Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Wait.. Sugar Bear?

The school was over and she left the staff room about to go home when she saw Ace standing by his car.

She lowered her gaze immediately and left to the road waiting for a cab.

"Jenna!" He called walking to her, but she didn't stop she kept walking. He caught up with her and held her hand.

"I'm so sorry for what I said, please let me take you home." He begged.

"Let go off me Ace!" She yelled.

"Why are you being this way?." He asked.

"Why I'm I being this way?? Really?." She glared angrily at him.

"I'm sorry I reminded you of your condition."

"Just..just stay away from me." She quickly got into a cab and left.

After hours of boring long drive she got to The Mansion. She slowly walked into the house to see Arnold seated on the couch looking down to the floor.

She didn't know how to talk to him about what happened earlier, she knew he was really mad but she needed to apologize.

"I..I'm sorry Arnold." Her voice quavered. Arnold didn't even look at her, his eyes were fixed at something she didn't know.

"I..I didn't know he'll be here. He didn't tell me anything." She explained.

"And the best thing you could do was to enter into his car?." He said with his eyes not leaving the floor.

"A..Arnold i.."

He cut her off " Go to your room." He said with a stern voice.

"I didn't mean t...-"

"Go to your room Jenna!" He yelled and she hurriedly ran up to her room.

For a second he felt bad for raising his voice to her. He closed his eyes tightly and cursed inwardly.

She sat on the bed sobbing, first it was the Rembrandt of her condition and now Arnold was mad at her. Things weren't going the way she wanted it to.

Ace sounded like he was doing her a Favour by loving or caring for her. This made her think that the reason he stood up for her in school was because he felt pity for her, it was all not true, he did that cause of her ill condition.

She dozed off sooner. Arnold slowly peeked to see if she was sleeping then he came inside with a tray of food in his hand, He knew she hadn't had anything for dinner because of what happened so he brought food to her.

He walked slowly to her so he wouldn't madly any noise that would wake her up, then he carefully kept the tray of food on the table and went to sit close to her.

He looked down at her and stared at her face as she slept then he patted her head gently.

She took his hand and placed her face on it, holding it tight.

"Jenna?." He called softly taking out his hand but she wasn't letting it go.

"Jenna." He tapped her face gently and she slowly opened her eyes to see him.

"Arnold." She sat up and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Hey.." he didn't expect that.

"I brought you food, are you hungry?." He asked and kept the tray on his lap.

She didn't responded she just looked down to her finger. "I didn't mean to raise my voice."

"It was my fault, I shouldn't have got into Ace's car, I only wanted to ask him why he came here without telling me, but you left and I had to go with him cause I was running late."

"I didn't know." He lifted her chin with his forefinger making her look into his eyes.

"We're you crying?." He asked and she shook her head but he knew she was lying cos her eyes said it all.

"You don't know how to tell a lie Jenna." He said looking into her eyes.

"I told you how much I dislike seeing you cry." He wiped something off her face.

"You must be hungry, open your mouth I'll feed you." He took up a spoon full of food to her mouth.

She had the food and chewed slowly.. then she noticed the grin on his face. "I know you like it when I feed you."

She fell silent, Arnold noticed and his smile on his face slowly disappeared .

"Are you still sad?." He asked.

"No, I'm just wondering why I haven't seen any of your sibling or parent."

His face suddenly changed. "Let them be, don't talk about them." He looked away from her.

"I didn't mean to make you sad, i only asked.."

"Just don't talk about them Jenna."

"I'm sure you've got your reasons, I'm sorry for reminding you of what might had happened in the past." She lowered her gaze.

"Jenna." He called and she slowly looked up at him.

"I don't want you to ever see me as a bad man, even if I'm bad, I would never be bad to you cause I wouldn't dream of hurting you." He placed his hand on her face and she could see pain in his eyes.

"You're not a bad man Arnold please stop saying that." Her eyes were teary

"Everything I'm doing is for your safety. I want to protect you, I want you to be safe just trust me." He said softly.

She nodded "I trust you Arnold."

"You should finish up with this it's late. You've got work tomorrow, don't you?"

"Yes,I'll go to bed now, I'm full." She gave a warm smile as he tucked her into the bed.

He held the tray carrying it to the door..

"Would you be back?." She asked and he sensed fear in her voice.

"No." He smirked.

"What?." She sat up looking at him with his back facing her.

"I'll be back Sugar Bear." He smirked and walked out of the room.

"Sugar bear?." She smiled at herself knowing how sweet the name sound, she didn't believe he gave her such a cute name.

"Wait..Sugar Bear?." She felt she heard that name somewhere.
