Thursday was just around the corner. Lisa decided to use some of her money to make packed lunches for the people at the old people's home.
She requested Mrs. Lee's help in making the lunches. Mrs Lee said she'd be glad to help. Just as soon as she was done making lunch for Lucas on Thursday. Carrie and Amy said they'd help too.
Lisa was so excited. She went to seek Lucas' permission to go out and withdraw some cash.
"Sir", she said "may I step out for a few minutes?"
"Take all the time you need. Just make sure you don't neglect your duties Lisa.", Lucas said
Lisa was shocked into silence. She hadn't realized she and Lucas were on a first name basis.
She blushed so red. She was sure a candle could be melted on her cheeks just then.
Lucas noticed how red her cheeks were, and mistaking her blush for embarrassment said, "I'm not an uptight boss okay. Sorry for embarrassing you, but you can call me Lucas too if it makes you more comfortable."
That only worsened the redness of her cheeks. Lisa said," excuse me Sir, I think I may be coming down with something." She left Lucas' study as though the devil was at her heels.
She went into the closest bathroom to wash her face. She really needed to get a hold of herself, she thought.
Lisa then went to her room, took her purse, made her way to the gate, and out of the premises.
The watcher saw her leave, with a snide grim on her face. She went to where she'd hidden the item. It was so dull. She wondered why some people considered something so dull valuable. She stuffed it in her pocket and went down the corridor and into a set of rooms not unfamiliar to her. She put the item in a hidden spot, straightened out her outfit, smirked and left the room. All that was left was for the item tobe discovered missing and we'll be saying "bye bye miss Lisa."
Lisa withdrew the money, went to the nearest grocery store ,bought food supplies and healthy beverages. She headed to the mansion in high spirits.
As soon as she got home, she set the items in the fridge and went to the garden to water the plants. She was so engrossed in her task that she only noticed another presence in the garden when she heard a footstep. She turned around holding what the watering can up like a weapon.
Lucas stopped in his tracks looking at Lisa with a perculiar expression. He said," Why are you always jumpy and paranoid? I'd say you've had really traumatic childhood that caused this untrusting nature and paranoia.
Lisa dropped the can, looked at Lucas and said, "How may I be of assistance sir?"
Lucas looked at her for a moment and said, "Be my friend. That's how you can be of assistance. I love what you did with the garden. It's my Mom's favorite place on the premises."
Lisa was flustered. How did Lucas always get around to leaving her speechless? She thought.
"This place is so serene. It smells wonderful too. It's no wonder it's her favorite place."
"Hello, my name is Lucas. What is your name?" Lucas said smiling.
Lisa looked at him as though he'd developed a set of horns on his forehead. Lucas extended his hand for a handshake urging Lisa to play along. "My name is Lisa. Nice to meet you." Lisa said shaking Lucas' hand. Lucas showed her to the bench in the garden where they sat and began their very first conversation as friends.
"Lisa" Lucas said, "How old are you?"
Lisa just laughed. "Don't you know it's considered rude to ask a woman for her age?"
Lucas smiled and said," I didn't mean to be rude. I apologize."
Lisa said, "I'm 23 years old, I lived with my aunt and her sons before I moved here. I have been taking university courses online for a year now."
Lucas said, "I'm 29 years old, I live alone most of the time, but at other times like now, I stay here with my parents and my only brother. I am the head of the management department at Ward enterprises."
"Sounds sophisticated", Lisa said. Lucas laughed and said, "Not as sophisticated as my brother's Chief executive officer position. Truth is my brother is the one who takes all the risk, travels round the world , closes deals, and keeps us rich. I just manage our already available funds."
Lisa said, "Do you play any sports? No. Let me guess you played soccer in high school, you look like a jock. You had quite the number of female cheerleaders vying for your attention. Am i wrong?"
"You couldn't be more wrong. I was quite the late bloomer you see. While my mates were developing muscles, deep voices and strong chins I was dealing with pimples. You wouldn't believe how very embarrassed I was in high school. I actually got better looking only when I went to College."
"Wow". Lisa couldn't say much else. Looking at him you wouldn't know that he was ever anything other than extremely confident and handsome.
Lucas said, "How was your high school experience?"
Lisa said, "I have always kept away from crowds and kept my head down.It wasn't much different then. I was among the unpopular crowd, but I was a good student If I do say so myself. I got top scores." Lisa was very proud of her academic achievements if not of anything else. She was intelligent and loved it when others saw her brain not her figure. She dressed to avoid attention, but for someone as buxom as she was to achieve that effect meant baggy sweat shirts and hoodies. She had a voluptuous figure that could hardly go unnoticed.
Lisa then said "I have to go check on the Mrs Lee and supper." It was nice having this conversation with you. Until next time then."
Lucas said, "You can count on it". He smiled and let her take her leave.
Lisa felt strangely happy and light. Like she was walking on clouds. Cheesy but yeah. That's how she could best describe the feeling.
Mrs. Lee had prepared a sophisticated dinner she couldn't name. She said it was French quisine. Lisa couldn't wait to taste it, but first she had to make sure Lucas had his share. Amy offered to take Lucas' supper to him, took the tray and headed to the dining room.
Lisa, Carie and Mrs. Lee sat down to enjoy the delicious delicacies. "I could die a most content death now. My God! Mrs. Lee. Your hands are blessed.Don't forget your promise. I'll make it through atleast six months here. If not for anything, then to learn your recipes." Amy joined them just in time to laugh at what Lisa said.
