You wake up to Max vigorously shaking you, "I would let you sleep, but dinner is ready." You groan, rubbing your eyes. "I'm coming." You walk into the kitchen where Max's mom was making macaroni. You watch her from her side.
"I would make something special, but I gotta run to the store." Max, who is now standing next to you, whispers to you. "That's never gonna happen."
Her mom pours it into 3 bowls and sets it on the table. You all eat and Max says she has a surprise for you. She practically pulls you into a room you haven't seen. It was a spare room. All your belongings were in there, which wasn't much. Most of your clothes put into the closet and dresser. It smelled like smoke and there were small holes in the walls.
"Aww," you coo, "thanks Max."
"It's nothing." She smiles.
You two sat down and watched Jaws. You and Max ate popcorn. She was terrified, which made you laugh. When it was over, you checked the time. 10:27. You and Max decided to split to your rooms. You were going to take a shower, since you hadn't since before you were kicked out, but realized you didn't have any shampoo or anything. You began searching through the things you had. You looked almost homeless with the amount of things you owned. Without Max, you would have been. You slipped on your Converse and jumped out your window, making sure you didn't wake anyone. You sat on the steps and tied your shoes and heard a door slam. You looked up to see Eddie, who was happily trotting to his van. He opened the doors and 'pretended' to grab something. He turned around to see you, walking to grab Max's bike.
"Where are you heading at 10 at night?" he grins. "Gotta run to the store," you explain pulling yourself on top of the bike, "got a problem with that?" "Yeah," Eddie smirked with his dimples showing. He goofily walked over to you, picking his legs up with each step he took. You giggled. "I don't want anything bad to happen to you." He grabs your waist and lifts you off the bike, which you protest at first. He sets you down gently and smiles.
"I'll take you."
"You sure?"
"My pleasure."
You start to blush as he walks you over to his van with his hand on the small of your back. Eddie insisted to open the door for you. "M'lady," he smiles. You giggle and he runs to the other side to turn on the car. "So, you're staying at the Mayfield's?" Eddie says, pulling out of the area. "Yep," you say looking down. "For how long?" "Well, my mom kicked me out. She's the only family I have. Well, friend I guess." "Damn. Me too, though, with my uncle, if it wasn't for him I definitely wouldn't be where I am today." That brought you a sense of comfort. Knowing that there was someone struggling some of the same battles as you. He turned up the music a little to break the silence, which you were appreciative for because silence made you nervous. It was rock songs. One you knew came on and you started humming to it. "You into rock?" Eddie said almost excited. "My dad was. After he retired from the army, he was pretty much a rock god. I kinda picked up on his tradition." "I see," he says nodding, "where is he now?" You stopped breathing for a second. "I'd rather not talk about it." Eddie gave you a confused eye, but let it go. The Trooper by Iron Maiden comes on and Eddie turns the radio up really loud. He stops the car as a car passes in front of you. He plays an air guitar, almost as if he already knew how to play it on a real one.
"You'll take my life, but I'll take yours too" Eddie yells playfully looking at you for the next lyric. "You'll fire your musket, but I'll run you through" I respond. Your concert however was stopped when you heard a horn behind you. He turned down the music so he could focus on the road.
"What exactly are you getting?" Eddie asks. "Imagine if you had to pack your entire room in your suitcase." "Ah," he sighs, "so everything." You nod and Eddie pulls into the store. He ran around the car to open your door.
"We got 15 mins," he says staring at his watch, "they close at 11." The workers looked pissed that you came in right before closing time, but you shook that off. You began to go down the aisle choosing out shirts, pants, and accessories. Eddie pushes the cart for you as you add things. You went to grab a hairbrush, and when you came back Eddie was gone, just the cart remained. "Eddie?" you shouted. He just grunted. You went down a few aisles to find Eddie playing in bras. "Eddie-" you giggle. "Sorry," he laughs. You went to check out and Eddie began putting the stuff on the counter. He checked his watch, "thank you for letting us stay a few extra minutes." "Your welcome," the cashier said. "I decided to stay a little longer so I could have some peace." Just as the cashier finished scanning your stuff, you got out your wallet. Eddie pushed your hand back, "its alright I got it." "No, that's fine. It's my stuff, I should pay for it-" He slapped the cash on the counter before you finish your statement. "Really," Eddie smiled, "it's fine."
Eddie opens the car door for you and puts the bags in the back of the van. The music was playing loud enough to the point where you could zone off. Why is he being so nice to me? You stare at his hand. His rings were so cool. His hands were so large and they looked strong. Your eyelids felt heavy. You felt something grab your thigh snapping you out of your thoughts. Eddie had grabbed it. "Ellie!" He shouted. You look up "hmm?" "Geez, I called your name like four times." "Sorry... I was just thinking." He paused, "bout what?" "I don't know." Without even looking at him, you could feel his smirk. "About my life before I got here." You tried to change the subject to stop yourself from actually telling him. "It's fine, I know you're not comfortable with it." He keeps his eyes on the road while softly humming the slow song on the radio, you smiled cause you thought it was cute. Your eyelids won the battle, slowly closing. You focus on his humming. And with that you were asleep.
"Have you ever h-" Eddie realized you were asleep. He took off his jacket and laid it on you. He admired your sleeping state.
