There was more work to be done at the Wards' household now that Elise and Jacob Ward were here.
That couple were probably Lisa's model couple or as they say "one true pairing". They were so in love with each other. The looks they exchanged when they thought no one was looking, the way he held her hand sometimes at the the dinner table, as though he couldn't bear the thought of being away from her, and the time they spent in the garden together.
Lisa was well and truly embarrassed to have walked in on them sharing a passionate kiss once, but unlike last time, she had been able to make a clean escape. If Lisa was five years old then, she would have been completely grossed out by the thought of two people exchanging saliva, but now, she found it cute and adorable.
Lisa had thought long and hard about how the amulet came to be found in her room. She wasn't one of the maids that may have mistakenly displaced the amulet when cleaning. Although she had helped them to clean up once or twice, not once had she cleaned the bosses' rooms.
That left her with two plausible reasons why the necklace was found in her room. The first and very highly improbable reason, the previous occupant of the room had kept it there. Second more plausible reason, yet something she didn't want to believe. She was being framed.
Lisa had learnt from experience that human beings could be very malicious, but this was taking malicious to a whole new level. She doesn't know how she could possibly have offended anyone in this household in such a short time. No matter how many times she wracked her brain, she came up completely empty. The only person whom she'd done something to was Lucas. And he could have had her fired if he'd wanted to. That left her with no logical suspect, and no evidence, except that nagging negative feeling she had about Amy. She just couldn't decide if that feeling was warning her against Amy or not.
Lisa was very confused and mentally preoccupied. She had no logical reason to link Amy to the theft case, so she decided to leave it at that for the time being. Lucky enough for her there was an atmosphere of preparation at the Wards'. They were going to have a party.
It was more like an excuse to have all business associates and acquaintances in one place, since that kind of thing was apparently good for business. So Elise and Jacob decided to throw a spring party which doubled as their "welcome back" celebration.
Lisa had her hands full with overseeing the major tasks like, the cooking, the cleaning, the decorations and the invitations to be sent out. She worked hand in hand with Elise to find the perfect invitation design, and to get the invitations made and sent out. She also worked closely with both Mrs Lee and Elise to come up with the menu and make sure everything is prepared. Mrs. Lee didn't need her unskilled hands, but she acted as food taster, and she made sure the food was prepared in the right quantities required.
She helped the maids clean up and decorate the house.
Lisa essentially threw herself so deeply into the work that she didn't have time to contemplate who could have been behind the amulet incident, or what next that person was planning.
That she didn't have time to think about it didn't mean she didn't feel like there was a noose tightening ever so slowly around her neck. She just tried to ignore it.
It was Monday and yet Lisa couldn't find it in her to be excited about receiving her second pay cheque. She had called Alicia and told her all that had happened. Alicia just told her that her job at the hotel would be waiting for her should anything happen, but that she shouldn't give up without a fight. Alicia promised to come up with some means of finding the culprit if Lisa didn't come up with something first.
"You should head on home now." Michael's doctor and long time friend said. "Runner's hematuria is not very serious, but it shouldn't be taken lightly either. You have to cut back on strenuous exercise most especially the running. I advice that you go home. And by home I mean your parents'."
Micheal laid on the gatch bed in his friend's privately owned hospital in Instanbul-Turkey. He had come to Turkey on a business trip, and since running was one of his passions, something he incorporated into his morning routine, he continued to do so here. He had taken the running beyond the limits of his physical endurance this time it would seem.
"Birijik, I've been wondering, have you been taking lessons from my mother?" He said, leaving just enough pause for effect. " Because if you have, I'm going to commend you on being an exceptional student. You surpassed your teacher. And i'm certain if I end up deciding to marry one day I'll be better able to handle my wife's nagging with all the practice I've got from you."
Birijik laughed. "You have to take my warnings seriously. As your doctor and your friend. Most especially as this is your second warning in just two weeks. Stop those morning runs, finalize your deal, and go home where you can get some much needed rest."
"Okay , okay" Micheal said. " I'll go home when I finalize the deal. And if I don't, you can call my Mom." Micheal said the latter with a shiver.
Birijik just laughed and walked Micheal out. She then closed the door with a secret smile. "I care about you enough to not leave your health in your own hands Micheal." She thought.
"The only thing that is keeping your Mom from calling you home now is the promise I made to look after you, and try once more to get you home on your own terms."
