Chapter 7 - In danger

I admit I was very surprised by what Kayler told me. What am I yours? This is the last straw . Kayler looks at me sure, apparently he's not lying or playing a joke. But hey! I do not I'm a fucking piece of furniture for him to cross me out as his.

"I'm not yours!" I pushed him, but as expected it didn't work. He's stronger than me. He held my chin with a little force but without hurting me, so that I could look at him. Fuck, his eyes are always so deep, it's easy to get lost in them, I feel calm.

"You're mine. Point. It is not in dispute."

I glared at him, I'm not going to be weaker before his gaze, no. But apparently my brain isn't picking up the information because I inadvertently lowered my gaze to his lips. What will they taste like? Oh my God! I shook my head and released myself from his hold. He grinned playfully and walked around the truck to get back in his seat so he could start off. I think we'll be late for school.

"From now on I'll take you home. Everyday" He emphasized that last. I immediately turned to see him. Who does he think he is? my father?

"Hey, don't abuse either." I said puzzled. "I go back alone, I don't need your company."

He parked in the school parking lot and turned off the car. I was still waiting for an answer from you. I will not allow him to keep an eye on me or to always take me to and from school. I know it's irresistible but he has his girlfriend, it's also weird, I feel like he and his group are hiding something. And something very thick.

"I'm sorry, Carolina, but I found you and now I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. You are in danger." He confessed, but then I watched his stiffen as he said the last.

In danger?

"What do you mean?" I questioned, frowning. "How is it that this one finds me and I'm in danger."

He was thoughtful. Then he looked at me and in his eyes I only saw concern.

Concern?

"I see the time has not yet come." He muttered to himself. I frowned. The moment? What a moment? Oh no. This is very confusing.

"You know what? I'm going. Stay with your weird thoughts." I snapped as I got out of the car and closed the door. As I left, several boys and girls stared at me, I knew it was not a good idea to come with Kayler. I ignored them and walked briskly to my class room.

When I arrived I noticed that Anne was sitting next to my place. Yesterday I couldn't speak to her anymore. I walked to my place and sat down. Anne looked up and smiled at me.

"Hello, Carolina."

"Hello, Anne. Sorry about yesterday." I hastened to say. She shook her head laughing.

"Does not matter. You did what no one has done in this school. Confront Paige.

No one? Now I remember what Anne told me yesterday before going on to the blows, she said something like that Paige was dangerous.

"Anne, why did you say Paige was dangerous?" I asked for. "It wasn't literal, was it?" At least I should know what I was dealing with.

She doubt.

"Tell me." I smiled. She huffed and leaned closer to me.

"There are rumors that they are rare" Makes quotes for the latter. "They say the last person who disobeyed them ... didn't live to tell the tale." He swallowed thickly. "It was a boy who ended up with Paige in front of the whole school and she, as expected, got very angry. The next morning the boy woke up dead in the forest."

Oh God. It's awful. Very terrible.

"The weird thing is that the boy had animal marks. Scratches, bites, the disfigured face among other things." He explained. I made a face. Poor guy.

"And what was it that killed him?" I asked for. Shrugged.

"It was never known. That was three years ago, she still had nothing with Kayler." She said. "The weirdest thing was that the next day Paige appeared as if nothing, smiling."

I raised my eyebrows. Everything is very mysterious. Anne returned to her old position because the teacher and the other students were coming in. I confess, I was scared to know this story. The poor boy. Anne said it was an animal, was it a wolf? But of course, the same wolves who wanted to kill me, could Kayler be right? I am in danger?. Does the house I am living in have anything? Other than that it's in the middle of the forest. I leaned over to Anne's seat to ask her a question. When she noticed me, she leaned a little more.

"Anne, do you know where that boy lived?"

She tried to remember and then nodded. "Yes, in the same house that you live now."

I opened my eyes in amazement and settled into my place. He lived in that house. Oh God. I'm food for wolves, I know.

I sat with Anne at a table in the back to eat our lunches. I couldn't pay attention to the classes because of everything Anne told me. Something tells me that I did come to get into the wolf's mouth. And that wolf will return, supposedly Kayler is going to protect me, how can he fight against four wolves? It is impossible.

But he looked very confident, maybe I'll ask him some later things to Kayler. Something tells me that he knows much more than he says. I took a sip of my juice.

"There's Paige ..." Anne murmured, looking behind me.

I followed her gaze. Yes, there she was sitting next to Kayler. I rolled my eyes seeing her so close to him. But something caught my attention. Paige's shoulder is apparently hurt because she has a bandage on.

"What happened to her shoulder?" Anne asks from behind me. The same question that I ask myself. The same. Kayler looks at me like making sure I'm okay... I think. I hold his gaze, he knows I have questions and many doubts that sooner or later he will have to answer. But he no longer looks at me with those penetrating and angry eyes, but looks at me with pity?

I looked away and looked back at Anne who is still eating. I'm not hungry. Much information for today. First Kayler tells me that I'm in danger, then about the dead boy who lived in my house, then Paige's injured shoulder, very suspicious by the way, taking into account that in that same place I staked the wolf that he wanted to kill me and finally Kayler's pitying look. This is a lot. I prefer my quiet life from before.

My phone vibrated announcing a message; I checked it and it was a number marked private. The next thing I read left me frozen, paralyzed and speechless:

From: Unknown

Take care, Carolina, the forest will be your new enemy. Do not approach Kayler, otherwise, your death will be even more painful than I had planned.
