As she is standing outside the house, Layla remembers the wrestling match Alexander told her about. She gets on her motorcycle and rides off to Alexander's house. After 10 minutes,she arrives.
" What took you so long Layla? I've been waiting we're running late" Alexander's panics, " wait...hold on...and these bruises on your arms? Am sure that if got into a fight then no one can beat you unless you're asleep" Alexander worries about his best friend.
Layla tells Alex all that transpired between her and her grandma and he sympathies with her. Layla however tells Alexander that she is going to fight regardless.
" Really? But you're in a bad mood, you're going to hurt your opponent because of anger" Alex worries about Layla's state of mind.
Alexander goes with Layla on her bike to the fighting arena. When they get there, Layla sees her opponent and she is amused. Layla's opponent is at least one time taller than her as well as more mascular body.
" Woah! Layla? She is so huge" Alexander gets scared for a moment there. " But I know she can't beat you,all you have to do is focus" He hypes her up.
Layla changes into her fighting clothes and steps in to the ring. Before they start fighting, Layla's opponent starts to trash talk her calling her useless and a good for nothing. The bell rings and the fight begins but Layla fails to concentrate hence giving her opponent a chance to hit more blows. During the first round break. Alexander starts to reprimand Layla on why she is not focusing but Layla defends herself, she tells him she can't seem to focus because she keeps remembering all the bad words Coco and her opponent said to her. Alex realizes he has to cheer his best friend on if she has to win the fight,
"That's what should pain you the most Layla! I know for sure you're not useless. Prove them both wrong by winning this match! How dare this girl insult the almighty lioness? She has to pay for disrespecting you, show who owns the streets of this town!"
When Alex ignites the fire inside of Layla,she gets up and fights like never before. She knocks her opponent down by giving her seven continuous blows in the face. The opponent falls to the mat and Layla takes this chance to make an arm bar on the opposite fighters hand and she quits instantly making Layla the winner. The organizers of the event hand Layla a trophy and a check of a 100,000 million dollars. As they are going, Layla makes effort to withdraw the money and deposit it into a certain account. Alexander is amazed by this,he asks and wonders why Layla is doing such.
" Just for future use,am not the only one in my family you know" Layla smiles as she gets on her bike and drives off to Alexander's place.
When they get to Alexander's house,he starts to treat her wounds by applying ointment. He sees that she's in pain so he engages her into a conversation by teasing her so as to distract her from the pain,
" Look at you acting all baby like..I thought you were strong but what happened uh?"
Layla responds by arguing with Alex instead, " look Alex,I was flogged with a leather belt by Coco and on top of that I had a wrestling match so don't say anything else or I'll beat you up''
Instead of getting angry, Alexander just laughs. After he finishes applying ointment on Layla's back, he gives her some of his clothes to wear but before that,he prepares a lukewarm bath for her, " I prepared some bathing water for so take a bath and come for dinner"
Layla takes her bath and joins Alex for dinner were they recall all their mischievous acts and laugh at them. Alexander takes Layla to the guest room where he asks Layla to stay for the night and she says thank you. At midnight, Layla gets a nightmare and she awakens with a scream. Alexander quickly rushes to her room to check on her and ask if everything is alright. Layla shakes her head.
" Where you having the same nightmare again?" Asks Alex.
" It will never go away... because...it is a permanent scare and it is a part of me" Layla replies looking to be comfortable with the bad dream she had.
Alex sits next to Layla on her bed and hugs her for a whole minute while letting her know that it'll all be fine to help reduce her panic and anxiety. Just then, Layla falls asleep in Alexander's arms. He lays her on the bed,covers her with a blanket and decides to spend the rest of the night on the couch just in case Layla gets a bad dream again. At Layla's house, Coco wakes and rushes to Jade's room and starts to shout,
" Layla! Layla! It's fine am here now!"
Jade is awoken by the shouting and so is everyone else.
" What's wrong granny? Layla is not here" Jade informs Coco.
Soon Coco snaps out of it and remembers that she had thrown Layla out of the house.
Zoe places her hand on Coco's shoulder and tells her, " I know you're worried right now aunt... you are worried that Layla might have the nightmare that she usually gets at midnight"
" Oh I wonder how she is right now" Grandma Stella contributes her worries, " But I know that she is a very brave girl, may God protect her"
Zoe takes Coco back to her bedroom and everyone else goes back to sleep. At 01:00 in the morning, Alex wakes up to check on Layla and is relieved to see that she is sound asleep. He looks at her and thinks, " She looks so cute when she's sleeping... one wouldn't be able to tell that she is a gangster if they found her sleeping so peacefully" He smiles but then realizes, " Oh gosh what is wrong with me? My heart is beating in confusion right now" He smirks and laughs at himself silently so as not to wake Layla up while he shakes his head. He then falls asleep while looking at Layla's beautiful face.
