Hayden and Hunter moved towards the building. There were among the first fifty to be on their way and no one had yet to reach the door. Behind them were the crowds of young teenagers, of both sex and one race; humans.
One could hear the different chatter and excited voices amongst the crowd of young people. Different topics ranging from the upcoming test to them seeing their friends also present. From their looks and outfit, it screamed wealth. Among were some folks who were mostly likely from average backgrounds or bring sponsored by a noble lord trying to chip in some words or two in conversations in order to make acquaintances.
What make the world spin around apart from money, influence.
You being present simply means that you have discovered your element and you are within of age. But also been invited to the King's academy also meant you are either a genius in an area of filed such as alchemy, forgemaster, healer, beast tamer, or you have a high affinity with your elemental powers or the other route of you been from a noble household. For the last part, whether your elemental affinity was high or low wasn't taken into consideration to get accepted for the test, so far as you are a noble. Ever heard of the president son flanking his grades, never possible.
As the young adults approached the house, those at the front immediately stopped as a transparent barrier prevented them from ongoing forward. The others who were coming from behind were surprised as to why the front packs had to stop when the building was still some distance away from them. Likewise Hayden and Hunter who stared around warily upon reaching the barrier.
"You think something is about to happen?"
Hayden asked curiously as he glanced around, making eye contact with some folks, especially the pretty girls who quickly turned their faces away or down with rosy cheeks. Though not to lie, they attracted a lot of attention because it wasn't every time one sees a two identical twins, one walking alongside the other on a moving wheel chair. But both being handsome but the one standing being most lady pick.
"Yeah, something like a test" Hunter responded.
He wasn't far from the truth, as they were all about to find out.
"Even cripples now want to be Elementals?"
A fat burly boy spoke out loud while laughing hard, his thick short palm clutching his stomach firmly. Soon enough, even those that ignored Hunter and Hayden quickly looked towards them. With all attention on them, many gasped as they at first thought the fat boy was joking.
Two handsome twins, one described as the perfect choice for a physical attraction towards women and the other the same but with a minus. What didn't he had that his brother did, legs.
"They are cute" some girls said from the crowd.
"Yeah, but I preferred the one with the legs" another said as giggling followed after her comment.
Hayden wasn't bothered the least about the attention, cause he knew his twin, his new present personality after he awoke didn't give a damn about roaches whispering nor big fat of ball flesh speaking like clowns. Normal he would love to join Hunter and ignore them, let it slide. But he felt that if his elder brother wasn't going to say something for himself cause he didn't care, then he would love to give them a piece of his mind.
"Say you boy, are you a bag of flesh ?" He asked out loud.
The eruption of laughter was the least expected as everyone began to laugh. Someone even highlighted seeing a cripple, then a bag of flesh and that school was really going to be fun.
Hayden's words made Hunter to smile as he turned around this time to take a proper look at the bag of flesh who was so stunned to speak, and was just looking around at the faces laughing at home with anger masking his expression.
"You think you are a pretty boy huh?, do you know who you just insulted?"
The embrassed teen quickly gained his wits and asked furiously, hands folded to form fists and his voice pitched high trying to gain awareness of his status amongst the crowd
"No one knows, no one cares"
Hayden said with a bored tone as he turned towards the gasps coming from those in front of the shimmering barrier.
"Welcome everyone to the King's academy. In the next sixty seconds, you are to familiarise yourself with both your surroundings and the people in it. After sixty seconds, the barrier would be pulled up and you have to reach the building in front of you within Fifteen minutes."
The young teens began to gasps as they whisper amongst themselves at the task that awaited them. Some began to even form teams and recruit their friends before the announcement was even done.
The moment the voice was about to speak, everyone was involuntarily made to shut up.
Such effect was noted by Hunter who seemed quite surprised cause he could hear just the faintest of whisper within his thoughts before it disappeared.
"You can form teams, pair up or go solo. What ever you do, get to the building before the five minutes elapses or else " with a brief pause the autonomous voice continued "You would go home".
A large clock materialised before their eyes as it began to count down from sixty to zero.
This spurred on the students towards action immediately as everyone began to look for those who could fly, blink, teleport and who were speedsters. Also those who even had ingenious method to move with speed.
Twenty seconds left and the whole crowd became more frenzy. There were lots of deals been made and agreements reinforced by contract signing.
