" She looked down at her figiting fingers and shook her head. My heart physically stopped working. I jumped up and made for the front door in a hurry. Horror struck her father like a concrete floor, painted in multiple colours upon his complexion. It seems that the old coop has a breaking point too. "Namjoon, wait!?" I stopped in my tracks and turn my attention towards Abby. "There's something that you odd to know," she informed me in a tiny voice. "Can't it wait until later?" I shot back. Again she shook her head in reply. "The reason why Sam had been away for longer than planned is because her doctor required it." I arched my neck as I looked at her in utter confusion. Not trusting my voice to vocalise it, I asked the question with my eyes instead. "She's pregnant!" She exclaimed slightly. Disbelieve flash over me at the revolution. I fear the worst. I can't be angry with her, she must have had her reasons for not telling. I feel guilty for walking out on her, months prior. I'm worried about her and our unborn child. I have only myself to blame. Anxiety, shock and panic floods me like a tonic wave. I rushed out (without a second to spare). Pulled out my phone as I climbed behind the steering wheel and dialled Jin-hyung's number. It went straight to voicemail. "I'm on my way to the hospital. Sam's been in an accident, please inform the others." After successfully sending him the voicemail I throw my phone on the passenger seat and pulled out of the driveway. Quickly I reached the hospital parking lot and got a parking space closed to the entrance.

I rushed over towards the reception desk and asked almost completely out of breath: "Samantha Jones?" The woman's eyes turned soft. "Doctor Hanks is currently in the ER with her. I'll inform him of your arrival. Please, sit and wait?" I nodded at her before sitting down restlessly.

In the meantime my family, alongside Abby, JJ and Dan as well as their grandfather, arrived in the lobby. All of us waiting for the doctor. It's taking much to long in my personal opinion. Hitler from hell, or better known by the term Colin the Asian assassinater, isn't giving us much trouble. Not any to be honest! He sat off to one side, waiting just like the rest of us, on her doctors return. Just when I was about to stand and ask the lady at reception what's taking so long, a lean figure appear a few inches away. A mob of dirty blonde hair, disheveled upon his head. Glasses balancing on the bridge of his nose. Eyes droopy and tired, like he'd been in the ER for the last 24 hours. He walked up to us. "Family and friends of Samantha Bridget Jones, I presume?" He asked in a deep monotonous voice. "Yes, indeed we are. I'm her boyfriend and that's her father," I answered, pointing a finger into the old man's direction. He seems to be even greyer then before and messed up. The doctor nodded in understanding. I braced myself for what's to come. "The impact of the accident were so severe that the cab driver didn't survive the crash. In the collision her heart propelled forward along with the rest of her torso. Hitting the ribs and physically breaking her heart. I've managed to patch it up. The surgery was a huge success, but she needs to be monitored 24/7. We've lost her more than just a couple of times, causing the fetus oxygen deficiency. It's an absolute miracle that either of them survived, but they'll both be fine," he finished off. "May I see her?" I asked him hopefully. He nodded, "Currently she's in a deep slumber, but I see no problem in your request." I followed him towards her room. My heart fell into the soles of my feet, when I saw her frail and pale body laying motionless on the hospital bed. A baby monitor connected to her stomach. A strong heartbeat filling out the room. An Iv-sack hanging from a pole to her left. Thin twin-tubes spiralling from her nostrils. I sat down on the chair next to her bed. Leaned in closer and gently taking hold of her hand. "I'm never letting you go again. For as long as I shall live this I solemnly swear," I said mostly to myself. Internally wishing that my words would reach her unconscious mind.
