Chapter 43 - Hellfire

"Something is wrong, they should have already broken through the seal, why are they not showing up?" spoke up a woman dressed in white robe decorated with gold.

Many people dressed in similar colors to her shared the sentiment, even if it was objectively a good thing that the devils weren't pouring out of hell right now, the fact that they weren't didn't make any sense, the seal dividing hell and the mortal realm was weak at the moment, at least a few devils should be coming out.

The people in white and gold couldn't just leave when the seal was so vulnerable, for the seal to have weakened so far, it meant that the devils had been damaging it steadily over a long period, they wouldn't have done it just for the sake of it, they must have been meaning to exit hell.

At long last, the remnants of the seal suddenly crumbled and the ground split open, linking the mortal realm to hell, everybody expected a ton of demons of all ranks to suddenly bursts out but for a few seconds, nothing happened, until a single hand was seen grasping onto the edge of the hole in the ground, the hand was slightly reddish and was covered in dark red flames whose borders were black, hellfire, the hand showed five claws of similar color to the hand that were also covered in hellfire.

Pulling itself up, nobody did anything, they had been expecting devils but these definitely wasn't one, its aura had nothing hellish or anything, it made every single person present slightly ungrasp their weapons and forget to think for a few moments.

A faceless creature covered in constant hellfire stood before them, it definitely was a monster of some kind but their was a strange holy feeling to its presence or rather than holy, it seemed as though it had accomplished something worthy of holiness.

Upon bringing her attention to the opened hole in the ground, the robed woman understood what created that feeling, there were no presences in the hole at all, it had slayed all of the devils in hell, all of them, it had cleansed it all.

An action worthy of praises but seeing the creature, it was clear that it hadn't done all of this for holiness, it was clear that it had killed them all but for one reason, its presence clearly told that it was a born-killer.

Almost immediately after that observation was made, the monster proceeded to demonstrate it as it swung its hand in front of it self, covering the area before itself in hellfire, not even leaving any ashes of those caught in it, the survivors of the attack showered the monster with holy attacks, unaware that it was resistant to them, the strength of these attacks wouldn't have been enough to even slightly inconvenience it had it been weak to it.

The monster easily scorched all of them to death, causing fires to start as the hellfire spread at an impressive speed, like a tide slamming against the shore, the fire burned over villages, forests, cities and anything in its path.

It was ironic to think that it was using the fire of the first it had massacred to wreck havoc on the very same the devils would have wrecked havoc upon.

Those with less discernement than the robed ones believed that it was a devil doing it all, it seemed like a world would once again fall victim to a terribly powerful venerer...

Or was it?

"Hey" the venerer heard a voice calling out to it from behind, a man dressed in all black was casually standing in the middle of the hellfire, the fire unable to reach him at all as if he was protected by an invisible bubble.

The man was covered in dark clothing from head to toe, dark boots, dark long gloves, beneath his waist, some of his clothes fluttered in the wind, it looked some taussets but made out of tissue, the man was holding a swordstaff in his hand, the blade was dark and slightly shiny, giving out a violet color when hit by the sun.

The venerer felt a resonance with the man, clearly indicating his status, never had a venerer met a holder of it that wasn't from the past, immediately, the venerer backed off.

"Why so scared? I thought you were a tough one" spoke the man in a deep and amused voice as he pointed his swordstaff at the venerer.

"Mmmh, that's disappointing, I thought we had something in common but you are nothing but a beast, you still hold on to fear" uttered the man before starting to swing his swordstaff in a very flashy way, usually, doing such a thing would be done by people training to familiarise with their weapons or dumbasses who thought it was a good idea but the fluid movement, the sound it made seemed to pull the venerer's consciouness out for a moment and it was unable to avoid its head from being chopped off in swift movement.

Such a wound was laughable for a venerer but it couldn't help but feel like man would accomplish something unprecedented.

"Impressive regeneration! Very good, really! It was instantaneous!" remarked the man as he moved, seemingly disappearing completely, no sound or smell could be made out before the attacks strucks.

The attacks were fast enough to keep the venerer in place as he as he was able to chop of its limbs right as they regenerated, even when it tried to regenerate in other ways to trick the man, he managed to do it just as simply, it was like he was in the venerer's head, anticipating its every moves.

Even more impressive when considering that he wasn't using any energies or skills to pull it off, he possessed neither mana or anything else, it was all the work of himself.

The strength with which he swung his weapon pushes the flames away, even straight extinguishing it in some cases, from an outsider perspective, it seemed like the man had no weapons or arms, the speed was too high for them to be visible, same went for the regenerating limbs.

The already insanely fast movements increased on intensity, overtaking the venerer's nonsensical regeneration ability and in a moment, the venerer seemingly vanished out of thin air, cut down to its very atoms.

"Well, that was pretty fun but not thrilling, let's try to fight some other people" spoke the man outloud before casually walking away.

'That was a bit disappointing though...' he thought as he turned around, suddenly a wave of information washed over him and he grasped his swordstaff thightly as he laughed clearly.

"I see, so..."

"That 'Loimos' is the strongest of them or rather, us all?" he muttered, invigorated at such good information he walked away happily.
