Cain Abdul-Jabbar was his name. He had no familial relation to a god or anything of the sort, but he was pretty special. His already genius-level intellect had given him an edge over almost every single competitor he had met, including cultivators.

The inheritance was made years before the current era, just before the gods entered their slumber. Ares prepared a lot of extra measures just in case the divinity had somehow weakened and he died after the slumber.
However, the god didn't need to worry because as long as humanity existed, there would be wars.
