'I'm finally finished' Amber released a sigh of relief after she thought about all the hard work she did for Alexander but smiled knowing it was worth it.
Amber heard a knock on the hospital door and glanced up with her icy purple eyes to see who it was.
"Amber, do you have a moment to talk?" I nodded at the man standing in my hospital room doorway then he walked in sitting on a chair beside my bed.
He looked hesitant at first. As if he knew what he was going to say would disappoint me.
'Nothing good ever happens to me. What could he say that could make everything worse. Im used to being disappointed and let down all the time.'
"What is it, Shawn?" I said my voice sounding cold, knowing it wasn't good.
"I found Zachary's phone."
"You found nothing, right,"
Amber said it as more of a statement than a question. Her expression didn't change, not even making the usual jokes which made Shawn tense up at the serious atmosphere surrounding them.
"W-"
"Yes, give me his phone." Shawn handed her the phone thinking 'I forgot how serious she gets when it revolves around the ones she loves or when it's just purely business.'
"Amber are you-"
"Im fine! Shut up and leave!" Amber snapped using a voice that would make anyone freeze when she heard him using the words everyone kept asking her.
'Why won't everyone just drop it! I'm not so fragile that I will break at any point. Fuck, the next time someone asks me that I won't be the one to break but they will'
Amber thought, feeling her emotions rise, and when Shawn left they burst and she kept furiously wiping away the tears. By doing that her incredibly fragile skin turned red.
'Fuck having tears and all these useless emotions!' Amber thought her rage was boiling and wished she could lose all her emotions slowly losing the light in her eyes.
Yet there was still a glimmer of light that wouldn't leave her eyes no matter how hard she tried but all she could do was pretend it wasn't there.
Soon Amber became a soulless puppet that could move.
'Emotions are the same thing that made me lose my life in the past. Without them, I no longer need to wor-'
Amber snapped her head to the door when she heard a couple of knocks followed by someone opening the door.
'Oh, it's him' Amber thought looking at who entered her room. Her earlier coldness disappeared and only a gentle look could be seen on her expression.
She looked at the person who entered her hospital room with a soft smile on her lips.
"Amber." Said the person that entered her room with a trembling lip and eyes that started to water. I looked at him wondering why he was sobbing and said.
"What's the matter, Leo?" I asked, my voice sounding flat. Leo then ran over and hugged me refusing to let go. I patted his back trying to soothe my little lion.
'He must miss our older brother.' I thought to myself still comforting my brother until he fell asleep.
I wrapped Leo in a blanket setting him on my bed softly then I got up and sat on the chair looking at him with my eyebrows deeply furrowed.
It was as if the girl with Midnight black hair was thinking deeply about something that troubled her to the core.
As if what was on her mind gave her is much trouble it could never leave her mind making her want to know the answer even more.
'I was injured then Zaky was suddenly.. I know they're connected but why? Who would do this?
Who was the real target, me or Zachary?' I stopped thinking about it, knowing I wont get my questions answered.
For a while, Leo and I were attached to the hip and when he wasn't around I was investigating Zachary's death but every time I came up empty.
I would always look at his phone especially when I tried to call that unknown number. I had a gut feeling that whoever it was has something to do with my older brother's death. And I always trust my gut, because it's never wrong.
'I bet if I trusted my gut back then I wouldn't have died. Especially that cruelly' I thought remembering how I died back then at 'his' hands.
