"Ophelia, Hunter, Hayden and Amelia, are the four children of Count Campbell of the Ruby Empire.
The Ruby Empire is one of the strongest kingdom in the world. That's for the humanity side. Speaking about the world, how many races do you think exist ?"
With a quick look up, Hunter stared at his twin and answered unconvincingly.
"Four ?".
"That really got your head brother", he said with a sad smile.
"It seems I would need to make a broader explanation and you would also need to spend some time in the library".
"Sure, thanks" Hunter replied politely. With a nod, he continued his telling.
"First thing, let start with the world or planet we live in. In this world we have what we call magic, element and affinity. Some people are magicians, others Elementals but all depends on one thing, their affinity to what they practice.
Okay in simpler terms. The world is home to different races not starting from the dominant, down to the predominant, but randomly. The humans, Elves, vampires, werewolves, Dragons, Unicorns, faires, centaurs, orcs, globins, trolls. These are the ones I can remember, trust me, they are many more. So we humans are divided into two different humans, one the elementals and the other, the magicians".
Immediately he produced a ball of flame in his hands which began to flicker and flare out for some seconds before turning into a small dragon flame, dancing within his palm.
"As you can see, I'm an elemental, we are elementals."
With a hand raised, Hunter tried to ask a question.
"Hold on, I know what you want to say: how about me, what's my power. I will surely come to that."
With an approval nod from his twin, he continued.
"Now the other sets of humans are called magicians. like the name implies magic, their power is based on magic, ours on elements.
Now both humans are all alike, I mean we are all the same when we are young. We all posses one thing in common and that's the affinity core. All humans both magicians and Elementals all have an affinity core. Our difference lay on our route to power. You see some people feel the magicians are greater than us because they can use more than two elements power unlike us who are born with one or more in the cases of genius but the crazy thing is that for us elementals, though we spend our time to harness the power of one element we are very tenacious."
They both paused as they got to the garden and breathed in the sweet smell of recently lawned grass.
"Not do dabble too much in history and politics, we humans are at both ends of the worlds. So the world travellers say, but that is it. I mean if we were closer to each other, we would have definitely been the strongest race in the planet. Even the dragons would be no march for us"
With a light laughter he continued after staring at Hunter bewildered look.
"Just kidding bro, quantity is no match for quality. But in this world of ours, anything is possible. Note this, the physiology of a magician differs from that of an Elemental. Not by much but by one or two significant differences. Now, since both race of humans are at the ends of the world, where are the other races then ?"
"In between us" He answered quickly.
"Yes!. Most but not all exist there. Some are friendly with us, like the vampires always looking to lure away their tasty treat which is us, while others hates our guts, like the werewolves because we are helping in providing pleasure to the vampires which we really don't do cause we never submit ourselves willingly but just get kidnapped, and the globins who hate us, because we always have more gold than them, so the more they steal from us, the higher their hatred for us increases. And some like the dragons, who don't give a fuck about us 'puny humans', like they all say, because they are too busy trying to reach the rank of demi god from the legendary beast rank. I mean there are others in this ranks and so on. Well there are also demi gods and demons, well as the gods and devil's. In short man, there are so many beings or creatures in this world that the human library doesn't know about. And yeah, the fucking dwarves, those guys with lots of tricks up their sleeves, but they are one of the smartest of the races".
"Not the smartest ?" He asked inquisitively.
"Yeah". Hayden nodded. " I would say humans are the smartest cause they always cook up some shits that baffles other races reasoning. But the main thing is the fact that we continually evolve and we are the Jack of all trades, master of none".
"The human race isn't guided by any innate code of conduct, and thus we would do anything to win or achieve our goal.
For example the dragons are proud creatures and would never cheat to win a fight. The Elves are gentle and very forgiving, even when wronged, they would choose peace before war, they see themselves as the guardians of nature. As fighting would surely destroy nature, even though small, albeit they aren't to be tested. But unlike the dark Elves, they give no shit about you, step on their toes and a dagger to your throat before you realize what's happening. They are swift, silent and deadly. They are the best assasins, but that's after the shapeshifters".
"The shapeshifters, tell me more about them ?" Hunter interrupted with a question.
With a nod, Hayden continued his narration.
"Nothing about them bro, there's little to no information that exist about them, I mean for a minute I could be a shapeshifter talking to you and you wouldn't know. Though some say they are extinct and others that they are in hiding. But anyways the vampires and Humans can also shapeshift, that's into their other forms. But I call it exposing their inner beast, not necessarily shape shifting."
"Same attitude with the fairies, but the fairies are little pranksters so be wary of them. Sometimes they behave like little globins, that's the dark faires. Why the globins would never attack you if you are a pauper, they leave poor people alone cause they have a code of 'rob the rich and pity the poor'. It was created by one of their kings, can't remember which and they follow this rule up to date. We even got the witches. Did I mention them ?, don't ever cross one and if you fall in love and get married to one, even unknowingly, I'm sorry for you".
"Why" Hunter asked.
"It's because they take their vows of 'till death do us apart' very serious unlike humans".
"You mean till death literally takes one of you away from the other ?".
"Yes, exactly. If you get married to one, and run away from home, or your marital duties, then a bounty would be placed on your head. All races would be after your neck and even some of the dragons might hunt you down depending on the rewards."
"Mhmm, are they much of a big shot ?" Hunter inquired.
"The witches are the best potion makers and spell books creators. After them are the magicians.
The thing is the magicians create their own potions and spell books for themselves, unique to one owns fighting abilities and it can only be used by the creator, that's the spell books not the potions. But the witches can create both and it can be used for various races. And yes, when you get married to a witch, you become a wizard after some years of devotion, you would be taught the secrets of potions and spell books.
That's why when one of their husbands says 'he doesn't want to do again', he's been hunted for two obvious reasons. One to hide the secrets he already knows and the other as a deterrence to other males who feel they can eat their cake and have it. The first condition exists only if he's a wizard. You may be thinking, what if it's the witch that seeks divorce. She would be set before a trial with her husband and if found guilty after they both make their case, she would be exiled from the kingdom and banned from practicing magic and sorcery. And the man auctioned off to the highest bidder. Well sadly for the man if he's found guilty, she would be free of him and he would still be auctioned off, but this time to the lowest bidder".
