Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Spilled Milk

Accalia's POV

My grandmother used to tell my brothers and I the stories of the legendary shapeshifters in the forest that would turn into monsters on full moons and walk among us in the day. I never truly believed in these old wives' tales until the night I became one myself. This is my beginning and possibly my end. This is my story. The story of the legendary shapeshifters that turn into monsters on the full moons.

The sound of the thunder woke me from my dead sleep at 3:55 am. It was the second morning in a row that I've been awoken like this. Which was highly abnormal for me due to the fact that it's always raining here in Seattle. Seattle had been my home since I was conceived on my parents second try at a honeymoon. The same two story five-bedroom house I've known my whole life. Yet now has been waking me up. I threw the covers off me and rolled to the side of my king-sized bed slipping my slippers on and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. I didn't cut the lights on going downstairs not wanting to wake my older brothers that for some reason slept with their doors open.ni opened the refrigerator and poured myself a small glass of milk when I heard scratching coming from the screen door that led to the back yard. Seattle was known for the wildlife to wonder once or twice into neighborhoods and yards but in all my eighteen years they had never scratched on the screen doors as far as I knew. I was curious what animal I., would move the curtain and see up close and personal. I creeped through the kitchen to the curtain gently pulling it back only to let it go and slide down to the floor in disbelief. A wolf. But not just any ordinary wolf. This one was different. It stood on its rear legs and walked upright like a man. I held my breathe scared the creature or animal would have seen me and would come crashing through the window and swallow me whole. Then silence.

The world around me was in complete silence. A silence you would see in a horror movie before the killer would come bursting through the door and slit your throat. The animal howled a howl that easily could have waken the dead. After I was able to gain my composure, I looked out the window to see if it was gone. Not a trace of its insight from where I was looking. Checking every lock in the house to make sure the creature didn't get in and slaughter us in our sleep like Freddy I ran back to my room. Getting in my bed I looked over at my clock reading 4:36. I would definitely struggle in economics today due to my lack of rest. Another day I would come home and fall directly asleep without doing any classwork. I was starting this week off on the wrong foot and it wasn't even seven in the morning yet.
