Jeremy walked through the corridor of the hospital. He was on his way to Steve's room when he heard laughter. One particular voice caught his attention. He stopped halfway to the door and listened, then proceeded to open it.
Inside the hospital room were three people. A much better looking Steve layed on the bed. Stress filled Tony sitting on a couch at the far end of the room. And the beauty Melissa sitting on a chair next to the bed.
Jeremy eyes swept the room quickly. But they lasted a little longer on Melissa. Her beautiful long red hair looked shinier then he remembered. She wore a black gown and black boots. Her hair was styled up revealing her perfect jawline and flawless cheekbones. Her lips rosy a full. She turned to the door the moment he walked in. They all did.
"Well, well, well. Look who has finally graced me with his presence." Steve mocked the moment He entered. But he ignored him.
"I see your in better shape."
"Where you expecting me to die." Steve replied. And Jeremy smiled ignoring his comment. He was obviously upset that he hadn't come to visit since he regained consciousness. Instead he turned his attention to Melissa.
"Miss Williams."
"Mr...Er..No.."
"Nobody." Tony helped Melissa to say when he noticed her unwillingness to say Jeremy's last name. "It's a weird last name, we know. It's gonna take a while but you'll get use to it."
"Mr Nobody." Melissa struggled to say. It just didn't feel right. No matter how many times she recited it in her head. No one deserves to be called a nobody. Especially someone like him. Why on earth would someone have such a last name? Melissa wondered, but didn't realise the huge frown that had appeared on her face due to her dislike of Jeremy's last name.
"Wow, you must really hate my last name." Jeremy said with a smirk. When he noticed the frown on Melissa's face. She was not the first person to dislike it.
"No. Certainly not. I was thinking about something else." She lied.
"Your a terribly lier." Jeremy said. "Very terribly." Steve agreed. And Tony laughed.
"I wasn't lieing. But I'll take that as a compliment." Melissa said politely. Jeremy smiled inwardly at her childishness. She must be a very fragile person he imagined. Someone soft and sweet and kind. He remembered when she hugged him. How sweet and naive she was when she was drunk. And how stubborn she was when she woke up. How kind of her to visit Steve, a person she had only meet once. To bad the world wasn't built for sweet people like her.
Jeremy sighed and looked towards Steve. "How you doing?" He asked.
"Well my leg is broken, as you can clearly see. Been in the hospital for what seems like forever and my mum is begging me to return to London with her. So far no so good." Steve replied.
"Are you gonna return with her?"
"I won't if you beg me to stay." Steve replied with a proud smile.
"Safe travels then." Jeremy smirk.
"Fine. I'll stay back only because you begged." Steve grumbled. And Melissa laughed.
"You know. If l didn't already know, l would think that you were all brothers." Melissa said with a genuine smile.
"Thankfully we're not. This one would have probably strangled us in our cribs while we were still babies." Tony said referring to Jeremy.
Jeremy smirk. "Probably."
"He won't do that." Melissa defended. Then realised she knew nothing about Jeremy. She turned towards him and asked "You won't do that right?"
"I don't know. And besides it's not important because we're not brothers and I'm not trying to murder any one, so stop giving me that look." Jeremy said.
"Sorry." Melissa said. "But you wouldn't do that right?" She persisted.
"Why are you so interested in that?" Jeremy asked.
Melissa didn't answer she just smiled. "I should leave. Take care of yourself Steve." Melissa said to Steve and rose from her sit.
"Thank you for coming to see me. And don't forget, I'm being discharged on Saturday and I'm hosting a party on Sunday evening. I want you to be there. You still have my address don't you?"
"Yes l do."
"So you'll be there?" Steve asked pouting like a little boy.
Melissa chuckled. "Yes, I will. See you soon. Goodbye Steve. Tony. Mr Nobody." Melissa said and looked Jeremy right in his grey eyes and walked out."
"You pissed her off." Steve said looking at Jeremy.
"More like scared her off." Jeremy scoffed.
"Nope she seemed a little pissed off." Tony concord. "Steve was right. You like her."
Jeremy sighed. "No l don't."
"Denial. Your sweetest remedy." Steve said with a smirk.
