The four of them sat in the living room, introducing themselves properly.
"My name is Maggy" She said. "I am a Lawyer.. Or used to be. I came here with my father for a relaxing vacation, but look what happened… Hopefully this is only happening here!" Maggy said, not convinced with what she said.
"My name is Earl and I used to be a Police Officer, but I retired a few years back" Earl said with a smile.
"My name is Lisa and I used to be a Resident Doctor at the Sunshine Hospital" She continued. "I might not be a fighter but if anyone gets injured I can help with that"
"Alright, my turn!" Connor spoke. "My name is Connor and I used to be a Web Developer.. We were on a cruise and New York was supposed to be one of the stops, but then this happened!"
"So.. Are you two together?" Earl asked.
"Together?" Lisa asked.
"Husband? Fiance? Boyfriend?" Earl smiled.
"W.." Lisa stopped and said. "We're friends"
"I see"
"Dad! Stop it" Maggy spoke.
They chatted for a bit, finally feeling some form of calm amidst a storm. The VIP area was locked off with a gate which prevented the horde from going anywhere and the area around them was relatively safe with the random Walkers here and there. Their situation was not bad… considering the big picture.
Connor knew that by this time the animals must have started mutating and whatever was in the Ruins is out. There were constant gunshots in the distance, but too far to point out the specific location. Helicopters and jets were flying in the air constantly, but as time passed their numbers lessened.
As they chatted, a powerful earthquake and a loud booming noise reverberated across the sky. Connor and the rest ran outside with care and looked towards the source.
A giant mushroom of fire pushed the clouds away, clearing its way upwards. It was too far away but Connor could tell that it was somewhere in the ocean…
"The Titan!" He muttered to himself. 'Is the government fighting back?' He thought. 'We are way more advanced than Gaya, so maybe…'
"Is that a bomb of sorts?" Maggy asked.
"A Nuke!" Earl said. "Let's go inside.. Quick!"
"Why?" Lisa asked, walking in.
"The Shockwave?" Connor asked.
"Yeah!"
WOSH!
As if on time, the air shifted and Bungalow shook. Glass shattered everywhere as chaos rummaged through the place. After making sure it passed, they left, seeing the once paradise now in tatters. The Walkers groaned and screamed as they rampaged inside the VIP area, pushing and slamming into everything.. Including the gate!
"Will it hold?" Earl asked. They were a distance away but could still see the gate bending.
"I don't know!" Connor answered. "We should start thinning the numbers!"
"How?"
Connor started thinking. He couldn't just jump in there and start whacking them with the Axe.. That won't get him far. There were too many and they needed something that would take out a good number of them before the gate broke.. "Molotovs!" Connor said. "I've seen plenty of Alcohol in the bar.. Let's make Molotovs!"
Earl snapped his fingers and spoke. "Brilliant! Let's go" Earl looked towards the two women and said. "You two try to make as many rags as possible.. Use the clothes and even the sheets.
Connor and Earl made their way to the bar, encountering one Walker that Connor took out easily. They grabbed the bottles with the most concentration of Alcohol and started heading back with a few bags full.
A few hours later, Connor and Earl stood behind the VIP area's wall. They were not about to stand in front of the gate, there was enough pressure on it and inviting more Walkers wouldn't help, so their idea was to climb the wall from another spot and stand on it, luring as much as they can and start the show.
GROAN!
The moment they stood in front of them, the Walkers went crazy. They swarmed in front of the wall as they tried to reach them, but failed.
"Give me the bags, you keep luring them here and I'll take care of the Molotovs" Connor said. This was a full meal of Soul Energy.. Why would he share it?
BAM! BAM!
Fire drowned these people as it slowly ate away their clothes and flesh. Connor watched in shock as he saw their eyes pop and skin peel off, but he didn't stop. Wherever and whenever the fire grew weak, he would supply it with another Molotov. Unfortunately these were not the best Molotovs since they were made from vodka and whatnot, forcing them to use way more than they expected, but they worked.
Connor took a deep breath, closing his eyes and feeling the incredible waves of Energy entering his body. He felt drunk as his cells moaned.
The Walkers kept dropping one after the other and when the Molotovs were over, a few still barely stood. Connor didn't wait as he ran on the wall to another spot and jumped down. The area where he was had countless corpses with skin and blood everywhere, which was why he didn't want to be anywhere near it. He ran towards the surviving ones and struck.
After the last one fell, Connor moved to the gate and opened it, revealing Lisa and Maggy with backpacks. They all quickly moved and passed through the VIP zone, taking the last fancy Bungalow that sat at the end as their new base.
"That…" Maggy spoke. "That was horrifying!"
"Indeed, but it had to be done!" Earl said.
Connor stood outside, looking over the gate that led to two paths. One led to the Hotel and the other around it, through a small park where children were supposed to play.. There, a few small figures were walking around, lifelessly.
"Damn it!" Connor muttered. "Children!"
