Girls do reject him, likewise rich boys too. Many never wants to mingle or cling on him for so many odd reasons. One he is a middle class boy, low life, so poor without a little dime or penny in his pockets and only got an opportunity to school in a private college like George Washington University because of his scholarship program.
He never has much friends though the only two he had, Camila and Tyler are his highschool besties whom are in a serious relationship for a year now. Though these two pals are just as poor as him too. They wished to work harder in college, graduate with good degrees and get a good paying job in the future.
About ninety percent of students present here are born rich and are all from the family of wealthy parents. Luxury cars parked everywhere in the parks and garage. The remaining ten percent, Bernard believed them to be scholars just like him.
Pulling away, Britney composed herself, "I'm very sorry about that-- I umm, I was just a bit nervous."
"It's alright." He chuckled and straightened his long cross-bag's rope on his shoulder. "Why haven't you left yet? It's almost 2:30pm." He scrunched his brows slightly.
Britney awkwardly scratched her nape and tittered, "Well Er...I was waiting for you!" She exclaimed sarcastically.
Bernard frowned and pointed at himself, "Me?" When she nodded, he sighed and shook his head, "You shouldn't have done that. I believe your quins are already waiting for-"
"They've gone home already." She quickly interrupted. "They have their personal cars likewise me."
Bernard raised his eyebrows and slowly nodded his head. Oh wow, it didn't amused him. She had taken them to a fancy restaurant at lunch hour, paid for their lunch and she lend him a ride too and also permitted him to take the front seat. All these surely clarifies her as the daughter of a wealthy man.
In this college as he had earlier thought, only millionaires, billionaires and more richer people gets to admit their kids here. If one is opportune to school here through scholarship or by any help of philanthropist, let them be grateful and thankful.
"So, where were you? Still busy with class chores?" She asked with a sweet smile.
Bernard chuckled and nodded, "Actually I was in the library, studying with my friends."
Britney raised her brows and asked, "Female course-mates?" She has no idea why she asked such question and please don't call her jealous.
"Well, not really. I only have two friends who are also my only friends from Netherlands. Camila and Tyler. They're on scholarship programs just like me too."
Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Britney shamelessly bit her lower lip and asked, "What about me? Am I not included in your friend's list?"
"Come on, don't say that. If you weren't, we shouldn't be having conversations right now or we shouldn't have had lunch together-- oh that reminds me, thank you very much for the retreatment. I really do appreciate."
Britney chuckled and flinged her hand sarcastically over her face, "Pfftt, oh please, you've thanked me enough. Besides, I didn't do anything."
"You may think so but what you did today, was a very massive favor in my life." Bernard sighed. She'll never understand. It's been a long time since he last had a delicious meal. Or should he say he can't even remember the last time he had such good food?
"Anyway, that aside. Aren't you off home?" Britney began taking a foot forward as she walked and he escorted. They both her heading towards the student's garage.
"Nope!"
"Then where are you heading to after here?"
He smiled and asked, "Why do you tend in questioning so much?"
"Because my mother told me that, 'He who asks questions, get to know more."
"Hmm, that's true." Pausing for a while, he took a deep breath, "I'm off for my part-time job. My afternoon slash evening schedule."
Britney frowned confusedly, "Afternoon shift?" When he nodded, she asked, "Are you an employee in somewhat company?"
"Yes." Bernard answered.
"Wow, a student who aids in hustling for himself, I guess." She tittered. "So what company is that?"
"It's a gas and petrol station. I work there as a petrol attendant."
"Do Camila and Tyler also work there as well?" Britney asked curiously. He nodded his head.
"So has it always been on part-times? Do the company know that you guys are studying in college? What if your fixed schedule for class happens to fall through the entire day? When do you close for the day?" Britney was so specialized in knowing almost everything about Bernard. His everyday activities, what he does, why he did it, how he coped with it and all of that.
Taking a deep breath, Bernard stopped on his tracks at the time they reached her car. "Yeah, they do know we're students of this college and that's the main reason why they employed us in the first place."
Britney sensed annoyance in his way of answering her questions. She thinks maybe he is getting crazy over her too many questions. "Bernard, are you upset?"
"Upset?" He chuckled and shook his head, "Why did you ask so?"
"Well-" She shrugged and bit her lower lip before unlocking the car, "Maybe I read it from your tone."
"Don't be silly, Britney. Why will I be upset over nothing?"
Placing her hand on the rim of the door, she smiled, "Alright, get in. I don't mind dropping you off at your place of work. Do you mind at all?" She whispered on the last five words.
He smiled at her and went into the car without replying to any of her questions.
Britney grinned excitedly in her heart and boarded the car away. Now she won't miss the chances of having his number this time.
