Surprising enough I could see the steak and even touch it in front of me. We finally got our food after waiting half an hour.
I grabbed two forks next to my plate and held them in my hands, digging one in as the other went in as well, abruptly ripping a piece off to munch on.
Once placing it in my mouth... it was overwhelmed with a rich flavor I haven't tasted before in my life. It tasted... supernatural? Unique in its own way.
"W-Woaaah this stuff is amazing..."
I looked down at the steak with lustful eyes that begged for more.
I went in for another bite after tearing a piece off, stuffing it inside of my mouth and happily exhaling in satisfaction.
"To think it has its own unique flavor. I expected it to taste like normal steak!"
Leorio had sloppily eating his, he didn't even use his fork, though I didn't even care about it, I was too busy munching down mine.
I felt like the ghosts stared over at us while we ate like sloppy pigs. My mouth had pieces of meat all around it, with Leorio having the same mess around his lips.
I drunk my water after consuming half of it, already feeling full just by that...
"Just what did they do to make it so good?"
Leorio had finished his steak and already chugged down his glass of water, now slamming the glass cup onto the table, breaking it—
That was so rude! Why did he act so carefree? Looking at the shattered pieces of glass on the table, I crossed my arms and given a glare.
That wasn't anyway to treat a restaurants business... but—
"Huh? Woah..."
The glass started to reform again, as if time was being rewinded.
He had a smug smile upon his face.
Leorio stood up and would grab his glass cup again after it reformed, now slamming it onto the ground, shattering it.
He risen up his hands to let the invisible ghosts I couldn't see, know what he was doing.
I did see it... I looked at the glass cup reform again, piece by piece came back onto the table and rebuild itself anew.
Leorio would stand proudly, placing both hands on his hips.
...Wait what...?
"Then... how did that cup get destroyed and come back? The law still prevented it from being destroyed you know—"
Leorio faced me and would walk up to me, placing his hand upon my head.
...Distinctive magic? I swear it sounded familiar some reason.
"What's that?"
I looked up asking him as he smiled, like he wanted me to just ask away.
He would turn behind him, walking his way towards the exit, opening the two small doors.
I of course followed behind, realizing he left no money on the table... or gold? I didn't know their currency or money worked in this world.
"Alright, thank you all for the food!"
I didn't see anyone, or more specifically the Ghosts, however I still thanked them.
Once I made my way outside the two small doors however, I bumped into someone—
"Oof- oh sorry about that..."
It knocked me down on my butt, rubbing my head in pain. Whatever I collided into was tough and sturdy... but wait?
"Wait... h-huh?"
I could see... a ghost in front of me! I noticed they had a greenish aura around them, and a transparent design to them, being see through.
Why could I see ghosts all the sudden?
"Ooiiiii the kid can see us now! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
In front of me were four talking ghosts who had beer mugs in their hands, all laughing in sync at my confused expression.
"That's pretty damn good! Pretty damn good kid! You all the sudden gained magic detection from thin air?!! What are yah, some goddamn hybrid??"
"Ahahahaha!!!"
They all started to laugh again after one made a joke towards me. But this wasn't offensive at all... more like... unique?
"How can I suddenly see these guys? What's happening..."
I stood back up and inched my way on the corner of the door, sliding myself outside and walking down the small flight of stairs to follow Leorio.
"Leorio! Leoooo! Something's up, what's going on?!"
I jogged over towards him, now realizing all around us were ghosts walking next to us... some ghosts out in he fields, and random villages suddenly showing up out of nowhere, in which I couldn't see before.
"Woah... this is what I was missing?"
Leorio turned around to face me, however once he did, his eyes would widen—
As I looked around, I finally stopped my eyes upon Leorio, seeing him giving me a sudden glare of... malice? Confusion? What was he thinking?
"Hey... are you good? Did I do something wrong?"
I was of course confused from the look upon his face, but then he would close his eyes, slowly turning around.
He muttered my name.
"Yes...?"
I replied with a shaky voice.
His tone of voice suddenly changed.
"Yes I do remember..."
Leorio sighed from his nose.
He began to walk the gravel roadway again.
I followed behind him, his voice remained calm and collected.
Leorio would turn to face me now from behind.
That did sound super cool... hearing that alone would suddenly boost my motivation, now running up to the side of Leorio.
"I didn't know there was so much to learn..."
My body trembled with excitement.
What the heck was a great mage...? Well not like that mattered right now, I could find that out later.
That sounded like a complete unfair ability... there were magic stages like that?
"Not gonna lie, final magic sounds impossible to get..."
I rubbed the back of my head, nervously laughing.
Okay! Now this is what I was waiting for.
Leorio would cross his arms behind his head.
Leorio would now give a sigh, no longer keeping up his fake smile... I knew something was wrong...
He looked down, his expression looked to even be trembling with a side of dread. What was going on with him...? What was making Leorio out of all people have that look?
"What is it...?"
I felt bad for asking, but I had to get it out! What was bothering him so much?
...What?
