Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Tomonori

At the sound of the closing bell, the class disperse and everyone started going home.

Garrett was on his way home when he ran into some group of bullies. Timothy and his group of prejudiced wizard friends were busy harassing a weak looking shy teenager of average height, average weight and well, pretty much everything about him screamed average.

Garrett didn't want to get involved, so he quietly turned around and started Walking the other way but then he bumped into what felt like a sturdy wall and fell.

Looking up to see who he dumped into, Garrett saw that it was Emeka but Emeka didn't seem to notice him as his eyes were locked on something else, knowing what was about to happen, Garrett left Emeka way and watched him matched towards the group while shaking his head like a disappointed uncle.

Garrett and Emeka may have been best friends since childhood but that didn't mean they saw eye to eye on everything, and one of the subject in which their opinion differed was on responsibility and justice.

Emeka has this belief that it was the responsibility of everyone to help the less fortunate when they were in the position to while Garrett believed it was better to stay out of trouble when possible, he wasn't a hero and didn't want to be one but Emeka always counters his belief With the famous quote of uncle Ben saying

" with great power comes great responsibility" and that it was a great Injustice that people would suffer in a society where other have the means to help them.

As Emeka walked towards the group of people, he could hear the bullies verbally assault the teenager saying things like

" I told you a thousand times Tomonori to stop those stupid equality for all speech you keep giving at the assembly, we are not all equal"

" yeah, we wizards are the most supreme race in the world"

" It's not like you would understand, you inferior muddled blood"

Timothy then grabbed Tomonori by the neck, slammed him against the wall and was about to punch his face when he suddenly felt someone holding his hand. Turning around to see Emeka holding his hand back, Timothy frowned like he just saw his own nemesis.

Looking at Emeka angrily, Timothy let go of the other teenager, turn to face Emeka squarely and said

" Don't think that simply because you are a strong fighter and have a strong backing that I can't touch you, if you keep interfering in my business asshole, I will put you in your place"

Tomonori then look at Emeka with a bright smile on his face and said

" It's alright Emeka, there is no need to fight for me, there is no problem here and I'm not being bullied or anything like that, it just a group of friends fooling around"

" No it is not enough Tomonori, you are the nicest and the most honest person I know, how is it ok for me to stand aside and watch as societal scum like Timothy beat down on good people like you. It is because everybody stands aside and let evil prosper that the world is the way it is" Emeka said angrily

" What do you mean by that ?" Timothy cried angrily and lightening started sparking from his hands

seeing this, Emeka also got in a fighting stance and as they were about to start fighting, they heard a voice saying

" What are you children doing here, aren't you supposed to be home?, go home now before I send you all to detention"

turning around to see the school principal, everyone immediately started walking away but then Emeka grabbed Tomonori and drag him along.

After they were out of trouble, Tomonori stopped and thanked Emeka happily but Garrett was upset about everything and angrily said

" I don't even know why you help him, other werewolves I would understand but he is a muddled blood and a vampire one at that, you know vampires and werewolves are enemies"

It was now time for Emeka to look at Garrett like a disappointed uncle and say

" first of all, the great mythic war is over and now werewolves and vampires are allies,

secondly, don't you dare call him a muddled blood ever again. I won't stand such prejudice and discrimination from you, have you forgotten what our parents, our country Leaders and countless others are fighting for, have you forgotten what your mother died fighting for.

And lastly, this is Tomonori we are talking about, a true activist, someone who does his best to fight against discrimination, someone who does his best to make everyone happy and never stops even though he get targeted and unfairly treated because of it. You simply expect me to stand aside and watch him suffer fighting for my right? and to think you were actually going to look the other way Garrett, where is your humanity?"

Garrett simply look at Emeka and said " this belief and attitude of yours is going to get you in trouble one day. the world isn't what you see on television or read about in your history books Emeka, heroes don't live long and they are also forgotten easily. My mom was an example of that and I plan to live long, so I mind my own business and stay out of trouble"

After arguing for awhile, Emeka and Garrett decided it was best to just go home and so they did but on his way home Garrett thought about what Emeka said and after convincing himself that Emeka was wrong, threw the matter to the back of his mind. He then toke out his phone and headset and listen to some music on the rest of the journey.
