He listened keenly as Hayden looked at him with all seriousness before letting out a long deep sigh.
"I heard about if from Ophelia."
He walked towards a table and dragged a chair out. With a slight thud, he continued his narration.
"We were about to enroll in school. First year in our academy. Every student have four years to spend. Three in school and one as an intern in the real world, after that you graduate and do what ever you want to. According to what Ophelia said, the king passed a decree that ensured everyone goes to school. For those who genuinely couldn't afford it, several scholarships were setup for such students. Every one loved the idea and the king seeing that everyone were happy with his decree and right thinking decision, he decided to openly award the man who came up with the idea".
He took in a deep breathe, giving himself some few seconds pause before continuing his tale.
"With such action my brother was where our trobule began".
Hunter didn't say anything and just kept on looking at Hayden attentively. Hayden thought his twin would want to make a suggestion or guess who the man that came up with the idea was but contrary to his opinion, Hunter made no move say a word. Just staring ahead like a mannequin that just occasionally breathed and blinked.
Knowing fully well that he should continue his story and the small window chance for a question or contribution has expired, he cleared his throat like an old man and continued the tale.
"The said man whom the award was to be given to was our own father." Still no reaction from Hunter.
"Well, you see our father was just a Count and he really wasn't a big shot, that was not until good things about our father's governance entered into the majesty ears. You see we humans love to gossip, especially this kingdom. No much fighting, just gossiping and assassination. That's some folks after hearing what you said about then and it didn't please their hearts send assassins to your home at night. And you my brother, that was what happened to us. Unfortunately they saw our family convoy and thought it our father was inside, meanwhile he wasn't. It was just Ophelia, Amelia, you and I. And what Ophelia told me was that we almost died saving them. Since Amelia couldn't fight she had to protect her and at that moment we seemed to be her heroes at war."
He took another voluntary pause, with a smile he waited for Hunter to acknowledge his words with some talks or at least some facial expressions.
However, he was disappointed because Hunter kept mute. His eyes were still fixed at him while occasionally blinking.
At this point Hayden began to wonder why he was expecting one. Isn't it said that the brain isn't fully functional after a wakeup from a coma. This he read in one book at the library after he woke up, he wondered if the same theory applied from where he came from.
"By the time help came, We were both down and though some of the assassins were killed by us, few manage to escape. You see some corrupted folks in high places in this kingdom didn't like the fact that some of the kingdom free money or should we say surplus were been added into the budget of the Crown. You see the more surplus we have after every year of taxes, the more money would be allocated to your purse as a member of the kingdom nobles. So the higher your noble rank, the more money you get. But since the king is making everyone to go to school which would in turn reduce crime rate and make those who are been sponsored feel entitled to the kingdom for helping them become who they are, the kingdom can therefore boost its military strength. Cause we really need to. Bro our military is shit compared to other human kingdoms. Though we are small in number and size but hey its all about quality and sometimes quantity, but you see...."
"Hey you mean to tell me that an assassination was planned for our father and they got us instead due to some mismatched Intel, right "
Hunter interrupted him with a question. Perharps he was tired of Hayden's rambling and just wanted him to get straight to the point.
"Yes"
"And if I should guess, in order to bring us back to life or should I say from coma"...cough..."Dad and Mom had to go extra lengths to seek a witch or the witches to ask for help, is that right ?"
He asked again, while thinking to himself that he fucked up. His siblings never said he was dead, they only said he was in coma but since he reincarnated into this body, that means the previous owner died after this battle.
"Yes " Hayden voice resounded in his ears, but Hunter was lost in thought as his last sentence continually ringed in his ears.
'Just what if, what if Hayden is not the Hayden of this family, but someone else who also got into this body just like I did. An assumption which is most likely true and not false, but is there anyway to counter it ?'
"Brother what are you thinking?" Hayden asked while giving him a hard stare.
"Oh sorry, I went off". Hunter quickly replied.
"Thinking what I'm thinking ?" He asked again.
This time Hunter looked at him properly with full attention. Hayden was staring hard into his eyes with his jaws held clenched and a relaxed shoulders with arms folded. Man wanted a revenge. It's not like he too wouldn't want it but it's going to be quite a while before he gets it.
But then he definitely wanted it , if not now but later.
"Revenge Hayden, you want a revenge ".
Hayden face gave off a gentle smile which became wider by the second until it reached its limit.
"And is that what you want to brother " He asked.
Hunter began to laugh out loud while Hayden just continued to smile.
"Revenge Brother, always tastes sweeter, when your enemy is dead".
"No truer words have been said Hunter".
He got up from the chair as He and Hunter made their way to the arena, no words were spoken, they understood what needed to be done. The only place where men can get the key to the door of revenge. The key was strength and resolution.
