Chereads / Love in the Coffee Shop / Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Forcing myself to get up from bed to turn off the alarm. I am supposed to talk to Mia regarding the incident that happened around Ax Farrel. Dragging my feet to walk towards the bathroom, looking at myself in the morning made me realize that I looked like a mess in the morning. I washed my face and fixed my hair before going out of the bathroom. I'll take a shower after I talk to Mia. I went to the kitchen and made some coffee for myself, holding the cup in one hand. I walked towards my office upstairs on the third floor to wait for Mia.

As I arrived on the third floor I saw Mia walking upstairs from behind me. "Didn't expect for you to come early" I smirked looking down at her from above the stairs. She stopped and moved her bag to the arm while the other arm was on her hip. She looked at me from head to toe and waved her hand, "Open the damn door so we can finish talking, you don't smell good" She said showing her devilish smile. I rolled my eyes at her and opened the door, when the door was opened Mia rushed inside bumping her bag into my arm. I shook my head in disbelief at what she did and seeing her back in front of me I quickly smelled myself. I smell good, I thought. I scoffed, remembering what she said to me earlier.

She quickly put the envelope on the table and sat down in the chair beside my table. I walked towards my chair while sipping my coffee. I put down my coffee and sat down, I opened the brown envelope and read the papers that were written there. I smiled at the information Mia got for me, I trained her well. I put down the papers and returned them to the envelope, I stood and walked over to my cabinet and put the envelope to add to my collection of information. I returned to my seat and smiled at Mia. "I got everything I wanted," I told her.

"Well, of course, It's me we're talking about" She replied, feeling confident in herself. I shook my head at her and sipped my coffee. "So his cousin betrayed their alliance, huh? Half of his assets were stolen just for trusting his cousin" I said, laughing. Well, I can relate to that, the first person who betrayed me was my uncle, my father's trusted friend. Remembering what happened to my past made my blood boil. I closed my eyes to calm myself. "Are you okay?" Mia asked, worried. "Yeah, I'm fine," I assured her.

I finished my cup of coffee. "Let's go" I invited her to go down. Mia went straight downstairs to the shop and I went to my apartment on the second floor to make breakfast and take a shower. I opened the door and entered, heading straight to the kitchen when I saw Ax opening some of the cabinets, looking for something. "Need anything?" I asked.

"Ahh!" Ax shouted, seeing me, he sighed and put his hand on his chest. "Don't scare me like that," He said, calming himself. "Sorry about that, my lady," I said, teasing him. He scoffed and walked towards the coffee maker while limping. "What were you looking for?" I asked, sitting in front of the kitchen counter. "Cup for coffee, I've been calling you but you were not responding so I thought you were out" He explained. I mouthed an o at him and stood up to look for some food in the refrigerator.

"What do you want to eat?" I asked, scanning the fridge. "Anything, I eat anything," He said. I gave him a questioning look and he shrugged his shoulders. I just took some eggs and bacon to fry for our breakfast since he said he can eat everything. I opened one of the cabinets and took out a pan and put it on the stove. I opened the stove to heat the pan and put in some of the oil. I fried the eggs first and fried the bacon. I served the eggs and bacon on one big plate and handed an empty plate to Ax and put down my plate on the table. I also took a clean bowl for the rice. We are eating peacefully, Ax enjoying his food while I watched some funny clips on my phone while eating.

"You guys look like a newlywed"

Ax and I glanced at where we heard the voice and saw Mia standing there with an annoyed face. "What?" I asked. "Oh nothing, just wondering why my boss is still not coming to work," She said. Mia walked towards us and smiled at Ax. "I'm Mia and you are?" Feigning ignorance at Ax, she showed her hand at Ax for a handshake."Ax" Ax took the handshake and smiled back at Mia.

Mia turned to me and took one apple from the counter and bit on it. "There are customers who keep on glancing at the shop while passing by, so you better hurry up," She said. I looked at the time and was surprised to see what time it was. The coffee shop usually opens at 9 and it's already 10 o'clock. I gobbled my food and washed my plate and utensils then put it in the dishwasher. I rushed to my room to take a shower, after taking a shower I just wore whatever I saw first and took my phone to the counter in the kitchen. "I'll be downstairs if you need anything" Not bothering to look and wait for Ax's reply, I went outside the apartment and rushed downstairs to the shop.

I made my way to the counter and wore my apron. After wearing my apron, I walked towards the door and opened the shop. I was just walking to return to my spot when the door chimes rang. I glanced back and saw a group of teenagers. I walked faster to return to the counter and faced them. I smiled at them. "Hi! What can I get you?" I asked using my cheerful voice.

The girls talked to each other about what coffee they would get. "I'll have Tanzania Peaberry"

"Hawaii Kona coffee for me, please"

The first two girls who ordered their coffee picked a table for them to sit on while waiting for the others to finish their order. "I'll just have an Espresso," The third one said and smiled at me. I nodded at her and she turned her back to walk toward her friends at their table. The last girl was still looking at our menu having a hard time picking a coffee until she saw something that caught her eye and she showed me the menu while pointing at the coffee she picked. I smiled when I saw the name of the coffee that she picked. "One death wish coffee for you then," I said smiling, she nodded and smiled back at me.

I remembered the time when I invented this coffee. Mia ran away from me and didn't show up for a whole week, I made her my guinea pig. She tasted the coffee that I made until I perfected it. Feeling disgusted at the smell of coffee she didn't show up in the shop for the whole week. I laughed at the memory. I started making the girls coffee.

Hours went by at the coffee shop and it was already two in the afternoon. Seeing that there were no customers, and no people passing by, I left the counter and entered the kitchen. I saw Mia being busy on her phone and tried to spy on her. I was standing at her back peeping at her phone and she was texting with some guy while giggling. "Who's that?" I whispered in her ear.

"Ahhhhh!" She shouted and accidentally threw her phone in the air. Realizing that she threw her phone she caught the phone while panicking. "Seriously?!" She asked, annoyed at what I did. I laughed hard, holding my stomach. "So who's that?" I asked while trying to calm myself, wiping the tear that escaped from my eye. "So, what's up with you and Ax?" She asked back.

I rolled my eyes at her and removed the apron. I put it on top of the kitchen counter and crossed my arms at her. "Nothing important, dumbass," I said, raising my brow at her. She shrugged and returned her focus to her phone. "I'll be upstairs," I said to inform her.

I decided to check on Ax, thinking maybe he needs my help with something. When I opened the door and entered my apartment, I saw Ax sitting on the couch talking to someone on the phone. It looks serious. Seeing him talking to someone serious, I knocked on the wall to take his attention. He saw me and said goodbye on the phone. "It must be an emergency," I said, hoping to get information out of him. "Business matters," He said, dismissing the topic. "I arranged some clothes for you in the cabinet if you need to go," I said.

"Yes, actually I was about to ask you about that. I'll be leaving and going back to my work" He said looking at and smiling sheepishly. "I told you that medicine heals your wounds faster" I smirked at him trying to ease the awkward situation. "Yep, it works faster. How could I ever repay you?" He asked. I was thinking of telling him to give me some money but erased that thought.

"You gave me your business card, I'll just call you if I need some help with something" I assured him and remembered that I didn't give him my business card.

"Wait here," I said. I walked to my room and entered. I looked at my cards and saw them in my bag that I haven't used for weeks. I returned to the living room and gave him my business card. "Thank you again," He said seriously. I nodded at him and smiled. "Go, they must be waiting for you," I said. He entered the guest room and changed.

He returned to the living room fully dressed and you can't even recognize him, his handsome face, his muscular body and the way he moves can make any girl swoon. He walks properly now, enduring the pain of his injured stomach. Ax needs to endure it because one weakness can be his downfall. Looking at his pale face, it was obvious to me that he is still having a hard time moving. He finished fixing himself and I walked him out to the apartment.

We arrived at the shop and he was looking at the counter, I smiled, "Have a coffee, drink it on your way" I offered. He smiled at me sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. "I'll have an espresso then" He replied. I made my way to the counter and wore an apron. I immediately started making his coffee and served it to him. "Thank you again and again," He said, raising his coffee to me and turning his back to leave.

I was kind of disappointed that he left. I thought. I shook my head to remove these foolish thoughts. Why would I be disappointed and not like we're not going to meet again? He's a future partner, nothing else. I don't know why I felt disappointed but I need to get rid of these kinds of attachments. Even if it's only a simple attachment, I don't want to risk anything. For me not to be betrayed anymore, I'll be careful and choose a person to trust properly.

Shaking my head again to wake myself up and make myself focus on the shop. I wiped the counter and cleaned a table that was used by the previous customer. After cleaning everything, I took a peek into the kitchen and saw Mia washing some dishes. "Hey," I said. She glanced back and looked at me curiously. "What do you want?" She said, annoyed at something. "What's wrong?" I asked. She sighed and washed the soap out of her hands, she wiped her hands and turned to me to face me properly. "Sandy told me that Liam danced with some bitch last night at the club," She said almost spitting when she mentioned the girl.

"So you and Sander, talk to each other about Liam? Why?" I asked curiously but honestly, I already knew why. Even though the two of them are always bickering, you can still see in Mia's eyes that she has a thing for Liam.

Getting nervous, Mia turned her back on me and continued washing the dishes. "Hmmm" I hummed beside her, Mia just rolled her eyes at me and I just laughed at her reaction. Teasing her is always fun. Hearing the door chimes, I decided to return to the counter.

I saw an elderly walk towards the counter holding a cane to support himself from walking. When he arrived in front of me at the counter, I smiled at him. "Good afternoon sir, What can I get you?" I asked.
