Chapter 8 - The Club

STEPHANIE SAT ON THE CHAIR AS Elise paced around the living room, except that it was barely so anymore. It more resembled a closet, with a variety of clothes and jewlerly all displaced any and every where.

"This is going to be bummer to clean, Elise." Steph closed her droopy eyes, crossed her legs and leaned backward. "Its already midnight and we aren't even dressed yet. I told you anything would do—"

"Nope, just anything would not suffice, Steph. What kind of friend would I be to allow you to attend a club with perfectly dressed rich people. Tonight is your night and I want you to stand out. I already know what I'm wearing but only if I can remember  where I placed the stupid dress."

"And how about this one? This one looks alright." The frustrated girl lifted the first dress she saw on the chair next to her and shrugged at her friend. The dress seemed to be okay in likes of her—beige in color with spattegi straps and an opening at the back area. "Is it?"

"If you're impressed by that one then you'll surely be surprised when I show you the one I'm looking for." She left toward her bedroom and Steph switched on her phone, opening the Instagram app only to see an advertisement on Oliver Black.  It was a video of him in a meeting, smirking and boasting about his accomplishments.

Stephanie rolled her eyes and switched off her phone again just in time when Elise came back out, waving a designer box around excitedly.

"I remembered saving all the change I got for this like everyday once I got paid. I had even begged John to help me buy it. I never got to wear it because with the places I was going to I didn't find it suitable since the situation John and I were in at the time didn't exactly left us with anywhere proper—"

Before Elise could finish, Stephanie shook her head, gently pushing the box back toward her, "Then I cannot take this from you. You should be the one wearing this tonight, you said it yourself you saved everything you got for it so you should be the one to wear it."

"Oh stop whining, you're my best friend so stop making it sound as though I don't have a reason to give this to you, either way you know that there will be more." She smirked, "I'm going to continue to work hard until eventually I'll be able to but myself a house full of dresses and clothes."

"Sometimes I question how we get along so well though we have nothing in common. I mean, you're crazy."

"Both us are. That's probably why we get along so well despite."

"Guess so." Stephanie accepted the box, tied with a purple ribbon. She untied the bow and opened it, a smile edging on her face. "Woah."

"Georgous, right?" Elise asked elbowing her, "I just know it's going to suit you perfectly."

"Its georgous, sure, I can see why you wanted it so badly but I've never worn anything like it before."

"Its because you never got a chance to. This is your first step toward enjoying your life, Steph."

Stephanie looked down at the outfit, unable to picture herself in such. The rhinestones sparkled under the light and so did the silver material.

"Get up, Steph we have to get dressed sometime today." Elise picked up the dress she had chosen and placed it aside from the others and stripped down into the black matching bikini set she had chosen specifically for the dress. Stephanie helped her fit into the mesh material and Elise helped once it was her turn.

"You have to see yourself right now." Elise pushed her by her shoulders to the standing mirror inside her bedroom, "Who are you and what have you done to Stephanie Anderson?" She joked, admiring the dress on Stephanie's body.

"I have no idea." She passed her hand down the rhinestones on her hips. She had not expected such a change to her overall appearance. For once she could agree that she looked…nice.

The dress was a v neck, fitted loosely around her waist and lower down her stomach left uncovered. On her hips, the material hugged her  reaching the middle of her thighs with a cut that left the other revealed, two silver chains hanging.

"I told you it would look perfect on you." Elise tapped her shoulders twice before walking over to her desk and switched on the lights on her vanity mirror.

Elise wore a black see through mesh dress with three cutouts at her waist reaching her stomach.

She gestured to all of the makeup she collected on the desk, "Ready for your transformation?"

"This doesn't even look like me, Elise." Steph said while staring at her reflection in her pocket mirror. Over her eyelids was a smoky fox eyes with rhinestones on at the lines and a flamethrower red lipstick over her lips.

"That's because you don't take care of yourself. You looking like a walking dead half of the times. I simply brought out the living part in you." She puckered her lips when she finished lining, "Don't we look hot?" She leaned back in the front seat and raised her phone over her head to take of her Stephanie.

John who had his hands locked around the wheel glanced at her, "Pfft, just wished you had dressed up for me like this." He sighed as though he was deep inside his thoughts, "You know you can think about this. You can just forget about this and stay at home with me, babe."

"Aw, you're sad I'm taking her away from you?" Stephanie teased and John glared at her through the rearview mirror, going silent immediately.

"Whatever, we're here." He said and slowly brought the car to a stop.

Stephanie looked out the mirror, staring at the colorful flashing lights. The club was huge and crowded, the loud music already being heard from the outside. A ball formed in her throat and she looked to Elise who was busy flirting with John.

"You'll see me later, baby. Kisses." She puckered her lips and John formed the connection, pulling away and connecting a few times more.

"Way to make me more sick than I already am." She unlocked the door and pushed it open after Elise did, "Goodbye John."

"Yeah whatever Stephanie, break a leg…" He looked around first and lowered his voice, "please."

"How sweet of you to say." She raised her middle finger and smiled as though she had good intentions. She then exitted and patted his door when she closed it. Stephanie was about to walk toward Elise but shortly lost balance, almost twisting her ankles.

'Great…' She screamed internally from the pain, chewing on her lip, "I seriously can not walk in these Elise I'm going to fall on ass and be a real laugh to all the rich bastards inside that club." She held her knees and Elise rushed to her, walking effortlessly in the heels she had on, a normal occurrence to her while Stephanie remained with aching ankles.

"Maybe I should've given you flats."

"You think?!"

"Buy you'll get accustomed to it soon." She linked their arms, forcing her to stand straight, "Just hold on to me, lift your head straight and act like your walking on…I don't know…rainbows or whatever the hell it is they say."

"Its sunshine."

"Sunshine. Yes. You knew what I meant."

As they crossed the road and became closer and closer to the club, it was the more nervous she turned out to be, gripping Elise's arm tighter.

"They're staring at us, why?" Some of the persons lined up into two lines at the entrance at the club looked over their shoulders, staring intently without any form of guilt.

"Because you look beautiful, Steph, and well I'm taken so I will be avoiding all further eye contact." She removed the shades from her purse and placed it over her face, "This is your night and we're gonna make the most out of it."

Stephanie looked at Elise and then to the club in front of her with knitted brows, 'I have a feeling this is going to be a long night…'
