Chapter 27 - Mud Creature!

The [Viper Strike] Skill was a very terrifying attack, especially against Monsters. A Creature that lacks intelligence won't be able to fight back, getting hit either he likes it or not.

'Although my Swordsmanship is a lot better now, I should be careful' Connor thought. Other than the Skill his body changed as well, becoming more familiar with the Sword.

Connor smiled before quickly walking behind one of the houses. He made sure no one was around and pulled out a Stone Tablet, shining with a vivid purple color. It was the Void Tablet that belonged to Ricardo.

Connor placed his open palm on it as an image appeared in front of him. He saw three words with Stars in front of them.

[Strength: ⭐⭐]

[Dexterity: ⭐⭐]

[Spirit: ]

Connor nodded. He added a Star in Strength some time back and with the Ring of Skill he bought from Doug on his finger a Star was added to his Dexterity. As for Spirit though it was completely empty. Connor assumed that Spirit was related to Mana or Magic in general.. He'll have to find out some other time to test it though.

With his own Void Tablet, Connor no longer had to pay for increasing his Stats even again.. At least until this thing stops functioning. From what he understood, Void Tablets had limited amount of uses, which was why most people don't dare to waste it.. especially since it was a property of the Don.

Without hesitation, Connor added three more Stars to his Strength before he felt empty, unable to add anymore.

His muscles bulged for a few seconds before they started to compress. He could feel even his bones changing with an itch he could never satisfy. Soon after, Connor could feel that everything was back to normal, except his steel muscles and feather-like weight. Power ran through him as he felt like he could destroy the world.

"This is incredible!" He smiled. "I should continue my plans!" Connor muttered before turning around and walking towards Craig.

"I want to place a bet!" He said.

"Of course! On who?"

"Lorenzo!" Connor looked towards a bald man eating something next to the campfire.

"Alright! That'll be 50 GC… don't be surprised, he's not the same old Fighter.. He's rusty, so even you have a chance"

Connor paid and went to the man and greeted him..

Lorenzo frowned and spoke. "I don't like new faces. I saw you running around yesterday and surprisingly you're still here!"

"Why is that surprising?"

"Your face is too pretty for the Swamp, slap some makeup and you can work the brothels" Lorenzo chuckled.

"I'm surprised you can put a proper sentence together myself.. It's a day full of surprises i guess" Connor spoke.

"You think you're funny? You want to say that again?" Lorenzo stood up and grabbed his Sword. He was easily agitated like the simple minded man that he is.

"The only reason I approached someone like you is for a fight.. I mean, what else are you good for?" Connor laughed.

"Alright tough guy, I'll see you in the Arena!"

Connor walked next to Lorenzo, not wanting to show his back to this guy. When they finally stepped into the Arena, Lorenzo moved and sent a kick towards Connor. It was a surprise attack, but Connor never let his guard down as he jumped back, barely feeling anything.

"Nice reflexes!" Lorenzo said, unsheathing his Sword. "Unfortunately it won't be enough"

Connor felt very confident. He met Lorenzo as he blocked his attack, barely feeling any force. 'I'm about to end this man's whole career' Connor thought with a smile. He quickly deflected the strike as if it was nothing before sending a kick while muttering. "THIS IS SPARTA!"

Connor was in a joking mood as he sent Lorenzo through the Arena. He let out a loud grunt as he grabbed his chest while spitting a mouthful of blood.

"I SURRENDER!" He quickly yelled, feeling some bone breaking when that kick landed, knowing well that he would die if he continued the fight.

"Good!" Connor smiled. "Hand me everything you have on you!"

"What?" Lorenzo yelled. "Who do you think yo…" Before he could finish his sentence a powerful kick landed on his jaw, knocking him out. Connor did not care much as he grabbed everything he had on him.. From Gold to the worthless necklace he had on.

Craig congratulated Connor with a smile, patting his shoulder. "You might have gone a little too far, but knowing Lorenzo he would have done the same exact thing" He continued. "This is your 100 GC, but don't forget that Lorenzo is not that much either!"

Connor threw the Gold into his Crystal, looking at the 575 GC he now had before smiling. "Now how about we fight?"

"You're moving a little too fast buddy, are you sure?" Craig answered.

"Not really.." Connor chuckled. "I'll be back in a bit!"

With the Void Tablet finally in his hands, Connor no longer needed to worry about his Stat upgrades.. Except for the Soul Energy needed, he paid nothing.

'I should be able to clear the excavation sites now' He thought. Connor moved quickly towards the locations.

The second excavation site had a pack of Spikerats, which were the Hedgehog looking Creatures. They seemed to be bigger than the ones he remembered, so caution was his priority. He lowered his body and snuck in the foggy Swamp towards the creature at the very back, planting his Sword right through its eye socket before it could even realize. This killing method was surprisingly effective, taking out all of them quickly.

The third and last excavation site was one of the most dangerous ones. From what the Workers told him it was located next to a cave system that had a temple appear inside of it. No one dared get close to it as the sounds that reached the entrance would force any man to run in fear.

The Creature that preoccupied the third excavation site was but one humanoid looking monster. Its body looked like it was made out of mud with empty eye sockets and a gaping mouth. It had a pair of blades instead of arms, making it one of the most threatening things Connor had seen yet.

"Alright, let's go!" He muttered, sneaking towards it. After reaching the creature Connor swung his sword at its head, but to his surprise the Sword passed through before the sliced part merged back together.

AARRGH!

The creature let out a muffled scream before going into a frenzy, swinging its arms nonstop towards the enemy that appeared behind it. Connor couldn't do anything but jump back and dodge.

'It can't be unkillable' He thought. 'It must have a way for it to sustain itself like this.. It makes no sense!'
