Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

We make our own plans and do our own best but heavens have the final decision.

"My fiancee is satanic," whispers very weak Dodo who has just come back from coma on still closed eyes, where she has been for three weeks.

Sleeping but alert mother cannot believe a person, no matter how convincing you maybe, when you tell her she hasn't heard a word coming out of her daughter's mouth. So fast she sits upright and starts calling "my daughter! my daughter! is that you?! come on I've just heard you say something! Dodo my daughter....!" she calls, on top of it touching with gentle checks. Dodo opens her eyes in a slow motion, "Mom," she notices her mother by pronouncing her title. "It's alright my daughter, am here for you," says mother. Tears of joy start dripping from mother's eyes in a long run.

"Oh my god Dodo," Lala sighs when she bumps into the room and sees her friend's eyes blinking. Mr Jiang follows in tailing behind with a bunch of pink flowers, he smiles widely after noticing the unexpected improvement. Quickly Lala gets close to where the patient is, "my daughter has finally arised," and mother says. "You're awake my sister," Lala talks in blissful state of comfort. "It's better he gets a surprise by himself," says mother when Lala asks her whether she has informed father already." Lala jokes in her friend's face how it seems she has got a lot of friends depending on the many flowers scattered in the room making her smile when she hears that.

Officer Stone comes along to pay his visit to the patient Dodo as a family close friend. Along the way on the hospital entrance from a short distance he sees Mr James who has already passed the reception. He quickly follows making wider foot steps to get to him. "Sir ," he yells at him as he gets more closer towards. Mr James hears a calling voice which forces him to kill his steps and look behind. It is officer Stone, the person he knows very well. "Oh, you came," says Mr James turning a few steps back to fetch him. 'Sir Don informed me about his fiancé's admission earlier this morning which made me rush to pay my visit," tells officer Stone walking on casually together with Mr James to meet the room where the patient is. "I can't believe it is three weeks in coma and I don't even know about it" he adds, "am really a useless friend." "You're a very busy man so you don't have to blame yourself" he consoles him, "that aside how would you have known if no one endeavored informing you! With that all been digested, the blame is on us not you." "What is the medical report from doctors?" Asks officer Stone. "Her condition is still the same for three weeks now so the best we've been doing is to put in our continuous prayers and wait for what heavens have to deliver," answers Mr James as he approachs to open up the door.

"Lala you're here, am glad to see you," says Mr James looking warm. "Nice to see you and the officer, " she replies.

"Dad!" with a willing spirit but a weak body, mentions the patient he expects to be in a coma. "Dodo my daughter" he yells a surprised voice, "you're awake!" Your reaction was important to me" brags mother after watching the excitement of her husband, "that's why I didn't call to let you know." "You mean....!" he looks at his wife, "she...." excitedly stuck in words. "uh uh," approves mother about her daughter's well being to the husband nodding her head with a smile.

Suddenly, mother shocks everyone when her face drastically changes to become rude. No one understands why her happy mood has died instantly. "What's is wrong mother," asks Lala on recognizing the situation. Everyone is now looking at her with too much attention, instead she avoids to air out a single word, keeping her eyes away from anyone.

"I believe tomorrow she's going to be ready to go according to her condition," the doctor tells the members after doing several check ups and removing her from the life support machines. Dodo can now sit and eat something in her weak body state. Thank you doctor, says all members except mother in her depressed condition.

"She woke up in the morning," communicates officer Stone from outside the room on mobile phone. "That's good to hear," responds Don inside his car.

"I have a very big appetite" says Dodo when she is told to take it slow on eating at the family dinner the evening she's discharged from the hospital. "Make sure you don't chock," Lala advises her on how she's eats terribly at a rabbit speed.

"Mother calling," displays on Lala's phone. "Since mother came back she has been all alone quiet in her bedroom without allowing anyone to visit" says dodo, "I wonder what she wants to tell you." "For all the time I've taken care of her, I've discovered she doesn't talk when her mind is under any disturbance" Lala responds saying, "good she's calling now." "Please come upstairs with Dodo," she says on phone. "She needs both of us" Lala reports in a whisper, "okay mom we're on our way." Getting set to walk to where they have been called, Mr James shows up from another direction. "Hey, are you running away from me? I don't think it's a good idea to leave food on table? he asks jokingly walking towards the table, "am joining you for the meal." "Sorry dad but Mom needs us urgently," replies Lala. "What?, you mean she's ready to talk now!" father wonders, " this time round it's different she usually takes two to three days, a week if not longer. Lets just go up together."

"I called my daughters," she says with an implication that maybe his husband is not supposed to be here. "Am your husband, your condition is very important to me," dad replies pleading.

Skipping a bit after sighs she say, "The struggle, ruthlessness and pain. The screams! Officer Stone... Officer Stone!" she yells, "when I looked at those scars on his arm." Mother expresses the pain inside her and by looking at her body language, emotionally everyone around can feel it. "What exacly are you talking about?" asks father wondering on a wrinkled face. Dodo quickly figures out what mother could be talking about then looks at her father and says; " Exactly." The one word that comes out of her mouth in a whisper. "Officer Stone!" Lala exclaims looking confused at everyone around, "can someone please explain to me what this is all about "officer Stone" she says, " that has spoilt the whole soup!" "I saw those scar marks on his arm" mother elaborates with wrath on her face, "when he was placing flowers on the bed side in the hospital, the arm, position of those scars and the type, simply brought back all those memories. They exactly tell the same painful story I went through that night. I tried to imagine him in a mask with those dark clothes on his body size, it was a perfect match."

"I suspected and informed you dad but you swept it under the carpet," says Dodo wildly opening her eyes straight to her father. She turns around and quietly walks out of the door. With in no minute, Lala also follows behind chasing on her. "What exactly is about officer Stone that is bothering everyone in this house," asks Lala inquisitively standing infront facing her on the stairs. "Officer Stone is suspected to have put mom in the condition she's in right now," she answers. "You mean the thief who pushed mother from the third floor?!" Wondering Lala asks. "Yes," replies Dodo as she continues to slop down the stairs and this time looking very upset.

"I think we should not rush into conclusions" says Mr James to his wife, "let's try to solve the matter professionally." "You don't understand" mother speaks in a very unkind state, "if I don't get justice it is going to keep haunting me like a ghost late in the night." "Besides who is a professional detective among us?" She asks, "your man (officer Stone) has been used in all legal proceedings of our family that why I don't blame you for defending him. The trust I have in my daughters is beyond doubt that is why I called on them not you."

"We were expecting you at the hospital before but you didn't show up until this late night," talks Mr James to Don on their meeting conducted in the sitting room. "I had business" he replies in confidence, "but am here now." "You really think it's responsible to show up at midnight and wake everyone up?" yells angry mother in a wheelchair. Forgive me for being this irresponsible," apologizes Don. "Why isn't Dodo here?" He asks. "She doesn't want to see you not even telling us why!" says mother, "and she doesn't want the wedding anymore that's what she said when she got home from the hospital. Amazingly, she wasn't mad either." "Is that the reason why her phone is off," he asks, "because since from the time I got information that she's awake I've been trying it but all in vain." "Who informed you?!" wondering mother in question, "we agreed not to spread it and if any family member was to find out, was visiting by themselves." "If am not mistaken, officer Stone could have told you" father says doubtlessly, "the time he excused himself out at the hospital."

Obviously by the gestures, Don has nothing to say about Mr James' conclusion for it is the truth.

"Alright" he says, "would you please excuse me." Standing up from his seat, Don walks upstairs upto Dodo's bedroom door. "Knock knock, " sleeping Dodo is awaken by the three times knock sound on her door. Throwing away the duvet off her naked body, she picks a cloth nearby which she wraps around her waist as she stands up to get the door. Rudeness covers her face when she opens up the door and is Don she sets eyes on. She immediately pushes the door to close back which Don resists to happen by holding with his foot in the shoe. He straight away forces himself inside. "What are you doing here?" Rudely asks Dodo as she walks away to distance herself from him.

Am here to see you" he says finding himself a comfortable place to sit, "we need to have a serious talk." "I don't want to talk to you Don" calmly speaks Dodo, "just leave because I don't care about anything you have to tell me."

"You cut off the wedding" he speaks without any worries, "I want to thank you for this." "I wish you a quick recovery" he adds standing up, "take care of yourself for the good of mom and dad." He gently walks but before he holds the door handle, "You're so disgusting," rudely she turns to face his direction and yells. Don stands steel as if he wants to say something, but then he decides to grab the handle, opens the door and walks out.

"Goodnight mom, goodnight dad. am sorry to interrupt your resting time," he bow to them in total respect, continues to pick his coat which is laying on the sofa and he walks out that late night. "Do you think it was peaceful up there?!" wonders mother worriedly looking at her husband. Cobra and Python outside prepare to escort their boss as it is always Done. Automatically the phantom rare door opens, he gets in and still it closes automatically. The convoy is ready to slide out of the mansion.

Dodo siting on her bed side with a mobile phone in her hands, her eyes focused on the roof sealing and thinking deeply. After a little while, she takes a deep breathe and stands up. Gently walking without looking behind, she grabs her bedroom door to open, "you can come in," she airs out. "Who is here if you may ask!" Lala flirters. "Please grab a sit Lala," she says directing her on a side seat. "Stop this funny treat sister, am not a visitor here" says Lala smiling it off as she grabs the seat alocated to her, " this is like my room too for I've even slept here several times."

"The best person god has ever brought into my life as a friend is you, I want to tell you that I appreciate you so much and I will always do" Dodo tells Lala holding a lousy smile, "you're truly an angel on earth." "You've always told me cheerful words but not in such a condition" joyfully says Lala smiling, "hurry up and give me that gift you've prepared to surprise me, my lovely sister." Dodo presses the phone and the screen lights up unlocked. Standing up and walking direct towards her, she hands over the mobile phone for viewing. Lala playfully collects it to see what exactly Dodo is trying to show her. "Wow, this! " blissful she speaks after looking at her wedding photo displayed on the phone screen, " the couple of the century." She continues to hold the phone close on her chest proudly with her eyes closed fully in passion. "I can really see how you love him," says Dodo standing next to her. "Yes, he's a very wonderful husband," she compliments him.

"That's Don," speaks Dodo on a serious note. "Oh yes, I told you that your fiancée Mr Don will turn up to be a very wonderful man with time" continuously smiling she says, "you had no reason to cry the other times." "Am extremely glad to be here if you may ask" in a very happy mood she speaks, "I can't wait to walk with flower petals, scattering them on the floor for my best friend and her husband to step on." That man you wedded, IS MY FIANCE DON," Dodo stresses the point opening her eyes widely and close enough direct into Lala's eyes. Lala laughs like; "Wait a minute, have you gone crazy or something?! I mean, are you serious with what you're talking about?! Hahaha Lala laughs more and adds, "I know you like joking sometimes so I won't take it serious."

"Am so darn serious, Don is the man you wedded," Dodo proves her unbelievable point by throwing pictures of her and Lala's known to be Mr Yang on the table showing from since their childhood. At this time, Lala starts to feel worried and her innocent beautiful face begins to change into misery. She can nolonger feel the comfort of the chair she is sitting on so she decides to stand up but again her legs together with the feet get more uncomfortable on the floor she is standing on so she sits back on the chair.

"Please tell me you're joking," she begs on a grief face, viewing pictures from the table one by one and her body begins to shiver. Dodo doesn't need to mention a word any more to explain herself. The seriousness on her face and the scattered pictures on the table, makes it so obvious she is not joking. Lala, slowly brings the phone so close to her eyes and scrolls the wedding pictures she sent to Dodo which suddenly results into her busting loud in tears. Dodo comes just close enough and collects her mobile phone back. She then sits on the arm of the chair her friend Lala is sitting on and starts to comfort her by pulling her head slowly to lean on her lap. Lala can only do one thing; Cry. It started immediately she reported at the mansion for duty during her time in midday that Dodo called her phone number to come and meet upstairs in her bedroom. All along Dodo was watching the time up in the window to when Lala is going to be arriving. As soon as the cab drops Lala in the compound, Dodo sends her a call. Right now Dodo looks a little bit relieved after removing the heavy loads of pressure and worries she has been carrying on her heart off that made her to pass out into coma.

"Does mother and father know about this," she asks while standing up with great strength after crying for some good time on Dodo's laps. "No" she replies, "by the time I walked into mom's room to inform her after receiving your wedding pictures, I passed out due to the unbearable shock and on waking up, I found myself on the hospital bed with drips on my hand and oxygen tubes covering both my nose and mouth."

"I thought about it carefully afterwards" she elaborates more, "then in my minds came an understanding that you're innocent." "I actually thought more about my family, mom, dad, Don himself" she mentions posing a bit in thoughts, "you in particular a very beautiful friend of mine, and all the beautiful times we share that I don't want to miss. I don't know exactly what this may result into but whatever results arise, am conc sure it is not at all going to be pleasing."

"Am sorry but I cannot work today in this state of mind" she says looking dizzy, "Please tell mother for me that I will come tomorrow, see you sister." She picks her handbag from the table and walks out of the bedroom door.

Lala spends the whole day until sunset on the beach sorrowfully going through wonderful happy memories, found of excellent moments she values that she has been sharing with her husband Mr Yang. From here she heads straight to the club were she spends the six hours of her time jumping to the music and making herself a complete waste to alcohol trying to get rid of the pains inside her heart and deadly thoughts crossing her minds. She tries to go crazy with every man that comes her way asking for a dance. Mr Jiang's cab parks outside the club to pick up a client which happens to be a couple. After the clients open the rear to sits, Mr Jiang sets his eyes on Lala walking out from the club entrance but from his view of things she seems out of control. No stamina and a strange man is pulling her by the hand. Quickly without minding the clients inside the cab, Mr Jiang steps out and walks courageously straight infront of the man. Acting fearless, "Excuse me, that's my daughter you're pulling like a goat," he bravely talks on top of his voice. He puts his hand inside the jacket like he's picking a weapon, of which the move works perfectly. The man who has already taken a fighting position senses danger, forcing him to release Lala and take off. Mr Jiang exhales a sigh of survival after the strange man's disappearance. "Can you please get out of my cab and trace another one" he says kindly to the couple inside, "I need to take my daughter home right now."
