HE had a dream. A wonderful dream. An erotic dream, honestly.
Timothy yawned, stretching out as he sat up in his bed--
"This is not my bed," he muttered the obvious as his eyes adjusted to the unfamiliar environment.
The sun was up, shining brightly, so he could see properly. He could see that he was naked and that there was an equally naked person--woman beside him. And that clothes were on the floor, a condom, too.
Memories from last night suddenly rushed to him and he groaned internally. He was shocked and feeling guilty now. He couldn't believe he did all that.
The girl--Sapphire, seemed to be still asleep, so he gently moved away from her body and moved out the bed to his clothes on the floor, which he tiptoed on the floor to get. He froze as he saw her move slightly. Then he sighed in relief when she didn't wake up and wore his clothes. Because he kind of felt bad for leaving just like that, he arranged her clothes and picked the used condom to dispose and his phone and left, closing the door quietly.
The house was quiet with some persons passed out on the floor, half naked and all, with bottles, cans and cups on the floor... But no one woke up as he walked towards the door
He left the house without looking back, focused on his phone, which he discovered had more than 20 missed calls from his sister, Rowen, Roxanne--
"Shit," he cursed.
Shit, shit, shit!
Yup, he fucked up for real.
He decided then that he'd call his sister and then Rowen when he gets back to the dorms. He wasn't going to risk getting himself killed by Roxanne's betas by going to the mansion. A warm welcome wasn't what he'd recieve.
"Hey," he started as he called Rowen, walking down the street after calling for a cab.
"Hey! What happened yesterday?! We were calling you! Roxanne and the twins actually tracked your scent and all, but she left kinda pissed. The twins said they'd kill you, too," he said. "I mean, I know I said you should have fun and dance, I didn't think you'd totally disappear, man."
So she knew what happened then. He really was dead.
Timothy closed his eyes as he got into the cab. He proceeded to narrate what happened and had to endure Rowen's screams of surprise, comfort, then annoyance.
***
Timothy sighed internally, tired. He didn't expect to see his sister parked right in front of his dorms building. It wasn't like she knew what happened anyway, so he couldn't tell her the reason he was tired.
"Sorry I didn't call the other day," she said as they sat down in the cafe nearby after hugging each other.
"It's okay."
He didn't really mind that she didn't because he was busy with other things. Things she didn't need to know about.
For some reason, he felt guilty even though he didn't need to. It wasn't like he hurt her or disobeyed any advice she gave. He was an adult.
They placed their orders which came quickly, as Diane was giving random details about what happened at work, her roommate and other things.
"You smell weird," she said. "And look weird."
He nodded, not looking at her. But she didn't continue the conversation.
"So you know our parents are vampire and werewolf, right?" Diane started out of nowhere.
He raised his head. "Yeah?"
"I don't want you to get scared and leave," she said sadly. "I've been trying to keep it from you for the longest time so you'd have a good life, but I guess you can't runaway from some things."
She played with her spoon as she continued speaking, "I don't know much because they left us pretty early, but dad wasn't your regular werewolf..."
"An alpha?" he guessed.
Diane seemed conflicted with his response. A mixture of surprise and curiosity. She seemed like she wanted to ask how he knew about things like that. But if she remembered that he loved reading fantasy books, she'd realize that there were terms he'd be familiar with.
"Y--yes. But a different kind, from what I know because there's no way a werewolf and vampire could have a baby. It's impossible."
"But there are two of us," Timothy pointed out.
She nodded. "Dad had me with someone else."
Timothy paused in the drinking of his coffee. "Excuse me?"
She repeated, "Dad had me with someone else."
He wasn't feeling conflicted, but he was surprised. "So your real mother's a werewolf?"
Diane didn't respond immediately, probably because she thought he'd respond in a certain way because of the new information she'd just dropped.
"Well?"
"You're not shocked?"
Timothy sighed, reaching out to squeeze her hand on the table. "You're still my sister. Whether we're related by blood or not, I don't care. It doesn't change anything, Diane. Also, I've been bamboozled with information lately, I might as well take it."
Diane laughed humorlessly. "I really should've just told you earlier then. I didn't know you'd react like this. You always were too calm in certain situations."
Timothy smiled.
"My mother's a werewolf, yes. So I'm one, too."
Timothy's brows furrowed as he started thinking. "Where is she?"
"I don't know."
"Huh?"
"She tried to kill Victoria, your mother."
Timothy took a sip from his cup and focused on her now. "Would you mind just explaining everything from the beginning?"
Diane took her time to talk, now relaxed as she'd told her brother her biggest secret.
The story was simply that their father was the alpha of his pack and her mother was betrothed to him; they weren't in love. To fulfill his duty, their father got her pregnant and they gave birth to her. It was all good till there was a plan to expand and they encountered vampires. There was no such thing as soulmates from all they knew so it was a shock when Victoria, who was the daughter of the leader of the vampires and Daniel, their father were drawn together. Of course, it was more of an abomination and angered everyone from both sides. Daniel felt like since he and his wife Amanda weren't really in love, it would be okay to love someone else. That was really dumb on his part because once she got a whiff of what he wanted to do, she got angry.
"How exactly do you know all of this?" Timothy interrupted. "It's quite...detailed."
"My uncle and her brother Luke, kept a journal."
"Is he still alive?"
"Nope," she said. "Want me to continue?"
Timothy gave her a sign to continue. It felt like the coffee he took made him more awake than before.
Amanda spread rumors about vampires, both true and untrue, thereby fueling the hate towards them. It took a while for the alpha to realize what was going on, as he was trying to win the approval of Victoria's people; trying to bring peace. The vampires were attacked, so a war began brewing. Victoria and Daniel decided to runaway with Diane in tow, seeing as her mother barely cared for her anyway. That action fueled the anger of Amanda and the pack because to them, Diane was their future leader, Daniel was their alpha and Victoria was an enemy. They ran so far away and used the help of a witch to prevent people from tracking them, except Luke of course. Luke was always observant of his sister's ways and for some reason, couldn't talk. So he had a journal for everything. Till he died in the most unexpected way. Amanda became the new leader naturally after the two lovers left, and because she was scared of what she'd discover, Diane decided not to go in search for anything of lineage. She had no power and no family, so it was probably a suicide mission.
The journal though, was given to Diane when Luke finally found them. He was the one who provided everything from a house, to the human who was taking care of them.
"Who's the witch?"
Diane shrugged. "Don't know. But she was involved in the making of your necklace." She pointed the chain around his neck. "She's also involved in the process of your birth which, when it was discovered, caused another war...crazy, really. Don't know how they found that out, but I don't know anymore than what I'd read from my uncle's journal though."
Feeling unsatisfied, Timothy asked, "How did they die?"
"I don't know if they're dead. I don't think they are," Diane said softly. "They just never came back one day. Somehow my uncle found us and that's it."
Timothy felt unsettled by her answer. How could two powerful supernatural beings just disappear into thin air?
"The Oracle," he muttered in realization. "She knows something for sure."
Then he proceeded to tell her about his first dream. She took it all well, probably because he hadn't told her everything.
"I know about her. Well, from the books I've read, she's all powerful and all. I bet you don't exactly know how we are supposed to contact her," Diane said, rolling her eyes. "The necklace literally prevents--"
"The necklace?" He touched the cold chain around his neck. He was trying to remember what it's use was for.
"The necklace prevents any supernatural occurrence from happening, from other beings to you and from yourself."
So that's why she said she couldn't reach me, he thought, remembering his encounter with The Oracle.
"Um...I have some things to tell you," he said.
Even if she didn't ask, it was his turn to tell her about what he'd been up to, the mark he found on his arm and the wolves, and even the girl of last night. As he expected, she was shocked, livid and scared. Turns out he caused all his own problems by taking off the necklace that one time.
Fuck.
