Chereads / Beatrice and the Lord / Chapter 12 - Banquet 2

Chapter 12 - Banquet 2

Chapter 11

Beatrice stood by the stairs, her eyes boring down on the people that had women and men in their arms as they danced.

"Aren't you feeling dizzy Milady?" She heard a voice ask.

Turning behind her, she smiled at the man that had a huge smile on his face.

"Why is a beautiful lady, all alone?" The man asked.

"Ha, my sister has left me all alone to dance with the men," Beatrice said to have the man laugh.

"You don't expect your sister to dance with you, do you?"

"Ha, it would have been fun if she kept company," Beatrice said to have the man nod.

"Sisters tend to part ways when the time is right."

"Are you saying the time is now Milord?"

"How would I know Milady, is that your sister wearing the flowery dress at the east wing?" He asked to see Beatrice nod with a smile.

"She's indeed a beauty," Beatrice said.

"Not beautiful like you Milady."

"Ha, please don't flatter me, Milord, I am not one to compliment," Beatrice said and smiled at the man.

"I am no Lord, I am just one of the sentinels in the land," The man said.

"Ha, Milord," Themen exclaimed and Beatrice turned to see the person he was talking to.

It was the Lord.

"Lord Wolfarine." She mumbled and gave him a bow.

"Lady Beatrice, how are you finding the banquet?" The Lord asked.

"Hmm, it is quite good Milord." She answered to have him hum.

"Lady Beatrice, Lord Wolfarine excuse me." The other man gave a slight bow to the Lord.

"Excuse me...

"Come dance with me."

She tensed and turned around to meet his Amber-Golden eyes.

"Eh"

"Come dance with me Little Beatle." He said again and she frowned.

"I am no Beatle Milord and I am certainly not small, Beatrice said, her frown deepening as she watched the man.

The Lord was amazingly handsome and cute.

He was perfect with his chiseled jaw and firm body...

"Pardon me for calling a woman small, but there's no denying that you're a Beatle."

"Eh?"

Before Beatrice could even mutter up the words, the Lord took her hand and led her out slowly to the dance floor.

"Milord?"

"Take a deep breath and exhale Beatrice, I am not going to eat you, not yet." He said and smiled.

She frowned, confused by his use of words.

Firstly Beatrice didn't like the way, the Lord looked at her.

At first, it was strange but it kept being strange every time he watched her..as if searching for something and she hated it. Part of her though, there was always this excitement that erupted in the pit of her stomach ever since he was near or his name was mentioned.

She didn't like the feeling at all, and for someone like him, she was sure to keep away.

"Ha." She gasped, as he wrapped his hand around her waist.

"Milord?" Beatrice gasped.

"If you keep behaving like this Beatrice, I'll have no other option but to call you Little Beatle. Have you seen a Beatle fly Beatrice?" The Lord asked.

Beatrice sighed, before relaxing her nerves.

She did call the women that danced with the Lord pathetic people.

Was she pathetic as well? No, she wasn't.

"No Milord, do Beatle fly?" Beatrice asked.

TheLord chuckled, shaking his head as he watched her flap her lashes.

"I think they do and they don't?"

"That's just an assumption, Milord, I thought you were precise." Beatrice huffed.

TheLord's brows narrowed down as he watched her dance.

She wasn't even aware that her arms that were tensed up to his had relaxed and she was dancing beautifully now.

He sighed.

It was not a good thing. Doing these things with her was not a thing that was supposed to take place but what could he do?

She was looking so breathtaking and that measly sentinel had come to perch on a flower so white and pure.

"Milord?" Beatrice called, and he looked down at her again.

"The music had long stopped."

"Hmm. That was a beautiful dance, Beatrice." He said and she nodded.

He let go of her arm and she smiled.

The Lord of Viscoria walked to the man that he had thought had long gone.

"Why are you still here?"

"Yuan said a few things and I had to stop and watch the show." The other man answered to have the Lord smile.

"Hmm, it is indeed a show to watch. How free are you Niklaus, I would love to show you a few things the congressmen brought to my attention last night. Said some dark creatures were found at the Southern borders." The Lord said.

"Bother yourself with solving your problems with that little pure thing, then poke your nose in my business Wolfarine. The world will snatch her away before you even know it." Niklaus said.

"It would be a good thing on my path." The Lord said.

"I heard little Zane became an Alpha, the little thing still thinks he could take me?"

"Don't underestimate little children Nik, they come out to be very dangerous." The Lord said, his lips quirked up to a smile.

"It is better to teach them who has the power than to let them glow the way they think they could. Look at Mane for an instant, little thing thinks he can stand up to his elder brother in becoming the next Duke of the Land." Niklaus said, as his eyes caught the man that had entered the room.

"Mane, is it?" The Lord asked, for Niklaus to nod.

"I don't know what your brother is doing for him to leave little children competing for the hand of the Duke, tell Gilbert that anytime he wants a brain resetment, I am sure to comply." The Lord said again.

"Tell him that yourself, after all, he is also your brother."

"Cousin, you mean. An idiot pathetic one at that." The Lord said, clicking his tongue.

"See for yourself what I told you Wolfarine, look at the little Mane going to the flower." The man the walking away to have the Lord frown watching the younger man go up the stairs.
