Chereads / UNKNOWN DESTINY (VOLUME I) / Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

The day went on like it always did, Evelyn had gifted the rose to the main-office secretary, and she had gladly accepted it. The only difference today was during lunch… Matthew and Alexander sat with Evelyn and the twins instead of on their usual table. Seeing how the gods and the goddess were eating together no one dared to go near them and for once lunch was ate in peace, which the guys actually enjoyed.

"Evelyn, have you received any more love notes?" Matthew questioned realizing it wasn't the best subject to bring up when Ale gave him a death glare.

"Nope… none anymore, he probably saw you two reading the note and was too scared afterwards to keep on sending more." Evelyn swirled her plastic fork in her pasta and took a bite of it and just when she was going in for another swirl a pink rose with another note attached to it landed on their table. The young girl who had thrown it there ran before any questions could be asked. Alexander was the first to grab the note as he tossed the rose to the far end of the rectangular cafeteria table. He mentally read it and then handed it to Matt with a snort. 'I will not give up on you when I haven't even started to fight. I am determined to win your heart. Sincerely, Your Secret Admirer.' "It seems I spoke too soon." Evelyn commented as she read the note after Matt.

"He's got guts, I'll give him credit for that…" Everyone turned to look at Kristine. Alex and Matt dislike her comment. "But…" she continued. "But he's being extremely stupid. He knows that both Matt and Alex know about him and if he were to be found out before they graduate, he would be a dead man. So… if by any chance he is close enough to hear what I'm saying, I suggest him to start writing his death will and give up on our little Evee, right now." The continuation of her comment sounded better for the guys.

Once lunch ended, Alexander pulled Evelyn to the side to talk to her in private. He was enjoying the fact that they were spending more time together. At school they would always be apart. He didn't like the reason he had to be by her side but he waws still happy to spend time with her. "Ev that guy has to know something about us and that's why he's waiting for Matt and me to be out of the picture to steal you away. I know we haven't talked much about how we're going to stay together after I graduate, but I'm worried. You know that I would travel all across the world just to be by your side but with another guy to support you, I wonder if you'll still need me…"

"Alexander you better not be thinking about breaking up with me because if you are I'll start crying my eyes out and I wouldn't care who sees." Evelyn took a step closer to him and grabbed him by the collar.

"You have got to be kidding me Ev… breaking up with you would mean the end of my life. Besides if I were to dump you, I would be leaving an easy catch for that secret admirer, and we both know that I don't like to give anything away, especially my one and only special girl." Alexander wrapped his arms around Evelyn's small body and leaned in to kiss her glossy vanilla flavored lips. Just when the kiss was beginning to heat up, Matthew had to interrupt them, again.

"Get your asses to class, or I'll kick them to it." Evelyn gave her brother an irritated and annoyed stare before giving Alexander one last peck on the lip and walking to her next class. "You guys are making out here and she doesn't want for people to know about your relationship?" Matthew questioned but it was mostly to himself while shaking his head.

"Are you for reals man?" Ale questioned as he saw his girlfriend walking her own way.

"What?" Matthew asked with confusion.

"Again…"

"What Ale?" Matt asked once more, not knowing what he had done so wrong.

"Did you by any chance implant a mini-micro or a mini-cam on either Ev or me so that whenever you saw that our kissing began to heat up you could just appear out of nowhere and ruin the moment?" Ale questioned as he searched his jean pockets and jacket, even his backpack.

"Uhm no… nope I don't recall doing anything like that, but hey that wouldn't be such a bad idea. Oh well I guess it's just an older brother's intuition." Matt laughed yet Ale only rolled his eyes. "Right… so, what were you two talking about before the saliva transferring." Matt asked his best friend as they walked to class. Ale turned to look at his friend with narrowed eyes and stern expression on his face at the way Matt had worded the action he and his sister were in but shook it aside and looked down at his shoes.

"I find it weird telling you about this man…" Alex scratched the back of his head. They went into the classroom and sat in their usual seats at the far back corner.

"Oh, come on Ale, it's my sister and you we're talking about. I know practically everything about your relationship." Matt whispered to his friend, now that they were inside the classroom, they had to keep their voices down because of the subject, in the end they didn't want anyone to find out that Ale and Evee were secretly dating and get Evee all pissed off. Meanwhile the teacher was talking to her seniors about how graduation was just a few months away and how they needed to be thinking about their future and what path was best for them.

'This is great, more talks about the future. Sometimes I wish time could stop whenever Ev and I are together, those are actually the only times I look forward to.' Alex thought, losing himself in all the memories he and Ev had made, unfortunately for him Matt brought him back to reality as he elbowed him. "What?" Ale whispered with annoyance; he was enjoying his dream world.

"Come on man; tell me what you and my sis were talking about. I really want to know." Matt whispered almost begging like a lost puppy, whenever the subject had anything to do with his little sister; he just had to know everything. Matt was not only the lovey-dovey older brother, but he was also the protective-jealous father- since their father was away, they barely saw him, so Matt had to take the role of the older brother and the father.

"We… we were talking about our future together. Wondering how we were going to stay a couple after I graduate and go off to college. She'll be staying here for one more year; we won't get to see each other every day like we have been doing for all these years and with that asshole going after my girl… let's just say I'm afraid I'll lose your sister to another guy." Alex rested his forehead on his hand, while massaging the back of his neck with his free hand, he felt tense.

"What a conflict your mind's in." He placed his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Hey, stop worrying so much about it; you're making a big deal of something so simple. I know my sister and she loves you deeply, you two will end up getting married. Have you seen each other at home, the way you act? You two already look like a married couple, a pair of newlyweds. Stop thinking so much about the future, keep your mind on the present and just enjoy every second of it with my sister. Damn I'm starting to sound like mother." He shook that last sentence aside and so did Ale. "Anyways- right now what we should be thinking about is how you and I are going to find out who this 'secret admirer' guy is and kick his sorry ass. Evelyn is my sister and your girlfriend; we'll show him that he can't mess with what is ours." Matt was getting pissed by thinking just who the guy could be… the guy was being a complete coward by staying in the shadows.

"We'll definitely get that son-of-a-bitch and show him who we are." Alex said now, feeling more confident about himself. The guys high five in the air… causing everyone in the classroom to look back at them.

"Mr. McNealy, Mr. Khinbert have the two of you been paying attention to a single word I've said?" The guys only smiled in response and the teacher shook her head.

"Hey Evee, what did Alex want to talk to you about?" Nat questioned as soon as Evelyn took her seat behind her.

"Nothing important…" Evelyn replied while taking out her literature book and notebook.

"Come on Evee, don't be mean and just tell us." Kristine joined in on the conversation as she sat beside Evelyn. Class hadn't started yet seeing how Mr. Johnson was running late.

"Uhm, how about if I tell you girls something much better and not to mention freaky?" Evelyn questioned with a raised eyebrow and a half smile. The twins turned their sights to each other and then back to their friend.

"Tell us!" The twins yelled out in synchronized unison. A few of the students sitting close to them turned their sights their way. The three girls didn't care; they were practically used to it.

"It's about the dream I had last night…" She was interrupted by a young boy, a freshman calling her name from the door. Evelyn stood from her seat and walked to the boy, he handed her another pink rose and note and just like the girl from lunch he ran off before questions could be asked. "And this verifies that I'm going crazy." Evelyn commented as she re-took her seat and placed the rose on her desk.

"What does the note say?" Kristine asked with full curiosity.

"For some weird reason I don't want to even open the damn note…" Evelyn let out a small sigh while holding the piece of paper in her hands. "Oh well, here goes nothing…" She opened it and read it quietly to the twins. "For what love is to live and to hate is to die, I'll make you fall in love with me with a dozen roses tonight. Sincerely, Your Secret Admirer." The girls burst out into laughter at the cheesy poem.

"Oh my gosh, so now he writes poems. You've got to be joking." Kristine said in between laughter.

"Oh, girls stop with the laughter; it was sweet of him to send me a poem… even if it was so darn cheesy…" Evelyn said with laughter as well.

"We'll stop when you stop; you're laughing the hardest and loudest of the three." Nat said, almost unable to catch her breath. "God I can't stop that was too much."

"Can't… breathe…" Evelyn stopped laughing, trying her best to breathe again, inhaling and exhaling, slowly.

"Oh man, it had been a while since I last laughed my lungs out." Kristine too tried her best to start breathing once more.

"Okay, okay fun is over… Evee before that messenger boy interrupted, you were going to tell us something about your dream?"

"Oh yeah, I had forgotten Nat. It's weird but last night I dreamt about what's happening, I mean not literally, just about the pink roses." Evelyn stopped, staring at the rose still resting on her desk. "I was here at school, getting a few books from my locker… from behind me someone suddenly placed a pink rose in front of my face, when I turned around to see who it had been everything around me turned pitch black, I was only able to see his body and smile but not his face. I couldn't tell who the guy was and although I had a confused expression shown on my face, he had an ear-to-ear smile. He handed me the rose and I took it, when I did, he leaned over and whispered in my ear. 'And this is just the beginning.' After that I woke up. I didn't give it much thought, well not until this morning when I received the first rose." Evelyn stared at the twins who had their mouths open, they blinked a few times.

"Could your dream be a sign?" Nat questioned; her eyebrows furrowed. Evelyn shook her head in disagreement.

"I don't know what this guy is thinking, instead of making me fall-in-love with him…" Evelyn air quoted 'fall-in-love' with her fingers. "-he's definitely giving me the creeps." The twins shrugged their shoulders in a 'can't be helped' matter.

Mr. Johnson finally walked into the room ordering everyone to be quiet and apologizing for his tardiness. Evelyn paid no attention to Mr. Johnson's lecture which was weird, literature was her favorite subject. She was too busy rolling the rose on her desk with her index finger to notice a pair of icy blue eyes staring at her.

'You laugh at my notes now but soon you'll enjoy receiving them… that I can assure you.' The guy thought as he rested his chin on his palm, staring at the girl he was destined to have.
