Synopsis
Why must the Gods who let humans go through non-man-made disasters and just to watch them die be praised? Why shall we give them our upmost respect? What did they do to earn it? Why must goats, oxen, and sheep be sacrificed in their honor? In my eyes, they aren't worth a single droplet of blood from these animals. I, the first holder of my name, Griffin, will not let this Gods laugh and enjoy their divine wine and delicacies while Humanity suffers and falls in despair due to calamities that they created for the sole purpose of their entertainment. I will ascend to Olympus and make them drown in their own blood. But... do Gods bleed? I know they can, and I will be the one to make them bleed oceans of blood. Oceans big enough to paint the world in red or whatever repugnant substance runs through their veins. I will claim the throne, and if Hades tries to take me to his kingdom without my permission, on my way there, I will take his head and serve it in a cold plate to his brother and sisters.

Chapter 1 - 0 Humanity and the Gods

Athens, Greece

"Father, if the Gods created humans, why do they let them die"

"It wasn't the Gods who created humans, Griffin"

"Then who was it father"

"He was a Titan who betrayed the Gods after creating the human kind. The Gods had mercy on him when the Titanomachy happened, as you know the Titanomachy was the war between Titans & Gods."

"The Gods won, didn't they?"

"Yes, they did but it wasn't only the Gods fighting against the Titans, there were two TItans who allied with the Gods and fought their own kind. Their names were Prometheus, and Themis."

"Why would they do that?"

"To survive…"

"Prometheus convinced his brother to not go against the Gods and he accepted. After winning the Ten-year war, Prometheus was given the job to create lIving things inferior to the Gods themselves"

"Oh, so Prometheus is the father of humanity?"

"Yes, you could say that. When Prometheus created the first human, he gave them the ability to use the elements of the world for their benefit but Zeus still reminded Prometheus that his creation should never attempt to defy the Gods, and that they should stay inferior to the elements of the world like fire or water."

"What happened after that?"

"Prometheus gave humankind the ability to think on their own so of course they evolved through time and as time passed, humans struggled to survive in an environment where they couldn't use the elements in their favor. Prometheus was enraged at Zeus's orders of not giving the humans the ability to use the natural elements and so he decided to betray the gods."

"He was a fearless one, he climbed all the way to the top of mount Olympus and stole the fire from the Gods to give it to the humans. The humans now could be warm in the winter, they could cook but this also caused wars due to how fire was used in the making of weapons."

"Zeus was infuriated at Prometheus' betrayal and imprisoned him with chains at the Caucasus Mountains. It's said that he's still hanging off a cliff and that a bird comes every day to eat his liver. Due to Prometheus's immortality, his liver kept regenerating overnight and that made the torment even worse."

"Waah, Prometheus is pretty cool, father"

"He is son, but oh Lord, he went against those who stand above all, and he met the consequences"

"But he did it for a good cause didn't he?"

"Indeed, because of him you and I were born and given the ability to live."

"So the Gods are the bad guys?" Asked the boy

"Maybe, who knows son, but remember that us, humans, aren't but mortals in their eyes, we cannot defy them for it may bring death upon us"

"Mortals?"

"Yes, mortals are living beings that can die. On the other hand, the Gods are immortals who can't die even if stabbed in the heart unless something more powerful than them kills them, and there isn't such thing, or someone capable of that"

"Father, are there any other immortal beings other than the Gods?"

"Oh, actually there is, son!"

"Tell me, tell me!"

"Haha, easy, easy… The other beings that are on par with the Gods are… The Daemones"

"The Daemones?"

"Yes, they are the embodiment of evil and chaos, their sole goal is to take over the world and kill the Gods who sent them to their torment in He-"

"ADONIS!" A feminine yet loud voice could be heard from outside of the house made from bricks, and clay where the boy was listening to the stories his father was telling"

"Oops, seems like your mother is angry, haha"

"What did you do now father?"

The boy just rolled his eyes as if this was an everyday thing. This family was composed of a son, father & mother.

"Adonis, you are here again filling your son's ears with fairy tales about Gods, and all that stuff. You should be helping me on the farm outside"

This woman whose temper seems to be that of a tiger is the boy's mother and the man's wife, yet despite her personality, she was a woman worth looking at twice with her blonde yet slightly brownish hair, blue eyes, and a decently slender body.

The man named Adonis on the other side wasn't really a handsome man, but not an ungly one. He had short and curly hair that only reached his ears, he had it all dropped without a particular style.

Giffin, this is the name of the boy who was listening to Adoni's stories of the Gods, Daemons, and Prometheus.

"And you young man…"

The boy suddenly snapped out of his thoughts and with a face full of sweat as if Hades himself was speaking with him he stutterly asked…

"Yes, mother?"

All the boy could do was to put on an innocent face with a wide smile and shiny eyes hoping for his mother's anger to cease.

Making such a face, his mother couldn't get angry at him and so it worked, his mother just let out a sigh. In a calmed manner she just stared at Griffin for a bit before saying…

"Alright, just go and wash yourself. After you're done, go to sleep."

"Yes mother!" Griffin quickly answered since he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Before entering the other room, he looked back at the couple, and with a low voice said 'Good night'.

"While Griffin was in the other room preparing his bath, the couple kept talking in the living room."

"Dear, we are running out of money and the river is starting to dry out. If we don't do something…"

Tears started to fall down the mother's face.

"Sescia…"

Adonis just hugged his wife, Sescia, with a tight grip.

"Don't worry, I am a man of his word, and I say that we will make it through this, trust me…"

"But what if something happens to us my dear, what will be of our boy"

"Haha… don't worry about Griffin, even if something happens to us, he will surely survive, he is a strong boy."

"I believe you dear, he is your son after all."

At midnight, The palace of Athens…

"Lord, we have spotted countless beasts coming our way from the South! So many of them that I don't think our mighty walls will stand their attack!."

"What!? Have our watchers ready their bows and the ballistas ready to engage. Tell the commanders to deploy their units to defend the south gate, and the scouts to go North, West and East to check the surroundings just in case."

"What about the commoners?"

The man who came with the bad news was a middle aged man with a mustache with the sides going up in a curled way, he was bald and seemed rather skinny.

The other man seated in the golden throne, who looked older than the informant, probably in his late 30's was the Lord of Athens. He had a short beard and a bald head but opposite from the informant, the Lord had a better build and was wearing a long and luxurious red and white robe.

The Lord whose name was Lucian, had a pensive expression on his face.

"Have them moved as soon as possible to the center of the city"

"Yes sir!"

The informant immediately exited the main hall and went directly towards the military camps where the soldiers were resting.

As soon as he arrived, he yelled…

"THE BEASTS ARE COMING!"

This simple sentence was enough to wake up everyone who was currently asleep. The ones who weren't quickly got up, while those at the nearest walls who heard got into position.

The informant proceeded to run in many directions throughout the city yelling the same thing, and passing the message to the commoners who did the same with their neighbors.

The word spread pretty quickly despite Athens being a decently big city. Griffin's family was obviously also notified but a bit later than everyone else due to their home being closer to the walls and farther apart from the plaza of the city.

"Sescia, bring Griffin now, we have to go or we will be left behind."

"I'm coming dear!"

Sescia barged into Griffin's room and woke him up in the process.

"Mom? What 's going on?"

"Quickly! We have to leave, put your clothes on"

"Ok?... But why?"

Griffin was still confused since he had barely woken up.,

"There's no time to explain now, let's go"

Sescia didn't explain and just grabbed Griffin by the arm once he had put his clothes on. Griffin was 10 years old, and yet his clothes seemed equal to those of a 15 year old since Griffin was twice as big compared to most of his friends who were as old as him.

His current apparel consisted of a white top made out of cotton, brown pants made out of cotton as well, and brown sandals of leather with soles of cattle skin.

Sescia and Griffin hurried over to the living room we're his father was looking out the window. The streets were complete chaos, people running in every direction, stumbling, and running upon each other. Those who fell to the floor were being run over by those who couldn't pay attention where they stepped.

"Dear, we are ready"

"Good, we have been called to the central plaza, let's hurry"

"Yes dear, c'mon Griffin"

The family exited the house and ran towards the plaza where it would be more secure.

"Please help me! My son!"

A middle aged woman was crying on the floor, her son was caught in the chaos, and people ran him over, breaking both of his legs in the process, he couldn't move at all.

Griffin looked at the helpless boy, this was the first time he had seen such an injury and that much blood. The scratches he would get from playing with his father outside couldn't compare to the boy's legs.

Sescia quickly covered Griffin's eyes, and kept going by the hand with Adonis.

"Mom, that boy…he-"

"It's alright, someone will help him Griffin, let's just keep going."

Griffin wasn't stupid enough to not know that his mother was lying, but what could he do? Nothing, as simple as that.
