Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Rough Day

As Mom and Dad made their way back I placed my empty mug on the table and grabbed Mom's robe. She changed and slipped it on. I did the same for Dad and he turned. "Did she come back?" I shook my head and he furrowed his brows. "She's at either Selma's or Liams?" My Mom spun and her eyes bulged. "Did you use your hearing?" I shook my head no, and grabbed my empty cup as we walked inside. I slid Faye's computer over and showed her the messaged that Faye had left up on her computer. "Okay little spy." My Dad said before he rubbed my hair.

"Well why you two chase or wait for her, I'm going to go to sleep. I have school in the morning. Oh, and there's two hot chocolates on the counter; one with cinnamon and one without." I winked at them knowing my Dad didn't care for the cinnamon. "Thank you Paisley." They said as I climbed the stairs. "At least there is one daughter we don't have to worry about Oliver grumbled as typed on the computer. I ran to the shower and washed the sand and dirt from my skin and hair.

Then I marched into my room and tossed myself onto the bed. It was going to be a long night I thought as I laid there. Faye's music turned off and two voices whispered low. "Babe your Dad is gonna catch me again, and what happened to your door?" She shhed him and I heard clothes land on the floor. "Come on Liam, show me a good time." Ewww I thought as I turned off the wold hearing and placed a pillow over my head.

The next morning I drug myself out of bed. Those two where at it in a hot minute before Dad realized she was back and doing things.

I heard Dad walk up the stairs and enter Faye's room. He threw Liam from the house skinning his elbow on the stone drive way. While Faye cried Daddy all night long. She was driving us all crazy and even the far bedroom wasn't far enough. I had climbed the stairs and entered the guest bedroom hoping to get some relief.

The next moring I dressed and grabbed my book bag and stood at the bus stop with Faye. "You are such a tattle tale." I rolled my eyes and she pushed me. Usually I'd be tripping to stop myself, but this time I stayed put. "I didn't say a word." She huffed and said yeah right before getting on the bus.

She sat in the back making two boys move their seats. I sat in the front to avoid her and get off first. I knew no matter what I said she wouldn't believe me so I'd just stay away from her. At least that was my plan. First through fourth went amazing and by lunch my mood had shifted to happy until Liam dumped his lunch on me. My sister followed suit and I had to go to the lost and found to find clothes. I found some that would fit including a striped long sleeve shirt and a pair of army green pants.

The principal saw me and shook her head already knowing I'd say no to her calling my parents. I went and rinsed my hair in the bathroom trying to get the baked beans and it's sauce from my hair. I and stripped off the milk and ketchup stained shirt I wiped my skin with paper towels and dressed. The beans where the worst leaving me still feeling a slight sticky. My hair soaking wet I tossed it into a bun. I opened my locker and stood to the side as shaving cream busted out onto the floor. I took my books out of the ziplock bags I had placed them in and slipped them into my bag. Secretly thanking Paco for the tip.

After school three guys and Liam stood blocking my way to the bus. "So you tattled on us and your Dad gave me a scratch, I think it's only fair of I give you one. Liam shoved me, but I didn't move. He tried again and this time I wobbled. "Can I get on the bus now?" His friend tried to push me and he was stronger then Liam almost causing me to drop the books I held. "Hey boys! Leave her alone." Yelled a teacher and the bus driver came off the bus. "Come on sweety" said Mr. Call. He was an elderly man with white hair and value eyes. He lead me to the bus and closed the doors behind me.

"Do they give you a hard time a lot?" I shrugged and looked in the bus mirror catching his eye. "Just slug them one, or two times." I smiled at the older man and even let out a small laugh. "Well my sister is dating the big meat head, so I can't really do anything about it." He nodded as he drove around letting kids off the bus. "So your sister is a mean girl?" I thought about it and scrunched my eyebrows together. "Yeah, I guess she is." He stopped and as the kids got off he looked up into his mirror. "Maybe you ought to slug her too."

He pulled up to my stop and opened the door. "Thank you for helping me today Mr. Call." He smiled as my sister tried to push past me and I leaned back making her almost fall. "I think I might be taking your advice soon." I ran down the steps and watched my sister recover her purse and get off the bus. "I hate you!" She yelled as she pulled down her skirt to show more of her stomach. "You never stop talking." I shot back and she punched me. "Ow! You broke my hand!" She yelled ad she ran inside and started yelling at our Dad.

He opened the door and I walked up the steps. "Before I deal with the hand, mind telling me a few things." He looked mad, but it wasn't my fault so I nodded. "One how in the world did she break her hand? And two why did your principal call me today asking to bring you clothes. Whose clothes are those?" I looked down and furrowed my brows. "They look that bad huh?" He nodded and sniffed me. "She punched me and her hand broke. My principal called cause she has a need to stick her nose in my business, which is unnecessary. Today was a rough day and yes those are beans, soured milk, and maybe ketchup you smell thanks to my sister and her boyfriend dumping their lunch on me." He grimaced and held his nose. "Why didn't you call? Or tell us. Has this been going on a while?"

I laughed and closed my eyes. "Yeah Dad for like seven years. I never call, I just deal with it." He groweled and went inside leaving the door open for me. I heard my sister scream and I went to my room to drop my stuff before heading right to my drawer to change to a suit. Right now I needed the ocean, and then a shower.

I ran outside and mind linked Dad. "Going surfing. That okay?" A quickness broke through and it sounded aggravated, but I ignored it as I took out my dark green board. It sat between Dad's electric green one, and Mom's white one. I slid it out and checked the wax before heading into the salty cold water.
