Chapter 9 - His true intentions? [Part 1]

STEPHANIE AND ELISE HAD TO WAIT about twenty minutes before they were in front of the line.  A buff man, bearded with long curly hair and shades stood tall in front of them. He lowered the blacked shades right down to the tip of his nose and asked with gruff in his raspy voice, "Identifications?"

They both searched through their purses at the same time, showing him their IDs with a smile.

"Invitation cards?" He asked his second question, his voice slow and uninterested as though just speaking was too much of a strain to him.

Elise found hers first but Stephanie continued to search longer. She showed him a tight lip smile at him, "I'm sorry, its inside here somewhere."  She said, "A lot of pockets, you know?"

"No I don't know." He flashed her the same smile expect it was edged with irony and mockery, "Hurry up sweet pea I don't have all night, there's a lot of important people waiting behind you and they don't like to wait."

From the way he said 'important' was reminder to Stephanie that she was mere mundane individual who had to work her self out to  receive mere dollars.  Truly unimportant she was compared to the persons at the club.

Suddenly she felt strange, it seemed too professional to her, too large and crowded and wondered if she made the right choice to attend. It doesn't end well for persons who simply tries to fit in to someplace they did not have business being—Like a small palm trying to hold more than its capacity.

She unzipped a pocket and exhaled when she found the card. "I got it." She turned to the irritated people behind her, "I got it." And then handed to the scary security guard who made her feel like a small tin of beans. She slipped past him behind Elise and exhaled once again.

"That's kind of over the top don't you think?"

Elise rolled her eyes, walking toward yet another door with guards on each side, "Right."

Once they were at the doors the men gave curt nods and both pulled open a door. The doors were opened and they were greeted by loud base of music.

They could hear the loud music and Steph turned to Elise shocked and freaking out. Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana and dancing rich people of all sorts. Looking at their attire's, the men in fancy suits and the ladies in designer dresses that looked to made just for them ruined Stephanie's confidence.

"You're freaking out." Elise said to her, her eyes narrowed knowingly.

"No I am not." She told a white lie that was barely able to be concealed.

"You're definitely freaking out. Your brows are creasing." She said as matter-of-factly, "Don't spoil your makeup and relax this is going to be good remember  this is a fun night. Put scary Stephanie on the loose and be anyone you want. Be Steph today, alright." A smile then formed slowly on her face lighting up to her eyes, "There's food, Steph. A lot of it. Lets go eat." She grabbed her wrists, pulling her along through the large crowd.

People passed with filled glasses of alcohols and the tiniest treats. Elise took from each tray she came across and yet still all the way to table with more food.

She stuffed her face with a stick of kebab, shedding a light tear to express her admiration for the taste, "You have to try this." She dropped the stick in the trash and picked up a toothpick holding a stuffed egg, moaning, "You're not eating?"

Steph hugged her arms to her chest, "I'm not hungry—"

"Y'know you can't keep up with that diet, Steph. You've gotten so slim, not that you don't look good but just not healthy you know. I want the cup C you again."

She shooked her head, exaggeratly, "Can we not discuss my boobs at a club party filled with people?"

"You're right, what we should be discussing is the fact that Lady Gaga is playing and we're not fucking dancing." She finished the last bite of egg and pulled at her wrist again, "You know I can't stand this one out."

"Sorry but you're gonna have to do on your own. I don't think I can stomach dancing right now. I know the whole reason of this was for me to forget about everything but somehow I think its worst, however that doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun." She sighed, "May Gaga forgive me."

"You sure you're okay with staying here by yourself?" She frowned, worriedly and Steph shrugged.

"I'll be with the beverages table over there." She smirked and shooed her friend to the dance floor. Lady Gaga's Poker face was already in play almost half the chorus and Elise nodded before she ran off.

The girl soothed her arms once her friend was gone, her face instantly falling. She knew Elise was only trying to see her happy but she felt exhausted and somehow guilty. She wanted to go home to her Granny, if it happened to be a last night to be together with her.

She wanted to find out a way, if there was anyway, to solve her problems.

Most of them being financial and including the mental and physical strain that it has on her.

She wandered to the liquor table groggily and as the thoughts stayed not leaving, she poured a glass of vodka (the strongest option she label) and drank it bitter without a second thought. She felt the sting against her tongue and in her throat but poured another, drinking it down as a shot until the one only she thought would have turned into two and eventually three until it was her forth and then out of her count.

"You've been at that for a while, careful sweetheart." A voice, dark and dangerous spoke from behind her. Close. "Someone might want to take advantage of ya."

Stephanie froze in position and lowered the glass to the table when his hand was placed roughly on her shoulder. She turned around slowly, looking over her shoulder first but not completely frightened—the Vodka played the villain's role in that.

"Fuck you're wasted." He raised a brow but when she turned to him he still a smirk edged at the corner of his lip and he placed his mouth around to her ear, "Can I tell you a secret?"
