Accalia's POV
The game ended 36 to 30 at 10:15 mountain view had given us a great game and we had barely got away with a win. I put up the camera Mrs. Schubert had landed me a yearbook and put my jacket on. My brother didn't want to go to the game due to having a sports injury that would keep him on the bench for a few weeks. Leaving me here for four hours alone. I didn't really have many friends except for my brothers so football games and other school events sucked for me. Homecoming was even worse with all the couples with their mums and garters. It wasn't something I enjoyed but I at least got to see the football game for free. I was approached maybe once or twice by groups that had gone all out for the night. But other than that, I was on the sidelines snapping all the great shots and highlights of the game. Many of those which Easton was in. It was like no matter what or where I was taking the picture he was there.
I started walking home through the woods that lead directly to the side of my house. A short cut for when my brother and I had missed our bus or just wanted to get home without having to make multiple stops on the bus. The woods had never been this scary for me but tonight it seemed like a whole different place. I started to regret not calling my brother Dean to come get me from the school. Looking up the clouds moved revealing the full moon at least it would light the path home.
Easton's POV
I watched her as she walked through the woods quietly and gracefully, then she looked up into the sky, the clouds had revealed the moon full as day. I didn't have time to take my shirt or anything off before my body went into the change. My lungs started to expand, my ribs broke and grew twice in size, my legs felt like snapping a tree branch in the center, and my teeth grew in a matter of seconds. Then the rest of the change happened in almost a blink of an eye. Howling I let the other predators in the area to stay away and then the hunt began.
Accalia's POV
The howl stopped me in the middle of my tracks. It was only 10:50 the coyotes and wolves did not normally come out until 12 after the sounds of traffic died out. I picked up my pace and kept my head on a swivel. I knew I wouldn't be able to outrun whatever was in the darkness of the woods, but I sure could outsmart it. My heart was racing with every step I took. I didn't run until it came out of the trees. A humongous black as tar colored wolf on its hind legs. I didn't even think about trying to outsmart it. I dropped everything I had and ran. I ran in and out of trees trying to lose the creature knowing if it was to catch me, I wouldn't make it home. Ducking behind a fallen tree I tried to catch my breath. I knew I was off the path to go home. I just prayed that I would even make it there.
I could feel my heart beat all the way in my throat as if it was ready to jump out itself and run away. The silence from a few nights ago crept back on me. The woods were silent once again. As I thought the coast was clear I was thrown into a tree. The back of my head hit hard as I landed. I looked to see the beast making its way towards me again as I got up to poorly make an escape as the beast was on top of me. Throwing my arms up to protect myself the animal scratched me full across them. The burning sensation felt like the flames of hell themselves, but it didn't compare to when the creature bit into the side of my neck. If anyone could say how it felt to be burned alive with no defense this is what it felt like. It continued to bite into my neck until my world became a big fuzzy ball of colors and I knew I was dying.
Easton's POV
The moon was once again covered by the clouds as I returned to my human form. She had passed out during me biting into her neck. She laid there covered in the blood that was coming from her arms and neck. I picked her up and carried her to the front steps of her house. The entire walk she didn't move a mussel probably because of the amount of blood she lost. But when she put her head into the crook of my neck. It felt like heaven having her this close to me and my wolf was satisfied. Laying her on her porch swing I went and banged on the door until the porch light came on. I ran behind a car in the driveway as I saw her brother Dean open the door and ran to her. The rest of her family soon followed, getting her to her feet and inside the house. She had a couple of weeks until the next full moon on the 22nd of December. It would give me time to figure out a way to tell her what her new life would be like and give her the proper time to tell her family goodbye. Waiting was the least I could give her now. I had taken her life and joined it to mine. When I got back to the school I was met by my father. "I saw the whole thing son." He said throwing me a pair of underwear and sweats. "You didn't attack her to kill, you marked her, she's your mate isn't she." I wasn't going to deny it she was my mate, and I was proud to finally have it known. "Her family is going to kill us and her when they find out what has been done." my father said, putting his hands on his temples. "She's my mate's dad. I'll do whatever has to be done to keep her safe, even if I have to kill her family myself." with a nod my dad got into his jeep and drove off. For once in eight months, I would be able to sleep in peace knowing she would soon be by my side for the rest of our lives.
Accalia's POV
I woke up to my body racking in pain and the light shining through my window. "How are you feeling?" My dad said sitting up from the recliner in the far side of the room. "What happened to me?" I murmured as I tried sitting up only to fail. I looked at my arms seeing the large claw marks running down them. Dad brought to the side of my bed water and three ibuprofens. I smiled and took them from him. The pain was miserable. "You were attacked last night Hunny; you woke Dean up by banging on the door before you made it to the swing and passed out." looking up at him with confusion on my face I took another sip of my water and spoke. "Dad, I passed out during the attack, I wasn't able to make it home." my father looked at me with horror and disbelief on his face. "If you didn't make your way home, who brought you?" after he left without another word as he walked out of the room.
