As soon as the group of soldiers realized that the Bagani was with Freida, every single one of them made a beeline for him as soon as they could. However, before they could even get a hold of him or Freida, the Bagani quickly grabbed Freida's wrist and ran away with her. This occurred before they were even able to catch either of them.
They were immediately pursued by the soldiers, but Bagani, who was more nimble than the others, promptly dragged Freida along with him. However, because Freida was not accustomed to running at such a fast pace, the Bagani was able to tell that Freida had already reached her limits.
After hearing that, he made the decision to halt his progress about halfway through. And once he had ensured Freida's safety by positioning her behind him, he raised his palm in front of the approaching soldiers to signal to them to halt where they were and warn them not to proceed.
