Chapter 3 - Rules of Friendship

Not only do schools or government agencies have regulations, but Kai and Diga's friendship also has several rules that neither should break.

This rule was made when they were in 6th grade; it was Diga who was going to Bali week.

"When you go to Bali, who will I play with?" Kai innocently asked at that time because there were no children as fun as Diga.

As usual, Diga, without answering Kai's question, could only take him to the tree house and talk seriously there.

Diga took a painting tool in the tree house, complete with brushes and color paints.

"You write what you want," Diga ordered Kai.

Kai, without asking much, immediately took a brush and wrote '13 rules in friendship, making Diga surprised because a child seemed to be able to write like that.

"What do you mean?" asked Diga.

"Because you want to go to Bali and it's a long time. You have to write down what rules we can't break."

After much negotiation, they finally formed their style's '13 rules in friendship' their kind.

The first thing Diga wrote was 'no lies' I don't know what he meant, but both parties agreed on the regulation. Kai continued he wrote number two, which is 'you can't like each other; reading the rules made Diga immediately frown in surprise.

"So what?"

"You just can't like me!" Kai said firmly.

Finally, they wrote on the last number 13 that all the rules were painted on the canvas and should not has broken; if anyone violated, this friendship would have dissolved.

Time is running so fast; it can be seen from these two small children that they have grown into teenagers and are in high school. They can't wait to welcome the excitement of the race because they always hear their parents or other adults who are very excited when they talk about their high school days.

They went to SMA Negeri 70 Jakarta even though from kindergarten they had been in the same school, but when they entered high school, there was an incident that almost made Kai unable to enter it.

Registration through the grade line has carried out on Monday with a small quota; Kai, who at that time was running away from his house because there was a problem with his parents, just left without any news, which made Diga confused.

Almost one day, Kai just left without any information; Diga, who knows Kai's character very well, understands that he went to calm his mind, but this time Diga was not forgiven.

Diga continues to look for Kai in the places he often visits when many problems come into his life, from the park, the tree house, and Pak 'De's chicken noodles to the library, which is at the end of the complex but there is no sign of Kai's whereabouts.

Kaki kept walking to look for her friend who had run away, and her eyes were not careless everywhere until finally, the footsteps stopped when they saw Kai's blue sandals that he always wore in front of the internet cafe.

With emotions running high, Diga entered the internet cafe and found Kai, who was playing online games there.

"What are you doing? What are you doing here so late at night?" said Diga; his voice was trying to slow it down so there wouldn't be a commotion.

Surprised to see Diga, I immediately pulled him out of the room.

"What is it? You don't have to be loud!" Kai said, annoyed.

"You're crazy! Today's registration for high school, and you even run away without news like this," said Diga, getting more emotional seeing his friend's behavior.

After hearing Diga's word, Kai's eyes widened; he forgot that today was high school registration. Kai immediately pulled Diga into the room again to ensure that there was still a quota left for him, but all of that was zero high school entrance quota. The value path has been exhausted.

"GA! HOW DO I DO?! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!" Kai said, half shouting, Diga, who was still annoyed, tried to ignore his friend.

Diga was silent while thinking about how to get Kai to enter SMA 70 as well; he reached into his trouser pocket to take out his cellphone and then looked at the info on the WhatsApp group 'enter SMA 70'.

"Here, there is entry through the achievement path!" exclaimed Diga excitedly.

Kai immediately grabbed Diga's cell phone roughly out of curiosity.

"You can enter through here," said Diga.

Kai does have achievements in the field of sports, namely fencing; he has brought the name of elementary school and junior high school to the inter-city stage and won silver.

"YES, WE Escaped!" Kai said while hugging Diga in front of his computer. He did not expect the two of them to pass to enter SMA 70, which was famous in the area. They are indeed very good at doing rule number 8 in their friendship, namely 'supporting each other.

"Alhamdulillah," said Maryam from behind their backs.

After hugging Diga, Kai immediately moved his hug to Maryam as a form of pleasure that he couldn't contain himself.

"What do you want for dinner today?" asked Maryam, with a beautiful smile.

"Eat mom's tek-tek noodles!" Kai exclaimed.

Diga could only shake his head and then went to the TV room to play the station while waiting for his mother to make their two favorite tek-tek noodles.

While sipping noodles, Diga tried to ask why Kai had run away to the internet cafe two weeks ago because he thought this was the right time.

"Why did you run away yesterday?" asked Diga seriously.

Kai didn't answer Diga's words; he continued to sip the noodles in front of him and added all the chili sauce that Maryam had prepared.

"Kai!" snapped Diga, annoyed to see his friend's behavior.

"It's nothing, Ga," he said casually.

"Remember rule number 1? I can't lie! If you don't want to talk, I'll keep my mouth shut for two days," Diga threatened Kai.

Kai immediately took a deep breath because actually, he was also lazy to tell the problems that were at his house.

"Yes, it's normal, Ga. My father was angry again, asking for money to gamble. You know what kind of fight the two of them were fighting," Kai explained, then took another sip of his noodles.

Even though Diga has known about the problem for a long time, every time he hears Kai talk about it, his heart feels like it has broken and torn apart because he understands his position as a child; he must be very disappointed to see his parents like that.

Silence ensued after Kai explained the problem; Diga's mind tried to explore the burden Kai had just talked about, wanting peace.
