Your knee bobbed up and down as you wait for the planes doors to open. You practically sprinted to the area she said she was going to meet you at. When she saw you, she ran and hugged you.
"Oh my god, It's been forever since I saw you, when was it?"
"Summer of 84'!"
You notice Steve in the background.
"STEVE?!" He smiles and says,
"ELLIE!?" you both giggle and he takes your bags.
"Geez, the last time I saw you you were about this tall." You say leveling your hand a few inches below him. "And Max was like to my waist."
"Was not," she scoffs.
"Was too," You laugh.
"Jump in ladies," Steve says, sitting in the drivers seat.
Max sits in the back so the both of you can talk. When you left, Will Byers had been found. You were shocked, but not that much cause you struggled along with the gang. Fighting the Demogorgan and all. That was until your dad pulled you out of school and moved to Texas to protect you. Jeez. It had been a long time since you thought about your dad.
"Ellie?" Max shouted.
"Sorry," you snapped, "was lost in thought."
Max began explaining everything that has happened. She lightly talked about how her brother died, and how she couldn't tell anyone the real reason and had to call it a "mall fire". She told you that last year there were a bunch of deaths caused by this guy named "Vecna" but they call him "one" cause he came from the same lab as Eleven. It took you a while to process this, but shook it off meanwhile.
"So, Steve, are you still getting all the ladies," you say, mocking his voice.
"Absolutely," he grins.
"Absolutely not," Max mocks and corrects him.
Steve rolls his eyes and pulled into the front of the Mayfield's trailer. He took out the luggage and sat them next to the door.
"Thank you, Steve," you say.
"You are very welcome." he grins leaning against the car.
"Steve." Max facepalms.
"What?"
"She's not interested in you," Max shouted.
"A man's gotta try."
You feel a pair of eyes burning your skin. You look across the road to see a boy around your age staring at you. He's sitting on a chair on his porch. He popped a skittle in his mouth, breaking eye contact. Max and Steve are still arguing playfully. You study his outfit and hair. His hair was black, long, and curly. Like yours except yours is more of a dirty blonde. He was wearing black ripped jeans with chains, a black and white t-shirt that you couldn't make out because the letters were covered up with his hands behind his head. He had a denim jacket on over it. You looked at his hands, he had a bunch of rings on his fingers. He could feel you studying him and got a little embarrassed and covered his face with his hair (kinda like he was "eating" it). I could see a smirk hiding behind his hair.
You heard Steve say his goodbyes. Max glanced to you, and glanced to the boy, but said nothing until he was gone.
"Hey Munson?" Max said skipping across the street, "whatcha' looking at?"
"I'm watching the show," he said spread out his arms, "Harrington is funny as hell when he wants a girl."
He glances at you when he says 'girl'.
"I don't believe we've met?" you ask.
"Eddie, Eddie Munson," he holds out his hand. You take it.
"Ellie, Ellie Quinn." He gives you a smirk, that shows his dimples. They were so cute.
"We've got things to do," Max interrupts our smiling.
"Alright," he stands up, "if you ever need a ride."
He slams his fist on his van.
Max pulls me into the house with my suitcase and pulls it into her room.
"I'm so excited."
"Me, too."
You end up leaving everything in your suitcase. Because you pass out cold on Max's bed.
