He bites the piece of cake.
"I have found him," his subordinate reports to him immediately his patrol parks outside the police station. "What do you mean?!" Officer Stone asks wondering. "The son of Sir Gordon The Don, I've found him," with total confidence the subordinate talks. In a rush, officer Stone jumps out of the patrol car. "Meet me in my office," he orders him.
A pearl white RangeRover sport Autobiography 2023 model parks outside the police station. Mr James walks out to the other side and opens the passenger's door. He then walks behind to opens the tail gate and picks the walking sticks, brings them to supports his wife to step out too. Slowly, Mrs James holds on the supports and steps out. Very fast, Mr James closes all doors one after the other. He walks next to his wife and now they can walk together into the police station.
From the other side, officer Stone sees and walks ahead to meet them. He greets both of them respectfully, shaking hands with Mr James.
"We don't need to sit for any reasons" speaks Mrs James, "just take us where you claim to have seen our son, please."
"Do you think we have to catch him," Mr James asks officer Stone. "He is not a mad man," the subordinate to officer Stone says, "it's important to have it in minds and handle him with respect."
"Isn't that your phone vibrating if am not mistaken!" says Mrs James to her husband. He fixes his hand in the pockets to check on it. It's not the one on looking at it. "I think it's yours that was vibrating," says Mr James handing the handbag to his wife. "Yes, you're right," she speaks after noticing a missed call. "It's our daughter," she says. Immediately, Mrs James dials her daughter's number. "She called in the right time, why don't you surprise her with the good news!" Mr James tells the wife.
Dodo taps on the phone screen to answer. "Mom!...," speaks Dodo standing inside the office looking through a wide glass window. "How have you been my dear, " speaks Mrs James. "All is well mom hope you and dad are in good heath," she says. "You don't need to worry much about us" mother says, "it is important to take good care of your health, eat well and find a husband who can take care of you for me."
"Mom is much in her moods... She's happy," Dodo thinks this before she speaks any response. "She is usually tough when talking about me getting a man," all this cross Dodo's minds. Mr James looks at his wife like "darn" why do you go into that line now it's not the right time.
"It's alright mom, I think there's someone am seeing," Dodo replies in a convincing voice and smile behind the phone.
In too much excitement, mom drops one of the walking sticks and puts her hand palm on the phone, "Do you believe she says she's seeing someone!" she whispers so loud for everyone around to hear. Her stubbornness makes the officers to look really confused. "My wife is always like that" says Mr James to the officers, "you need to calm down and give her space." "My daughter" back on phone with her daughter, Mrs James says, "use all the techniques so that he doesn't get his eyes off you." "Eat a diet, don't forget your makeup to always look beautiful and smile always in his presence," adds excited mother. "He has not said anything concerning love to me mom, you don't have to put your expectations so high," she says walking around her office. "Nothing to worry about my daughter" she replies obsessively, "if you like him just follow my advise." Dodo has to put her mother's concerns on hold. She changes the topic by saying; "There's something important you and dad need to know.... It is the major reason I called." "Speak your father is right here with me" she puts the phone in loud speaker for her husband to participate. "Yes am listening my daughter," speaks Mr James.
"This is about Lala," Dodo says. "Lala...!" Wondering fills both of them including officer Stone because he also knows Lala very well. Worried and inquisitive after hearing the name Lala, "What do you want to tells us about Lala," asks Mr James.
"Lala is here in USA," communicates Dodo. WHAT! together husband and wife yell. The same news lands in officer Stone's ears and he whispers, "Unbelievable," to himself on a wondering face. "I too couldn't believe it at first when I saw her at the hotel" Dodo narrates to her parents, "until when she took off the dark shades from her eyes."
Still in shoke about the information, Mr James and wife can't air out a single word. Instead they are looking disturbed, at them selves.
"That is not the major issue mom and dad" Dodo continues to say, " the most important thing, she is not the same Lala we used to know. "What do you mean by not the same Lala?" Mother tries to understand what she doesn't understand through asking. "She hosts meetings with heads of states," briefly she explains. "And to make matters worse, I think I fall in love with her personal secretary," Dodo communicates a worry full story to the parents to the extent that the last statement leaves mother with nothing but to find a place to sit. She sits down on the floor. Mr James immediately collects the mobile phone from his weakened wife, he presses it out of the loud speaker and puts it on his ear "Dodo, it is your father. Please tell me everything."
"Lala is a very rich woman and if am not mistaken, she is richer than you and mother combined," says Dodo.
"As I talk, this morning at the hotel, a presidential convoy picked her with up and she sat together in the same car with the POTUS (President Of The United States)," Dodo narrates. Further more she says; "She slept in the most expensive suite at our hotel and even paid for five delegates the same executive suites for one full month." "Did you talk to her," Mr James asks. "No dad" answers Dodo sitting down in her office chair, "I didn't even get a single chance no matter how much I tried." "She's not easily accessible," she answers. Mr James takes a deep breath and says; "The police has also discovered where Don stays." "Really?!" Happily wonders Dodo. "Yes, by the time you called us we have just reported at the police station," Mr James tells his daughter. "Is that true that he is a mad man like rumors state it?" Asks Dodo. "No one is sure of that, we have to first confirm it," says Mr James. "It worries me a lot dad," she says how unfair life could be." "Even if it is so it's not difficult to treat him," says Mr James to his daughter all still behind the phone call, "no need for you to worry." "It's a relief for me dad that is finally found" she says, "please bring him back home safely..... And tell mom I love her so much," she sends her regards. "I will," Mr James responds so lovely.
After the conversation on phone Mr James kneels down on the floor to meet his wife. The walking sticks have scattered already.
"Will my daughter really get married," Mrs James speaks sadly shading tears while looking in his husband's eyes.
"Don't tell me you're serious about this," He replies picking a handkerchief from his suit pants. "Of course our daughter is going to get married," he gives his wife strength and hope helping her out to whip off the dripping tears. "Please stand up," he requests. Being comforted by the words from her husband's mouth, she collects herself with the help of her husband and officer Stone on both sides to stand up on her feet. Officer Stone's patrol partner picks up the scattered walking sticks and gives her to support herself properly.
"We have to go and find our son Don too" says Mr James, "so you have to put yourself together." "Please don't get distracted," he requests her.
"I think we have to go now," says officer Stone. Mr James and wife look at him and start walking towards getting out of the police station. Cars on their way to find out about Don is the RangeRover sport following behind the police patrol. In no time, the cop who discovered the location tells officer Stone to reduce on the speed. Mr James notices the patrol slowing down, since he's been driving from behind he does the same. The Patrol stops. "The remaining distance is walkable," the subordinate says. He leads the way and the rest have to follow. After seeing all the three cops coming out of the car, "I think this is it" says Mr James to his wife, "It's better for you to stay in the car."
Mrs James understands her condition so she accepts to stay behind. Besides, she is obedient and respectful. Her husband goes on to join the officers.
"Right their at the old cottage," points a finger the cop. "It is wise for you Mr James to go alone" suggests officer Stone, "so we don't make him feel like a criminal."
Mr James buys the idea straight away and begins to move forward. Carefully walking and dodging obstacles, he reaches at the cottage. Slowly on tiptoes, he peeps through the window inside. From the back, he can see a man relaxing in a chair but he can't see the face to clearly approve whether he is the target, Don. He chooses to walk in silence towards the door. He slowly pushes it to open, but since the door is very old, he couldn't resist the noise it makes. Don is already on his two feet looking aggressive facing the door way with a pistol in his hands pointing, ready to shoot the intruder. A gun shot is heard by the officers in a distance. "Darn," speaks officer Stone. He jumps out of the cover with his subordinates and runs so fast towards the cottage. Mrs James too has heard a gun shot. Her eyes open wide with fright. She tries so hard to make it out of the RangeRover on her own. She opens the passenger's door and throws herself outside on to the ground. Trying so hard, she crawls upto behind the car with the remote control key. In a painful struggle, she sits upright and presses the remote on the key to open the rear gate which opens immediately. Now she crawls closer more and supports herself on the car to raise a little bit higher. The struggle is to pick out her walking sticks one by one. It's so painful but she endures. She picks out the first stick and supports her to stand with it. Then easier than before, she picks the second one. She presses the button up the tail gate and it closes. It's now time for her to follow up where the whole team went. But she is too slow.
Officer Stone and his cops bump in the cottage. Their eyes land on Mr James down on the ground. Don is kneeling next to him crying. "What have you just done!" yells officer Stone getting down to check on Mr James. "The bullet just got the upper arm," he shouts in a panic, "we got to hurry him up to the hospital." Don is crying like a little boy saying he is so sorry. The officers gathered their strength, lift Mr James up onto Officer Stone's back. He starts running with him at the back upto where the cars are parked. Mrs James cannot believe it is her husband on the back of Officer Stone. she begins to cry, yelling, "what has happened to my husband?" Officer Stone quickly fixes Mr James inside the rear passenger of the RangeRover. "You need to sit fast," in panic he speaks to Mrs James, "in case of any delays he might loose a lot of blood." The other two cops hurry to lift Mrs James into the car with no wastage of time. Her walking sticks got and packed into the patrol. Officer Stone goes into the cockpit of the RangeRover and starts it, so fast he accelerates to leave the area. The Patrol doesn't hesitate to follow up at the same hyper speed.
Don stays in the cottage shading tears, crying so loud. "I didn't not intend to do it" he cries, "am truly sorry." "Forgive me please," he cries but no one is around to hear him. "Please don't die," more griefing words in tears all alone by himself right now. Don sits down with his back against the wall and leans his head on folded hands laid down on his two bent knees. He's confounded about what's going to happen next. The man he just shot is his foster dad who he loves so much.
"How?!" yells Dodo, "I've just got off the phone with him a few hours ago, he was very fine." "Don shot him with a bullet," mother couldn't wait to inform her daughter about her dad's condition. Dodo begins to cry straight away on hearing this shocking news.
"He has lost a lot of blood" communicates the doctor who walks out from the emergency room to mother, officer Stone and a unknown lady who has joined them, "we have put him on blood drips." Mrs James was still on phone with her daughter but she decides to put the phone on hold to hear what the doctor has to say. "Will he be alright?" worriedly she asks. "He has passed out during the surgery" says the doctor "we now wait for the heavens to do its work." Mrs James's worry increases and her eyes yields tears again.
"Mom...mom!" Dodo calls behind the phone. Her mother is not responding. "This is all because of the heartless girl call Lala" says Dodo, "I must teach her a lesson." She ends the call. When her mother puts the phone back on the ear to talk, the call has already been ended. She dials it again. "My daughter?" speaks Mrs James. "Yes mom I hear you," Dodo responds but all she hears on the phone is her mother tear sniffing. "Is dad okay?!" She asks. "He's unconscious right now due to excessive blood loss," crying mother informs her daughter.
"What is it that I didn't do for Lala mom?!" she questions with excessive anger. "Take it easy my daughter," she tries to calm her down. "No, mom!" aggression has already eaten Dodo up. "I treated her like my own sister mom, gave her a life she never had even leaving my fiancée Don for her all because I wanted her to be happy mom!" out of anger and a feeling of disappointment, Dodo cries. Her mother is also crying behind the phone call.
"Instead...." Dodo sniffs, "She decided to run away..., right now living lavish in the US... Lala is so heartless mom... for two years she doesn't even mind how we felt... Our family was very happy.... she has caused nothing to us but pain. Don lost all his conscience because of her.... my dad right now is in a very critical situation with a thin line between his life and death, laying on the hospital bed... If it wasn't for Lala's wickedness mom we would have been fine," with too much anger, aggression, hatred and wrath Dodo speaks on phone. "Who on earth does what Lala has done to our family mom?!" She yells with rage. Her mother Mrs James has nothing else to say, she can feel her daughter's pain.
"Please be careful my daughter," says Mrs James sorrowfully in tears. The unknown grown up lady tries to give comfort through hugging her. "Its alright," she tells Mrs James. Dodo hungs up the phone. She sits down on the office chair with rage showing in her eyes.
She stands up and picks her handbag together with the phone from the office table. Before she walks out of that office door, she arranges her physical appearance t look attractive, puts some makeup on to hide sorrow and disguises the cry looking eyes behind dark shades. She opens the door and begins to walk gently out of the building.
While on the way out, her mobile phone rings inside the handbag. She stops and picks it out. It is Mr Owen calling. "Setting up herself like she's receiving a call from her favorite actor, Dodo takes a deep breath before she answers. After making herself so calm, "I didn't know anyone can think about me especially at this time." She answers calmly with a smile. "I have a whole free evening so I thought I should invite you... since we have things we share in common," Owen talks as he sun baths on the beach. As a handsome young man, girls can't stop waving at him when the pass. He has no problem with responding to them, waving back. "What do we share in common?!" putting on a wondering but happy face, Dodo asks. "We have the same taste of wine," he says. "Uh... that's not satisfying for a lady to join a man for a whole evening," says Dodo jokingly. "How about when I say there is an important message I would like to deliver to you," Owen adds more spice into the request. That's... somehow but... can you please spice it more!" she says, "or else I may miss." Own discovers he needs to be more creative in his words. He now sits upright and says, "We had an awesome night last night at the terrace.... It has never got off my mind. That's why....."
"Okay, I will join you," she accepts happily. "YEAH...!" yells Owen excitedly to the extent of distracting the neighbours close to him. He notices it late that he shouted when he sees everyone looking at him. He rolls his eyes widely open around the place from left to right in shyness. "Am... so... sorry," he whispers, slowly leans his back on to the sunbathing bed on putting his dark shades on.
