Chapter 4 - World of Avallus

Hajin slowly opened his eyes and looked at the world around him.

'What the hell? It looks like I'm in some Roman ruins.'

The sky was a normal blue color, but the ground was barren and light brown like a desert. He was surrounded by the deformed remains of what seemed to be a temple.

'So she was serious about dropping me in some ruins, huh?' Hajin thought.

After taking some time to inspect his environment, he got up and dusted his behind.

'Well, there's no point in lazing around,' Hajin thought as he began to walk forward.

As Hajin walked, he noticed that storm clouds constantly floated in the sky, but there was no rain.

Hajin continued walking for a while before an idea appeared in his head.

"Status," Hajin said aloud.

Immediately after Hajin said that, a translucent screen like a video game interface appeared in front of him.

Hajin stared at the translucent screen with a frown on his face.

'Why did that useless goddess not even explain to me how my stats work? I have a good idea what most of these are, but I have no clue about my ranks or levels or how to change them.' Hajin sighed in his mind. The system only showed him his stats and nothing about them, and this left Hajin disappointed, knowing that he would not have all the same hax that most people in all the OP system novels he had read. He also deduced that he was extremely weak considering his stats were mostly F rank, and he had enough common sense to know that F was the lowest rank. He also noticed that his mana stat and magic stat were both higher than his other stats.

"At least I have something going for me," Hajin muttered after reviewing his mana and magic stats.

Despite saying this, Hajin was unsure of what was considered "normal" in this world. For all he knew, having C-ranked mana and D-ranked magic could be completely normal or below average. But, having no way of knowing this, Hajin decided not to linger on the topic and shut the system off. He continued to walk forward and inspect his surroundings more until he eventually reached what seemed to be a crumbled wall. Rocks and debris spread around the entire ground, giving the appearance of a true fallen city. Past all the rocks and debris, a large dark green forest spread out.

"I guess this is how my journey officially begins," Hajin sighed before climbing over the debris.

Hajin eventually got to the other side of the debris and quickly entered the forest. The leaves on the large trees blocked most of the light from the sky, causing Hajin to have trouble making out a lot of minor details. In certain areas of the forest, he saw pieces of rubble and debris scattered in random parts of the forest. The size of the debris ranged from pebbles and dust to boulders and chunks the size of Hajin. Crunching noises resounded throughout the mostly quiet forest after each step that Hajin took. The smell of wood and leaves assaulted his nose as he crossed the seemingly endless forest.

'Most things here are the same as they are on Earth. I wanna see the technology here and how advanced they are,' Hajin thought as he walked through the forest. Hajin had many thoughts like this as he trudged through the forest. Eventually, after 30 minutes of continuous walking, the random chunks of debris started gradually appearing less and less, and after an hour, it was nothing but grass and no more chunks were appearing. After another hour of walking, Hajin sat down near a tree and leaned on the trunk to rest.

"I've been walking for hours now and still no people or civilization. How big is this forest, anyway?" Hajin said aloud.

Despite being sent to another world, Hajin was still human. He knew he could not get some random boost in power just because he was transferred to another world. As of right now, he was still a normal human. Walking for extended periods of time was still extremely difficult for him. Hajin leaned his head back on the tree trunk and closed his eyes.

"Nothing wrong with a little rest, right?" Hajin said before closing his eyes.
