Chapter 2 - The Village of Ghosts

And we finally traveled through the swirling portal into a new world, leaving my old one and having the chance to start over in my life.

I've waited so long for this, and now it has become an reality, as I held onto the Dimensional knights hand, we ended up walking into a village, however I noticed something odd.

Hey, hey, hey! Just where did he take me? What is this place? I could see rundown houses and an entire abandoned village we stood in the middle of.

Looking up at Leorio, I seen his calm poker face turn into something new this time around, almost like he screwed up or something?

"S-Sooo... this is... the place?"

I didn't expect this... but I guess other worlds look at "Richness" differently? I didn't know much about how they thought.

....Oh

Holding onto his hand even tighter, I pulled myself in closer out of fear, feeling as if someone was watching me all around...

"Well, where are we?"

I didn't know if it was my mind playing tricks on me, but I swore I could hear howling around us.

It was pitch black, only the moonlight in the sky lit up this abandoned village.

The wind blew eerily, picking up the leaves and small dust particles around us, the wind blew and slapped open window-doors, creating a chilling atmosphere around us.

I jumped up straight, my body felt like it grew goosebumps from head to toe.

I felt powerless, more powerless than ever before... but how come I didn't see the ghosts surrounding us?

Leorio who's hand I held would use the other to unsheathe his sword, and once it came out, I could notice alien markings on its exterior, melted into the metal.

...This made things very difficult, I felt like a waste of space now.

I had No Mana.

I knew no magic.

And I had no skill in battle.

The only thing I could do as of now was watch Leorio protect me, as the unforeseen ghosts surrounded us.

"Hey, that kid... he's not from here, is he?"

A voice echoed in the eerie winds around me, as I turned in all directions to see no entity. Oh right, I couldn't!

Leorio looked to his side where I was, suddenly snatching me in his arm—

"W-Woah, hey!!!"

I yelled out once I was grasped inside his arm, him holding me like a child as I squirmed from confusion.

He swung his blade horizontally and slashed right through something.

I couldn't see what it was, but once his blade connected with it, the source of the attack became clear.

I was so confused on these concepts... I just closed my eyes, and covered my ears, shaken up by this entire situation...

Damnit, damnit, damnit! I always knew going into a different world was going to be super tough, but not this early! I watched many Isekai, and I don't think it's ever started off this tough!

"Haaahaaaahaaa..."

One of the ghosts from behind started to laugh, in a very slow, and yet mocking manner.

"The Child you have in your arm... doesn't have any enchantments... or magical armor... he's defenseless as a puppy..."

No crap Sherlock, what would you bring from a 20th century modern world, inside of another world full of magic, a gun?

"His skin is yellow, he wears a blue long-sleeved shirt with colored stripes, black pants, and brown shoes. His hair is dark-brown, and he has the appearance of a Royal… could he be what we are looking for?"

…Wait what? I turned to the voice who described me in the flesh, but I didn't understand what they meant by "Could he be what we are looking for"?

Were they after me?

Leorio would point his blade at a section of the ghosts.

He sounded so prideful, my worries felt like they slimmed down a bit, however I still was scared.

Maybe I was really holding him back, I could see his massive sword, and it looked heavy in one hand. He needed two hands, but I was the one preventing him from using the other… just useless… as always… even in this world…

Soon as I bowed my head and balled my fist, I could hear the knight.

"Let me show you, why being a Knight is greater than that of a mage."

My eyes felt like they were staring at a hero once I looked up in his prideful, and confident face.

I didn't know what to say, but stare at him… UNTIL HE THREW ME INTO THE FREAKING AIR!

"Woooooaaahhhhhh!!!! AHH… AAAHHHHH!!!"

I yelled at the top of my lungs, my body was soaring through the air until I eventually reached past the clouds.

Just how far did he throw me? I was losing oxygen rapidly from my consecutive breathing, and losing my breath from screaming all the way up here!

"AAAAAHHH!! SAVE ME! SAVE ME!!!"

My body eventually reached as high as it could go, now having me suddenly start to fall once more.

"This Knight… he is a crazy one… yes?"

One of the ghosts spoke, as the others had nervous sweat marks going down their face.

"It's not his confidence that I'm scared of… but rather his stupidity. That child will die. He won't have enough time to kill us all once he even reaches the ground."

The Ghosts began to all raise their hands in sync.

"Our Ectoplasm is enough to finish you off, Dimensional Knight. Goodbye."

And all together they formed a hellish and green magical energy in their palms, blasting it off in an array, sending them right into Leorio, but—

[Distinctive Magic Activated]

[Skill Casted: Soaring Blade of the Cosmos(Lv.10)]

"A level Ten Skill…?"

The Ghosts all were stunned by the display before them, seeing their own Ectoplasm vanish once it collided upon his armory.

Leorio held onto his blade and gathered forth an absurd amount of energy around it, and his own body.

Inside of his sword, a Blue, and White light concentrates.

There's only about ten meters between him and the Ghosts. Within that distance, the Ghosts shouldn't even be able to dodge his attack.

And thus he swung his blade, detaching the Blue-white light in an wave of energy, completely decimating the entire village around them in its glorious color.

"W-Woah..?!"

I looked below to see all of this as I fell down to land again.

Underneath me was a glowing bright light, and the village I was once in, was no more.

An large explosion had covered the entire village, which in comparison was larger than that of a town.

"Incredible… this is the power of… a Knight?"

The houses were no more, as the ghosts were no more.

Once I reached closer to my death, Leorio came to rescue, leaping into the air and grabbing a hold of me.

I could finally breathe again, my panting overlapped his apology. Could you blame me? I nearly died… I mean it was cool and all, but you nearly killed me!

"W…What… did you… do?"

In a panting manner, I asked Leorio about his attack, the knight now colliding onto the ground and sliding forward with me in his arms.

He gently sat me down, fixing my hair from the messy appearance of the intense winds…

"No… I'm fine now. I-I just didn't expect that, it was really cool! That's the first time in my life I would actually compliment a knight, ahahahaha!"

Honestly, it was cool… I couldn't hide it, nor play it off in such a tsundere manner.

My laughter calmed down, showing a gentle smile on my face.

"You know, I may reconsider being a mage after today…"

Leorio would pat my head and turn around, facing East.

I tilted my head to the side.

"Orbs…?"

Leorio turned behind to look at me.

"You got to be kidding me…"

How was he, the leader of Knights…?
