SOFIA
"HEY," I SAID, startling Natalia, who was staring at her phone once more. "Still waiting for her call?"
She nodded and sighed. We are at the amusement park, and her mood is still gloomy. We are here at the bottom of Star Frisbee waiting for Haruka. She rode there three times, and here she is, still waiting in line to ride it.
"You know, you're clingy," I joked with her and she smiled, but I was hit on the arm before that.
Finally, Natalia speaks. "I'm just worried."
"Is there something to be worried about?" I asked in astonishment. Still looking up at the rides where Haruka was.
"I don't know. Girlfriend instinct?" I heard her say.
I couldn't help but laugh. I looked at her. "What the--- Nat? Is that you? You're not just clingy, you're being cliché too," I teased her, which reaped a pinch on the side from her. "Ouch! You're really sadistic!" I complained and scratched the part she pinched.
"It's your fault! Who said you can harass me?" She said, frowning. I threw my other hand to her shoulder and looked up again at Haruka's ride. My girlfriend is enjoying herself and screaming from her seat.
"Well, that Saint Peter's agent is really different, isn't she? Look. She brought out the really clingy but sweet Natalia."
"Stop patronizing me," she said. But I knew it was a hoax.
"So don't worry there. I'm sure she can defend herself." I was trying to ease her worries. She nodded. "So, you two are really mates, huh?"
"Huh? What mate?" There was a look of astonishment on her face.
"You don't know what mate is? July did no---"
"Ah, girlfriend. Stupid. We're already there, aren't we?" She cut me off.
"Huh?" I was the one who was confused now.
"July said, the mate is equivalent to the girlfriend," she explained. Ah, that's what she knew.
"When did she tell you that?" Should I tell her? But should I tell her before July explains it to her?
"You keep on asking that. Haven't I already told you?" I started to reminisce. "Hello? That time we were at Faerie Landia," she whispered. "July and Ely fought in front of adults."
"Ah, I remember that," I answered. She did not tell me the whole story of what happened to her on the island and faerie Landia, just a few. Natalia can't remember much of what happened either. I don't know why.
Hmm, should Natalia really know now? Because if I say that's the true mating now, maybe July has a plan. It's difficult to explain because mating is not an easy thing to do. It requires total commitment, and I don't know Natalia's take on that. Maybe, July is looking for a good timing, so she hasn't told Natalia that yet.
"Why are you quiet now?" she asked as my mind flew.
"Ah, just thinking," I replied.
"What are you thinking?" Natalia is so adamant sometimes.
"Ah, what---" It was difficult to continue to answer her. "Uhm--- h-how to I tell Haruka our secret? You know, about who we are." Haruka knew nothing about me being a supernatural being. As well as the secret of Natalia. I still can't tell her, especially since she's my mate. I don't know yet if she will accept me.
Although Natalia knows about me, I still have a lot of things hidden from her. She only knows as much as I don't want to talk more about myself unless I am the one who initiates the topic. And even when I still hid a lot of information, Natalia still befriended me and she trusted me. That's how kind she really is.
"That's hard. But I can see that she loves you. But I'm not saying that you will say it to her now. Take your time. I know how long it took you for her to accept your love. So don't be in a hurry. In time, everything will just fall into place."
I smiled at her. "That's why I love you." I also kissed her on the forehead.
"I love you, too, Pia," she replied. "So, you didn't even notice that I was a mermaid?"
"I had the idea, but I can't confirm it since that was only once when we saw your 'allergy'. Your feet had just turned red when the President led you inside the cabin. He doesn't want anyone to see your transformation as the Little Mermaid," I added, teasing her. She hit me on the arm again. Ouch! No, it does not hurt. I was just being dramatic.
"Dad also hid my true identity for a long time, but I'm also happy because he still accepted me even though his daughter is like this."
"That's true. Kudos to him. But wait--- Is he not a part of the supernatural being?"
"I don't know. We haven't talked about that yet. But Dad doesn't seem to be a member. I'm more convinced that Mom is the mermaid."
"Yeah, your mother looks like she's a member of the supernaturals."
"It's like you are saying that my father was ugly, so he wouldn't be part of the supernaturals?"
"That's not it." Natalia is really something. Her thinking is sometimes so narrow. "I'm just saying that I also have a stronger feeling that your mother is really the mermaid." I mentally "whew" when she just nodded. "Our family is weirder." I'll tell her the story of my family. Just little by little.
"Huh? Why?"
"Have you heard about hybrids?"
"Yeah. A lot of animals are just like that."
"Oh, Natalia. I mean, to those like us."
"Oh, okay?"
"My aunt, who is also a hybrid, half-human, half-vampire. Aunt Amor married the mermaid, Aunt Eva. See? Even in the supernatural world, there are fractions. But the supernaturals must be united and not divided."
"That's cool!" exclaimed Natalia. "So, did you go to Serenity? I heard that place when Dad and Ely were talking. Ely lives there, and Mom is said to be a former resident there."
"I did not because that's for mer people only. If you're not a mermaid or their mate, you can't go there because it's underwater. As in, deep deep deep water."
"Oh my god! So, my mom is really a mermaid," Natalia whispered. I nodded.
"Cool!" we both said.
"Have you met many mermaids?" she asked.
"Actually, only you two and Aunt Eva are the only ones I met. Because Aunt Ev is my other aunt's mate. Then ah… Aunt Flame. Yeah, Aunt Ev's twin. All I know is that she has a sister, but I haven't really met her. There is still one, but I haven't met that one yet. Her name was, hmm, Elvie or Ella? I can't remember. "
"Hmm, Eva and--- what's your hybrid aunt's name again?"
"Amor," I replied. What was she thinking again?
"Hmm… Eva and Amor? The names are so familiar. Hmm..."
"Gals! Gals!" Haruka called us. She seems to be done with her rides. "It's so much fun there!" Natalia and I cut off our conversation.
"Did you enjoy it?" I asked her, and she smiled and hugged me like a child. There's a bonus kiss on the cheek too! Ayee.
"I'm hungry, babe," she said. Was that kiss a request for a favor?
Natalia and I just laughed. "Come on, let's eat," I said to the two of them.
"All right, you go first. I'm just going to use the bathroom," Natalia said.
"Are you sure? Do you want us to go with you?" I asked.
"No. I will be fine. You order and then I'll follow. The guards are here to watch over me."
I just nodded when I saw Natalia's guards not far away. It looks like nothing bad will happen. I just thought that.
"Okay, see you." And we parted ways.
And that was the last time I saw Natalia.
