Rony's POV
"Uuugh!"
Sheepishly waking up to the start of night, Rony arms reached for the sky, his orange toes curled up from satisfaction as he stretched, a wave of relief drowned him.
The humid air almost made the air seem to stick and clump together, but to Rony, the humid air refreshed him, his leafy-green skin absorbed the moisture in the air, hydrating Rony.
"What a great way to start the night!" Rony exclaimed, climbing under the leaf he was staying at and stuck his head out, his bright red eyes popped out in the dark.
Looking left and right to see the rest of the family still huddled asleep, Rony frowned.
He could sense something, a frightening thing that will drain his soul: boredom.
Suddenly, he heard a rustle.
It was a small sound that wasn't startling, but it was certainly…interesting.
Hopping out to see the source of the sound, Rony surveyed the tree to see a familiar figure.
A little leafy-green frog with the same blood-red eyes came into Rony's perception. The little creature had three squishy toes dyed in neon orange, the side of its body painted with cobalt blue all the way to their thigh, yellow streaks like lightning contrasted with the blue, a mix of warm and cool colors made the little frog an abstract canvas of colorful inspiration.
"Hehe…"
Rony's body shook, trembling even. His small body deflated and inflated as a slow rumbling noise emerged from his body, his eyes flashed mischievously.
-Time for some fun!-
Simmering with wicked intent, his stomach sloshed around with mischievous ideas waiting for the perfect time to roll off his tongue.
With one great leap, Rony quickly made his way to his victim.
"What's up Rosa?"
With a laugh, Rony ended up face-to-face with his victim. A naughty smile slowly widened across his face.
Rony was ready to be a troublemaker today.
"Nothing much," Rosa replied promptly, squinting her eyes in displeasure.
"Where's the sisterly love and excitement to talk to his favorite brother of all time?"
"What are you planning, Rony? You're a little too excited than usual."
"Oh c'mon sis, I'm always like this! I just want to know what makes you more excited than usual."
"What? I do not understand what you are trying to say."
"Let's not act like you always jump away eagerly around this time. So, what have you been doing lately?"
"..."
"Not going to speak?"
"..."
"You're always so introverted. You didn't even wanna party with me or the family, now you wanna go out and be extroverted?"
"..."
"Jaguar twist your tongue? Choked on a fly?"
"...I'm simply going out because I want to."
"Is that so…" Rony smiled sly, hopping in circles around her, "I simply don't believe ya!"
Rosa stared at him, before finally huffing in frustration as she hopped away.
"Ay, where are you going sis?!"
"I am going to see an acquaintance of mine."
"WHAT?! YOU HAVE A FRIEND?!"
Rosa stopped right in her tracks and looked at Rony with a deadpan face, her soul fluttered away from her body ages ago.
"Ahem, that was my bad," Rony uncomfortably coughed, "Sorry 'bout that, really uncool on my part."
"So…" Rony shuffled right up to Rosa, "Tell me about your friend."
Sighing for the second time in less than a minute, Rosa continued hopping.
"I'm seeing a sloth-"
"Oooh!"
"Whose name is Sal-"
"OoooOh!"
"And we have been having meetings to get together and simply talk-"
"OOooOHHhh!"
"..."
"Rony, please stop interrupting."
"No, Rosa, it's just I'm getting so emotional. You actually have a friend! It's just so sudden and abrupt that I'm-"
"Enough, Rony, I am leaving."
"Ah, yes-yes!" Rony grinned from ear to ear, vigorously shaking his head in agreement obediently, the mischievousness evaporated off him, "Go and see your friend!"
"Rony, we are simply seeing each other as a way to practice conversing, we are not fr-"
"Yeah-yeah," Rony mocked, "you guys totally aren't friends. Yeah-yeah…Who are you trying to fool? Go and see your friend, he's waiting for you!"
Perhaps already exhausted even though the moon just rose up, Rosa didn't even bother to argue and leaped away, disappearing into the foliage.
"Man…Look at her go."
Rony seems to be in a trance, yet a small smile still hangs from his face.
A smile, not of mischief or excitement, but rather at ease yet a little bittersweet.
"Look at how she's so grown up."
"I was honestly worried how lonely she was, but now she has a friend."
Rony eyes wrinkled into slits, his eyes a little wet, gazing deeply into the night.
"..."
"Enough with the feelings!"
"New nights, new parties!"
"Time to go and have some fun!"
