Chapter 16 - CH 15: Insomniac Universe?

*Gasp*

Peter woke up with a startled gasp, his eyes shooting open. As he panted, he stared up at the sky. He was about to panic, thinking where he was and what the hell was going on. But remembering who he was and where he was, he slowly calmed down. His breathing slowed down, along with his heartbeat.

'I really didn't need to cook this hard with shapeshifting into a human form. I get that Symbiotes feel emotions and physical discomforts too, but damn, I really don't think it should be this much.

If I had just devoured it like I did with Peter, it would have been over in an instant. I would have gotten the powers, then I could devour the other super spiders too. And I wouldn't need to go through this. Haaah, but oh well, I need to do it for my identity. And besides, the anticipation adds to the fun.'

Sorting out his rambling thoughts, he got up, stretched and looked around 'By the way... where the hell am I...?' He found himself on top of a rooftop in the middle of the night. A fancy rooftop. One that screamed rich people shit.

Frowning, he walked to the edge and looked down. His frowned harder "No wonder it feels so chilly up here. I'm on top of a skyscraper... Explains the fancy pool and all."

'But how did I get here? Did something happen when I fully absorbed the spider venom? Maybe the good old "woke up while hanging from a building after getting the Symbiote" scene happened? God, I always loved those scenes.

But that doesn't make sense. The Symbiote would control Peter's body and take him to places, but my body isn't being controlled. Just getting powers shouldn't make something like this happen...

I need to figure out what's going on. My guts telling me this isn't as simple as it seems. And it definitely doesn't seem simple to begin with. But before that, I have something else to check.' He smirked.

Closing his eyes, he focused on his body. His structure. It was one of the powers he had. He didn't want a system, he didn't like those, so he had wished for a power to know exactly what his powers were. It was how he so easily got used to his and Spider-Man's powers.

'Oooh, not bad, not bad at all.' He grinned in satisfaction 'Spider-Man's webs being so weak during combat had always been so goddamn annoying to me personally. So this? I actually like this!

Sure, I didn't get any fancy new powers like Miles' Electricity Generation, but this is no slouch either. Spider-Man's organic webbings were super strong to begin with. Enough to help him stop a train going full speed.

But now? This new Organic Super Webbing is several times stronger! I don't know how much exactly yet, but I'll figure it out. But best of all, these webbings are actually fireproof! Ha ha!

That's going to be super useful with my weakness to fire! I can also manipulate my webs, which is nice too. Doesn't seem really appealing right now, but I'm sure I'll see its worth later on.

And besides, I'll get those other fancy powers later on too. Whether from the super spiders...' His grin turned malicious 'Or from another type of Spiders.'

Swallowing back his saliva before he could drool, he stepped on the edge of the rooftop 'But before all of that, I need answers.' And began to free fall after turning his clothes into his suit. But instead of going black and purple, he just went with the old but gold black and white suit. Specifically, the 1994 black suit. (Image:)

'Because damn, that suit looked so fucking cool. I was so sad when it was gone. That thing had an unmatched aura. Seriously, no suit of Peter, and I mean absolutely none, would ever match it in pure fucking drip and aura!'

He shot and swung from a web, instantly marveling at his new web. He could feel how much stronger it had become. It was a "super" version of his old organic webbing, after all. Not just a slightly improved version of his old webbing.

He simply swung around, trying to find out anything weird. And he did. The world seemed... unusual. Not in the usual sense, as in something was going to happen. But in a different manner of weird.

'Call me crazy, but I fell like... the world's graphics got funky?' He thought in confusion. And as he was swinging from a tall skyscraper, he caught a glance of himself on the glass wall. "Is that me?!" Peter quickly took a double take before swinging back.

Gently sticking to the glass wall, he looked at his reflection in utter confusion "What happened?! The world's graphics really did turn funky! Because why do I look like a PS4 game character now?!"

Pulling up his mask, he noticed the same had happened with his appearance. He looked like a character straight out of a high quality PS4 game.

'Alright, I'm starting to freak out! What the hell's going on?!' He looked down at the street to find anything to give him a clue as to what was going on. And thankfully, a TV set on the news channel was there to help him.

He web zipped to a nearby lamppost and listened in "...Months have passed since the Devil's Breath breakout. A pandemic was fortunately avoided thanks to the cure developed by Dr Morgan Michaels. Currently, all Sable International personnel have been confirmed to have left New York City. Furthermore..."

As the news continued, Peter's eyes widened behind the mask "Oh, my fucking god... I'm in the Insomniac Spider-Man universe!" He put his hand on his head, subconsciously trying to run his fingers through his hair. The mask got in the way of doing that, but it still somewhat helped with calming him down.

'That explains the weird graphics of the world. But how the hell am I here?' After thinking about it, it finally clicked, and he couldn't help but facepalm 'Oh, my fucking god... I completely forgot about that power I wished for...'

Multiversal Teleportation. It was a very unique power he had wished for along with his ability to devour other superpowers. Why had he wished for such an ability? It was to get multiple copies of the same abilities to empower them.

After all, why settle for the normal version when he could make it much stronger than the original? Just like his spider powers, which had already grown twice as strong, he wanted to empower other abilities that he would eventually get.

'Haaah, I had completely forgotten about this power since I couldn't activate it while in space for some reason. So, did it accidentally get activated while I was absorbing the spider venom? I guess it's a good thing though, since it could have taken some time before I remembered it.'

As he sat there, he wondered about his next course of action. His unique power could instantly take him back if he wanted to, but he was already here, he figured he could stick around some more.

'Since I'm already here, let's get some more powers before I go back.' He smirked, a malicious glint in his eyes. But his thoughts were interrupted by his Spider-Sense going off as a car sped past him, with a police car chasing after it.

Spider-Man smiled in amusement 'I guess I'll help a bit now that I'm here.' He web zipped before swinging after the car. He heard the panic voice of the Maggia thug as he shot at the police "Shit, it's Spider-Man! Shoot that damn but dead!"

His and his pal's target changed to him, but he easily dodged the bullets with his enhanced Spider-Sense and reflexes before web zipping to land on top of the car "It sure is, guys! Happy to see you're excited to see me!"

"Die, you bug-" One thug aimed at him, but he simply grabbed the gun and crushed it, causing the thug to scream as his finger broke under his hold as well. A punch to the face knocked him unconscious though, so he didn't suffer much.

As he webbed him to his seat, he followed the guidance of his Spider-Sense and dodged the bullets that were fired at him before kicking the guy next to the thug unconscious as well. After webbing him up as well, he punched the car's roof and split it open with ease, causing the thugs in the front seats to stare up at him in shock as he smirked "Hey, fellas."

He punched their head, making sure his strength was enough to just knock them out and not blow their heads up. The car began to stir out of control without the driver controlling it. He quickly webbed them up as well before flipping in the air, grabbing the car mid flip, then throwing it into the air.

As the car flipped again and again, he quickly webbed it up before it could land on some random citizens. Landing on the ground, he dusted his hands off "Another job well done! Damn, I'm good."

The police car stopped behind him and two policemen stepped out "Good job, Spider-Man! Thanks for the help. Though, getting them down is going to be a bit of a hassle. You rocking a new suit?"

"Yeah, thought I might as well try something new."

"It looks good."

"Thanks, I know. I'll be seeing you around, officers!" And he swung away. But in truth, he turned invisible and came to stick to a nearby building. His reason? He knew Spider-Man was probably on his way to stop the car before he intervened, so he was waiting for him.

A little bit later, and this universe's Spider-Man showed up as well. He could smell his delicious scent all the way from his spot, but he shoved away his hunger 'No. Killing one good Spider-Man is enough. For now, at least.'

His heart was at ease, knowing that he didn't need to kill this Spider-Man as well. His devouring power worked in a unique way. To get a new power, he had two ways. One, getting it from a power source, such as the spider venom, or two, by devouring someone who had powers.

But the unique part started from there. After devouring someone and getting their powers, if he met a variation of that person in another universe, he didn't need to eat them as well. Just a simple drop of blood or piece of meat of that person would be enough to copy all his powers as well.

'So now, I could just sneakily and quickly make a small cut on him, drink his blood, get all his powers, then quietly go back to my own universe. But that wouldn't be so fun, would it?'

With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he decided to have fun while he was around. It wasn't everyday that he would get to meet his favorite superhero, after all. At least on peaceful terms, where he wasn't planning on eating him.

He quietly spied on the arachnid hero, who landed on the street in confusion "What in the world...?" The movement of the lenses of his mask showed his confusion as he gazed up at the webbed car.

He grew more confused as the officer who talked to Peter turned to him "Oh, Spider-Man, you're back. Did you forget something?"

"Huh? Uh, oh... uhh, no, no, I didn't... forget anything." He tried to sound convincing "I just... you know, decided to come back and check if everything was alright. Make sure the Maggia guys didn't escape or anything."

"Oh, everything's alright, alright. With how you webbed these guys up, even we'll have trouble getting them out."
