Zale’s POV
“Zale, it’s about Adeline.” Johnny’s voice is low and rushed, and his eyes are wild with an emotion I can’t quite pinpoint.
“What about Adeline?” I ask as I continue to get dressed after getting out of the shower. “Make it quick because there is a lot of work I need to get done before dinner.”
“I don’t know exactly what happened,” Johnny’s voice comes out in short bursts of air as if he’d run here from his previous location. “I just heard a lot of commotion in the kitchen with Adeline, Leona, and your mother. From what I heard of the conversation, it’s bad.”
